As one unusual year comes to a close, another begins. The world is a strange place at the moment, and it doesn't look like we'll be getting back to normality any time soon. One more year we are happy to see the back of, it seems. At least we were kept occupied by PlayStation 5. Sony is selling the console as quickly as it can produce units, making it the fastest-selling system in the platform holder's history. It's still difficult to buy one, but those who manage it seem happy.
Fuelling that demand is a slate of released PS5 exclusives, including Returnal and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart from this year. Things slowed down a little in the second half of the year, but we were still treated to Director's Cut versions of Ghost of Tsushima and Death Stranding. Perfect entry points for anyone who missed out on the PS4 versions. With third-party blockbusters like Resident Evil Village and Hitman 3 on top, there was plenty to play throughout 2021.
With such a strong lineup of games to look back on, it's incredible to think that 2022 could put it to shame. Next year is going in all guns blazing. In the first few months alone, we have Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, and Forspoken to look forward to. God of War Ragnarok, Saints Row, Hogwarts Legacy, and possibly even Final Fantasy XVI are then expected in the second half of the year. It's an embarrassment of riches — any one of these titles could have been in contention for Game of the Year in 2021. It's safe to say PlayStation will keep us entertained this year, and that's just the stuff already announced.
As for us, we're committed to doing what we do best: delivering the very best coverage of PS5, PS4 news, reviews, and opinions. We've even got a new platform to add to that lineup this year: the next-gen PSVR headset. We can't wait to get stuck in with all these blockbuster games releasing in the next couple of months. Our coverage will be back to normal next week, but until then, we wish you a Happy New Year!
Happy new year to everyone at PS and the community! 🎉🎉🎉
Who's going to claim PSVR2 in 2022 as one of their predictions as it's not official yet. Or have you heard whispers?
@Integrity well I mean they did say not to expect it in 2021, meaning it’s probs gunna be 2022. Maybe at the end of the year? All the webpages big and small are also guessing that too
@kingbreww yeah. I was wondering if it's going to be one of those predictions they make.
vague hope for a dragon release this year, happy new year button mashers
happy new year everyone!
Happy New Year.
Shame to see no VITA at the end there. RIP
Happy New Year everyone! May all your wishes come true 🌟
Happy New Year!!!
Happy New Year! Hope 2022 is a good year for everyone.
Happy New Year guys n gals ! Here's to a great 2022 for both games and happiness in general. Hope you all stay safe and well ❤
Hyped for gaming in 2022. Some good stuff already set to happen in "real life" too - I just hope the world goes closer to normal so we no longer have to feel in danger by just getting on a bus or something.
Happy new year to our little community.
Happy New Year! Here's to what should be an incredible year of gaming on the PS5!
Don't tell some people that there was a strong lineup of games last year on the PS5. Believe it or not, I actually saw some comments from people that basically said there was nothing to play on it. It should be irrelevant in the end though, as 2022 should be good enough to make anybody forget that they thought 2021 was weak.
Here’s hoping this next year we only hear Greek letters like delta or omicron when we’re talking about video games set in Ancient Greece.
Happy New Year to all on PS.
2022 should be a monster year for gaming, if I was only allowed to play one new game this year it would be Horizon Forbidden West. Thankfully I don't face such restrictions so my wallet had better be ready!
Happy New Year to Push Square and this great community - looking forward to a great gaming year in 2022!
Happy new year playas.2022 is here.have fun enjoy life and stay safe.word up son
Happy New Year to everyone. Glad to be part of this amazing community. All your whishes to come true in 2022. Best regards!

@Integrity that’s why I don’t watch the news or follow any news pages anywhere. Nor do I read comments from people who do watch/follow the news. There’s nothing gained from it. And fear and outrage are number one and two in how to get peoples attention and attention equals watches and watches adverts. Which is what it’s all about. The battle to get our attention so we watch ads. Also it’s amazing my life has barely if at all changed from pre covid not paying any attention to the news
@kingbreww if you're life hasn't changed I'd like to know your secret! 😊👍 Going on holiday is much more expensive now, not to mention all the extra crap we have to put up with. Wearing a mask is another nuisance. And having to provide evidence to go to venues is another one. Then there's the distrust and judgemental attitudes people have of each other for wearing a mask/not wearing a mask, horrible to see.
I work in people's houses and to see how scared some people are just to go out, it's madness. The media has really done a job on them.
Happy New Year everyone...
I wish you all a happy, peaceful and fun filled 2022 and hope you have a lot of joy gaming on the platforms you have and in the games you enjoy.
It would be great to see 'gamers' united instead of divided by fanboyism as together, we are a strong voice to the industry. We have the 'power' to make positive change - Stand up against 'bad' practices (like harassment, inequality, MTX/NFT's, broken/poor state of games on release etc). Its 'difficult' to stand up against harassment etc when the 'fanboys' are guilty of doing the same!
Happy New Year to all. It’s shaping up to be a great year for PlayStation and generally a better year for human kind. NFTs could end up being the new virus thou.
Happy new year too you wonderful people!!!
2021 was the year I finally kicked my ESO habit lol was harder than quitting smoking
2022 is the year I clear my very extensive backlog
Happy gaming all!!
"With third-party blockbusters like Resident Evil Village and Hitman 3 on top, there was plenty to play throughout 2021"
Spoiler for GOTY!
Happy new year everyone. ❤️
Happy new year everyone, 2022 is going to be a stacked years with amazing games and probably one of the best gaming years in a long time (well if you game on playstation/Nintendo)
Happy New Year 🥳
Happy New Year and cheers to all in this lovely community of video game enthusiasts. Much love and blessings! Be well! Keep on gaming!
Happy New Year to all staff and the Push Square community.
Thanks for keeping us entertained during 2021 - Can't wait to see what this year has in store for us!
@Integrity The irony of being called ‘integrity’ while banging on about conspiracy theory nonsense like a 2-bit Van Morrison.
@nessisonett what conspiracy would that be? I'm not doing that at all. I just said I found the coincidence ALMOST believable as done on purpose. Meaning I actually don't. I went on to have a nice conversation with the other gentleman. I'm not here to upset people. I genuinely don't like how the media is handling the news, I can see how its making people I know suffer and reasonable folk talk disrespectfully to each other because they don't try to understand how the other person thinks
And then you do exactly that. Rude to me because you didn't like what I said. You could've said what you wanted without being rude but you chose to do it anyway.
Look, everytime you talk to me you're not nice so do me a favour and ignore me. And Happy New Year.
Happy New Year!
just recently discovered pushsquare. i'm really enjoying the blogs and the community is surprisingly nice and, dare i say, non-toxic? i love it here!
Happy new year! Let's hope it's full of 9s and 10s...
Here’s to what looks like a great year of gaming!
@Integrity I don’t go on holiday and I live in Western Australia. We’ve had an outbreak here atm, like 4 cases and have to wear masks. But we’ve had closed borders (including from all the other states) etc and only had a couple of short lockdowns and only had to wear masks like 3 times, maybe 4 for like a week or so each time. Got a great govt. over here mate, we basically don’t know what covid is. Even had our Aussie rules football grand final in my state at the end of September which was sold out with 61,000 plus in attendance and pubs and clubs etc have been open for 90% of the time covid has been around
@kingbreww ahhh got it. I thought you were English. My apologies for the assumption. Its great if you're experiencing life as close to how it used to be, I'm jealous! 😁
But there is a downside, games are too expensive there so I won't swap with you just yet 😆👍
@jitterping welcome, I'm relatively new too and there are some really nice people here.....and I love Ellie too ❤
@Integrity well I was born there mate, but been here since I was a lil kid. Games aren’t expensive here though? I play Ps5 btw. Horizon and gran turismo for example is $108 AUD or 58 quid and they’re the more expensive ones as most full priced AAA games you can get for just under 43 quid ($79 AUD) brand new. Is that expensive compared to you guys?
(Those prices are from the cheapest retailer. There’s a couple that do them prices and we have other stores that will price match those prices)
@kingbreww depends on when those prices are available. For example how much are the 1st party Sony games there online or in shops (forget the PSStore RRP) Over here you can sometimes get £10 off.
Edit: did you mean Horizon and GT pre-orders for the new games? If so thats a good price)
Or how much is Assassin Creed Valhalla there now (physical) its £20 here. Riders Republic is £27 on PS5. Far Cry 6 £28 right now. (Don't know why i picked all Ubi games 😆 just happen to be prices i know)
@Integrity well those prices I mention are in store prices for pre orders at 2 retailers here.I usually shop in store. Amazon can be cheaper at times though as for Black Friday I got returnal $50 delivered (26.88 pounds). As I said another (EB games) will price match those prices. Only the in store prices though, not Amazon.
AC Valhalla is $39 here atm or 20.96 pounds. Riders republic is $49 or 26.34 pound. Far cry 6 is $46 or 24.73 pounds
@kingbreww ohh..well *****. It's not enough you've got a the best weather, gorgeous people, my favourite animal (Quokka. I love those cute buggers!) and now you've even got cheaper preorders and games! Ok, I'm an electrician, get me in!
@Integrity lmao me and the wife just went to Rottnest about a month ago. Haven’t been for years though. That’s one places that’s pretty expensive if you stay over night though. Prices aren’t bad here but cos it’s an island away from everything you pay a premium. Not too bad if you just have a day over there tho. Lmao now would be the time for it’s the vax mandates for unvaccinated workers not being allowed to be employed in 75% of industries has just kicked in. And there’s always a few ***** who’d rather throw in their job than do the right thing and get vaccinated
Happy New Year! I really enjoyed the site this past year, keep up the great work!
I'm looking forward to Horizon 2, GT7, GoWR and FF16. I hope we see them all in 2022! Stoked for OlliOlli World too.
