@SirRealDeal True! I can use a cord with a PC, although I always use mine portable. I think that aspect of it is the real game changer. Bringing it on trips, to parties, to work, in schools, using it anywhere so people can try it, that is the real Oculus selling point.
@Bamila I agree, although I would call this mid-range and not budget. The Quest 3 (with uOLED screens) and the Quest Pro (with MiniLED screens) are rumored to be launching in Q2. Also the Apple VR headset will come out in "2022" according to sources (probably Fall) and will be more advanced (and expensive to be sure)...so I think in 2022 the PSVR2 will settle in to mid-range so it will be an upgrade but won't be so advanced and expensive that it would be more targeted for a small part of the marketplace. The PSVR2 device, like every Sony console, has to balance cost vs. advancements so it can settle into being affordable for the masses to hit more mainstream acceptance.
I've used/have several current VR headsets and the PSVR2 has almost the exact same specs as the Oculus 2. It's worth noting that the experience is HD, not 4K, because you have to split the resolution between two views. So I hope they temper expectations and not market this as a 4K device. But it sure beats the SD of the last PSVR. My Oculus 2 looks amazing and I expect the PSVR2 will as well. The high refresh rate also fixes a lot of motion sickness that past VR headsets struggled with.
While the specs are about the same, the Oculus 2 runs on the equivalent of a mid-range Android phone. So the view is nice but the horsepower is not there. The games are more Apple Arcade than console-level. Sony's biggest advantage is the PS5 processor and being able to turn on antialiasing and other effects to make things look better and run smoother. Not to mention huge storage and fast loading on the SSD, correcting so many Oculus 2 bottlenecks.
I am not crazy about "the cord" but that cord will allow PSVR2 to go places Oculus 2 could never achieve.
I feel like it's hard to stop and read something when you are in the middle of something, and with games, I feel like I am ALWAYS in the middle of something. Last game I finished, Outriders, had a lot of "lore" that was readable and I skimmed some but it's a game where you are blasting things so I was not as concerned on the back story.
I'm deep into Far Cry 6 and I feel the writing of the spoken dialog, the acting, is so sharp, funny and well done with great characters, that I tried reading the many notes. But it's not the same. So I have not read much in FC6.
I think the only game where I read the most was the terminals and notes from the Fallout games. Something about hearing characters who are long gone, along with everything else being wiped out, is a bit more compelling.
So…have not played Persona 5…Ultimate edition Persona 5 currently on sale for $20 (or) Persona 5 Royal (or) wait for the free Persona 5 Strikers on PS+ next month? What is a good entry point for RPG fans?
I hope they add an option to start a new game. When it launched I played around with it for a few hours, was impressed and intended to get back to it. I forgot the story and wanted to start fresh, but it's not possible on PS.
Far Cry 6 is a pretty great game, so it’s great to see it listed here with best of the year, oddly not seeing the game hit a lot of year end lists. Looks and plays amazing on PS5, tight and fluid combat, Dani and other characters are likable and well-written, tons to do and discover. Weirdly I somehow missed the Far Cry games, New Dawn was the first one I played. FC6 I’m only 15 hours in, but having a blast.
@redcorpuscle This worked for me! I adjusted the last step for clarity.
1. Download the PS+ version if you don't already have it.
2. Go to the three dots by the game on your PS5, select 'View Product'
3. On the next page, go to the three dots again and select 'Final Fantasy VII Remake upgrade for PS4 owners'
4. On the next page, on the far left, you will see a drop down menu. You'll see 'Game' twice with a tick on the top one - that's the PS4 version. Select the bottom one (which is the PS5 version) and the 'add to library' and 'download' boxes will FINALLY appear.
This should work for anyone having the issue, although I would have never figured out these steps on my own. Thanks to all who helped!
This game looks awesome. Reminds me of “Borderlands Legends” (remember that game?) and the look and style is very cool. Good thing they are taking the time to do it right.
Very confusing...it says (US store on web) I own Final Fantasy VII Remake (I added it via PS+) but every other option, upgrade and add-on are not available. Wonder if I need to download it and install. Upgrade says "not available right now" and the add-on says I need to own FFVII, which I do. Hopefully it's just a temporary glitch, there is no option to upgrade or purchase the add-on.
Plan on checking out the Yule festival in Assassins Creed Valhalla. Just finished A Fated Encounter with Eivor and Kassandra. I really loved their relationship, I wish there was more content with them teaming up. Never thought I would describe an AC add-on as adorable but here we are.
Paris is great and Druids is excellent. I love the new mechanic in Druids where you build up the forts (forget what it was called) that really hooked me.
Recently "finished" the game and all the DLCs at 140 hours, switched to Outriders and finished that in 35, and was just about to choose the next game..something without big battles..after two intense games of fighting. But now I want to dive back in to AC, especially for the festival and crossover with Kassandra. Hand me that one handed sword...
@fR_eeBritney same here…I watched after and scanned through and stopped midway on the trailer and completely thought awesome new Sunset Overdrive. Looks cool though.
I hope they finally can get rid of the "checking for additional content" that drags down the initial load time (even on PS5) on this and other Ubisoft games. I have the entire game and the DLCs downloaded so I am not sure why I have to sit through this and wondering exactly what it is searching for.
However I am excited by the prospect of a more optimized game, so this sounds very cool.
Don’t hate this idea yet. Your current micro transactions have zero value now. Now a micro transaction that is numbered for uniqueness, you actually own it, it will go up in value and you have the rights to sell it? Interested to see how this pans out.
Of course, as always, thousand of internet authorities who would never use a particular game feature are going to be screaming that no one should be allowed to have the feature. And so it starts indeed…
So…is the $15 Godfall upgrade in the PS store the download to upgrade the Plus version to the Deluxe version? I mean I guess that is pretty good for a discount on a $60 game.
It’s a little confusing because the upgrade mentions unlocking all these skins which sounds more like the Ascended Edition than the Deluxe.
First hour or so of Lost Legacy there were a couple spots (trying to drive a car up a slippery slope and jumping on top of platforms in a timed order) where I got frustrated and jumped to a different game. Never went back but I did always mean to. Be nice to revisit the game now. I completed Uncharted 4 and it was great but probably would not play all over again.
@tameshiyaku Agreed. As an Oculus user and VR super-fan, it is great to see other companies such as Sony and Apple invest in upcoming VR solutions and not have FB vacuum up the marketshare. Good to have competition. I feel like VR (and the Oculus 2) is amazing right now, but I also feel like it is nothing compared to what the next couple of years will bring.
Went a little crazy with the Black Friday sale and got Far Cry 6, Cyberpunk 2077, Riders Republic, and Outriders. Outriders was only $20 so I added it to the cart, figured if it was not good I only lost a little money.
I tried it first and it's amazing. 15 hours in and its a fantastic combo of Borderlands and Diablo, very addictive, great world/characters, tight and crunchy combat, infinite customization, and well...those other games are gonna have to wait I think.
Watch Dogs Legion is still my fav game of the year, but Outriders has zoomed up the charts and looks like it will be my #2. I know the devs worked to recover from the rough launch, but man, kinda blown away at this (for me) undiscovered gem
That's too bad. Wonder why they did not do the game and then have an upgrade option to purchase the end game stuff.
Godfall has been in and out of my wish list, it's on sale often but the discount is always very minimal. It looks interesting and I've heard the graphics are great. I do like looting and shooting. Hopefully there will be some sort of offer for the full game as an add-on. Also it will be nice to have the game back on people's radar, they seem to have been improving it after a less than stellar launch.
@Divergent95 I think the game did not follow typical heroes journey tropes. Geralt is older, exhausted and seems like he’s trying to muster up energy just in doing side quests. In a generation of games with earnest good looking heroes like Lara Croft and Nathan Drake, Geralt’s weathered weariness was downright refreshing. I have the same fond memories via rose colored glasses as most, although I recently checked out play throughs of W3 on YouTube and I was surprised to see how stilted and janky-ish the game seems now. Not sure if I would replay the game all over again, but I am interested to see what they come up with. Maybe I’ll complete those DLCs I never got around to finishing. I do feel like the game is like Halo, where you don’t have to be a Halo fan to see the impact the game has made. In AC Valhalla, which I just completed, I am still seeing homages to the Witcher 3, even now. It for sure had an impact on the industry. And it still does.
@thedevilsjester Yes they will probably do that for resolution.
Something like AC Valhalla or any number of PS5 games: Dynamic 2160t (2160p) (Quality) 30 FPS Dynamic 2160t (1600p) (Performance) 60 FPS
Full res for 30, turned down a bit for 60. I always want 60fps these days so that is the mode I will most likely be playing at.
Hopefully everyone has their expectations in check, this is not gonna look like the PC version, but I am sure it will look pretty great and certainly in line with other PS5 games.
As for the "less people" yes I did hear that and yes it seems I am wrong. I also remember something about road wetness adjustments...but my memory is even hazier around that...
Interesting to wonder how it will be updated. The game on PS5 currently runs at 60fps @ 1080p, so I am hoping it's actual 4K at 60fps.
If they add ray tracing, it will probably be in the current 1080p mode, not 4k + ray tracing.
I know they scaled back the people and stuff in the game, are they adding people back in? Can they still hit 4k/60fps with all the assets added back in? I wonder what needs to be sacrificed to get up to 4k.
I am sure loading times will be very speedy, so that will be a bonus.
I was going to grab it on sale this week and just start playing, although they actually seem to be on track this time, so I may wait.
Just got Outriders, $20 via current sale, hour or two in and it’s pretty fun. Looting and shooting with a cool Borderlands vibe. Game does a great job ramping you up quickly with various systems and options. Devs seem very committed to constant improvements. If you get stuck you can always dial back the World Tier you are on to make the current run a bit easier. Seems like a game you can jump in for 10 minutes or an hour or two. Still early yet but so far I think it’s hooking me in!
@Medic_Alert Agreed...I don't want to know anything about the new game and have avoided all screenshots and videos of it. I mean as best as I can, scenes popped up in the Mark Cerny video this week, so it's tricky. I avoided seeing stuff before the first game came out and went into it with awe. I've completed the first game, and the podcast sounds cool if it was just about Dawn, but I feel there will be things revealed about West. Cool concept though!
Was gonna wrap up AC Valhalla, 135 hours and level 469, but now I am into power levels and I realized I did not do the Siege of Paris DLC so started that. Great villain and more classic AC with stealth and assassinations, pretty fun so far. Also having fun with the current Oskoreia Festival. Probably keep playing for a while. Very interested in many of the Black Friday deals, so deciding on what to dive into next.
@dschons Agreed. Also these higher end Sony games are "system sellers", they move the Playstation to the #1 selling console. Same strategy as Nintendo. Without a constant steam of system sellers, you can end up way behind in hardware sales.
So this is the best quote from the article "for a number of years now the PlayStation Studios moniker has become a real seal of excellence"
It's true! I feel PS has the best and most diverse first party games, and yes they are a little pricier. And I don't mind paying for value.
It's like iPhone vs. Android. But Apple fans don't constantly cry and whine about pricy devices. They want the best and are willing to pay a lot for it. Android is less costly, flexible and a better fit for some. Both markets are doing fantastic and targeting different people. This article is basically saying "Yeah I went all in on Apple...but OMG why is it so expensive..can't they be cheaper like Android?"
It's great to have premium top of the line at low discount prices. But unfortunately this is not how things work.
Outriders for $20 looks like a good deal. As does Cyberpunk at $25. I feel like Cyberpunk PS5 is still a year away, may have to just get this version. Avengers, Deathloop, FC6, Riders Repub, Godfall, lot of good deals I am interested in, I need to do some deciding!
I tried the last free weekend. I was stunned at the amount of content, options, and things to do. But at 30fps and no HDR it just all looks so flat. Yes I am spoiled, but if they would only do 60fps and HDR this game could go for many more years. I do think Crew 3 will be our FH5, but that seems a ways off.
It would be great to see a redesigned stand for horizontal use. It always falls off no matter how tightly it is attached. Been looking at 3rd party options (like the NexiGo) which are basically two feet that slide on each end. Might get something like that.
Wish the build in help and cards were used more in more games. Still fumbling with my phone while trying to find a solution or tip while playing. Love to see a mini pop-over web browser on the PS5.
The 60fps <OR> 4K was not something I was expecting, thought it would be both on most games. I go for 60fps every time, can't go back.
The removal of USB save options is still a sore point. I really hope they allow saving backups to a thumb drive again like the PS4. What do people without PSPlus do?
@jamiestogden Would love to see a ranked infographic on flammable AC leads. I feel like if Eivor even hears crackling fire FHOOOP she goes up like a pile of balsa wood
This is very cool! Doing missions with Tiny Tina in Borderlands 3, I always missed the context because I never got to the DLC in Borderlands 2. I finished the B2 campaign and was thinking maybe I should go back, but it might be easier to just get this. And YES you can play as Gaige!…
“Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep: A Wonderlands One-Shot Adventure features all of Borderlands 2's uniquely powerful Vault Hunters—Axton, Maya, Salvador, Zer0, Gaige, and Krieg. All six are playable from the start, letting you jump straight into the action. Each Vault Hunter also has a new cosmetic Vault Hunter Head to collect in addition to their usual duds!
That's not the only added content, either. You'll find plenty of new toys to play with, including Kite Shields that push enemies back when broken, Loot-a-pults that launch random loot across the map, and even a couple of fan-favorite BL2 missions transported into the world of the Wonderlands.”
@Col_McCafferty Valhalla was a very slow burn for me, I was not into it until like 40 hours. It is however a great game to play for like 25 hour stretches in between other games. It’s great in chunks but straight through playing just the game it’s kinda long.

I've completed the first game, and the podcast sounds cool if it was just about Dawn, but I feel there will be things revealed about West. Cool concept though!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 403
Re: Talking Point: Is Sony Being Stingy with PS5's First-Party Pricing?
@dschons Agreed. Also these higher end Sony games are "system sellers", they move the Playstation to the #1 selling console. Same strategy as Nintendo. Without a constant steam of system sellers, you can end up way behind in hardware sales.
Re: Talking Point: Is Sony Being Stingy with PS5's First-Party Pricing?
Re: PS Store Black Friday Sale Live Now, Here Are the Best PS5, PS4 Deals
Outriders for $20 looks like a good deal. As does Cyberpunk at $25. I feel like Cyberpunk PS5 is still a year away, may have to just get this version. Avengers, Deathloop, FC6, Riders Repub, Godfall, lot of good deals I am interested in, I need to do some deciding!
Re: The Crew 2 Goes Crazy Taxi in The Contractor Season
I tried the last free weekend. I was stunned at the amount of content, options, and things to do. But at 30fps and no HDR it just all looks so flat. Yes I am spoiled, but if they would only do 60fps and HDR this game could go for many more years. I do think Crew 3 will be our FH5, but that seems a ways off.
Re: Dreams Central, a Social Entertainment Hub Made in Dreams, Hits Kickstarter
This looks very cool. Excited that one of their main inspirations is "The Urbz: Sims in the City"
Re: Relaxing Sandbox Grow: Song of the Evertree Plants Some Fantastical Seeds on PS4 Today
This looks awesome!
Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite PS5 Game So Far?
I would vote for Immortals Fenyx Rising if it was on the list 🙁
Re: Feature: PS5 Report Card - How Is It After One Year?
Re: Rainbow Six Extraction Will Be a $40 Game, Out 20th January
@RedKnight34 also wondering if there is a single player element

Re: Assassin's Creed Valhalla Celebrates One Year Anniversary with Some Startling Player Stats
@jamiestogden Would love to see a ranked infographic on flammable AC leads. I feel like if Eivor even hears crackling fire FHOOOP she goes up like a pile of balsa wood
Re: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep Loots Standalone PS4 Release
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 401
@Col_McCafferty Valhalla was a very slow burn for me, I was not into it until like 40 hours. It is however a great game to play for like 25 hour stretches in between other games. It’s great in chunks but straight through playing just the game it’s kinda long.
