Well Dweller, the next game from the single developer behind Crypt Custodian, will launch for PS5 on 22nd September 2026. That'll be one week after Marvel's Wolverine, five days after Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, and two days before Control Resonant and Silent Hill: Townfall.

I wish Kyle Thompson, the single developer, the very best of luck.

This is another Metroidvania undertaking that invites you to play as a bird called Glimmer, who's armed with a single matchstick. "Venture into a whimsical but morbid landscape and battle terrifying beasts while gaining new abilities and expanding the world. Discover secrets, mysteries, and the riddles that rot in the underbelly of this wretched queendom."

After playing Crypt Custodian, I'm confident Well Dweller will be a strong experience with satisfying Metroidvania elements. That's one of the things I loved about Crypt Custodian, which I awarded an 8/10 in my PS5 review two years ago.

"A chill soundtrack enhances the laidback and friendly tone kickstarted by the visuals and general gameplay direction, making Crypt Custodian a relaxing experience just as much as it is an entertaining one — an impressively accomplished game all in all."

Well Dweller will look to build and improve on that experience as it launches for PS5 on 22nd September. Do you like the look of the game? Let us know in the comments below.
