As always with these things, the round up will always end up massive even though fans will say there was no content at all.
Give us a few hours to write everything up. 🙏
Maneater 2 was the highlight for me.
Wow, almost no new announcements whatsoever, mostly mere reminders of games we already knew were coming. Even Gamescom was better…
So you're just not going to mention Rhapsody in Scarlet at all?
Another Crimson Desert update? I just started. Great to see more of the Lego Playstation too, Wolverine is looking better and better, and I avoid puzzle games to preserve my sanity but Uncanyon looks really intriguing, it's a big maybe.
No highlights for me. I came into it hungry and they served me tofu.
@Enuo As is stated every single time, we're still writing articles and this round up page will be updated with those links.
I don’t think there’s been a single one of these shows that didn’t have at least 5 games/expansions I was interested in. Still eating well, IMO!
@get2sammyb Fans will quite rightly say there was practically no new content, just a bunch of trailers for stuff we already knew about. That's fine and all, but it doesn't result in a particularly exciting State of Play. They could have just released these trailers individually, I don't see what was gained by grouping them together.
No Astro Bot or Media Molecule then?
Just a list of things that I’m not particularly interested in, and even if I was, they aren’t available to buy and play anyway. /shrug
Wake me up when you actually have something to sell me?
Not bad, really not interested in any of the big hitters, and October will be Hellraiser, Castlevania and Mina! Maneater 2 and a couple of those indies, especially Keeper, might pick it up today! It's nice having something Shiny and New! Hard to find time for other stuff when Splatoon Raiders exists....
Rhapsody in Scarlet is the highlight for me. 1920 New York with jazz, mafia, and magic looks pretty fresh. I think Konami have a potential with this game.
But there are others that catch my eyes like Uncanyon, Rev Noir, Daba: Land of Water Scar, Slash Zero, and Where the Seeds Fall.
Absolutely worthless again. The previous SOP before Sony murdered discs, was actually quite good. Embarrassing. 🤦♂️
metro 2029
until dawn 2
final fantasy revelation
If Intergalactic was being made by anyone else other than Naughty Dog it would have been branded the next Duke Nukem Forever by now.
I am desperate to know just how much money they have spent on this piece of vapourware so far.
Only Metro 2039 and GT7 peaked my interest.
Altho gotta say the Lego PS1 looks better than expected.
@get2sammyb personally, even 2 games is quite a lot for me, so I can say I was left content with this SoP 😂, a safe 7/10
Another disappointing waste of time and attention. I'm not boycotting anything, but my PS5 has been off for months out of plain disinterest.
@Ooccoo_Jr It's busywork for Playstation. Middle managers in Marketing etc. can point to the view counts in their performance reviews.
I knew Intergalactic wasn't going to be there after ND's Instagram when they said "when we're ready." Quite why others thought different I don't know.
@AdamNovice It’s not an SOP without wild expectations and subsequent crash-outs
@EVIL-C maybe you’re upset over the “murder” and now have a biased opinion? I mean, none of this interest me either. But the disc thing has nothing to do with it so it’s not worth mentioning.
People who are complaining that they showed nothing are the same people who would complain if they showed literally nothing.
Genuinely the worst show of the year so far. Should've been an email.
Several Asian games caught my eye in there. Rhapsody in Scarlet looked fun and CONQ's naval battles could be great - love the necromancy powers too.
I liked the Revelation gameplay as well. The open world, free exploration structure is probably a good choice given how what's left of the original FF7 gameplay plays out. Also really wanted to see the reimagined Wutai so I'm glad that got some focus. Oh, and as usual, Yuffie will never leave my battle team.
The amount of games on offer at the moment isn't really a problem. However, it was kind of impressive to see them plough on with the huge physical elephant still in the room. I don't think I've ever seen such a popular brand tank so badly in such a short space of time.
@Old-Red Oh behave, the brand hasn’t tanked at all. Go over to PureXbox and look at their website interactions, the numbers are incomparable from just one site.
Then there’s the sales, of which PlayStation is still selling far more than Xbox.
If you think PlayStation has tanked, what in the world would say Xbox is? None existent?
To you, because you’re online here a lot, and submerged in the news websites, Sony has taken a knock.
Take yourself into any workplace, club, pub, and just ask the average PlayStation gamer and many don’t even know the news of no discs from 2028 has even been announced.
A brand that’s only second best to Nintendo, isn’t tanked. Tanked is SEGA and their Dreamcast, that tanked, Wii U tanked. Xbox is even doing better than Wii U and Dreamcast put together and we still consider it mostly put out the back to be shot.
I think a little perspective is needed. Stores in the UK stopped selling physical discs to the mainstream because the mainstream stopped buying them as much.
The majority of PlayStation gamers, not the minority on PushSquare, and the majority of stores in the Western World have moved on.
It’s time for you to do the same.
