Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 459

Finally got around to playing Godfall (and finally figured out all the logistics to upgrade to the Ultimate Edition on PS) and I have to say it's such a fun game. There is some sort of plot which I am not really following but the combat, visuals, color themes, menu systems and music/sound are all stellar. Very addicting looter shooter. I am not playing end game first, but starting from the beginning of the story. I love how you can revisit huge areas to grind, level and find more secrets. It strikes a great balance between making you feel like an absolute slayer but keeps you in check with challenging fights. Very similar to Diablo where you can boot up and just have a blast blasting. I feel kinda bad I got into this game so late, since I think development has stopped. This game (in it's current state) deserves more acclaim. Highly recommended.

Also started Lego Star Wars - The Skywalker Saga and it's such a delight, mix of open world and linear missions, always tons to do and it looks/sounds amazing on PS5. Have not really played previous Lego games, and there seems to be a lot of menus and systems that are not fully explained well, but it's so fun I don't really care. I was also expecting a wacky Star Wars spoof, but it's really a dedicated and thrilling homage to the film series with just a slight sprinkle of non-canon humor. Not sure if there is an Epic Big-Budget Cozy Games genre, but this one nails it, so delightful!

As always, spending way too much time in Disney Dreamlight Valley, took my tree and all my indoor/outdoor Christmas decorations down this week and doing a lot of Winter redesigning in the Frosted Heights biomes while finishing up the current battle pass before it ends

This is kinda like republishing a launch review of Cyberpunk 2077 for PS4 while the (amazing) PS5 version is out. Yes Fallout 76 had the roughest of launches but it is now a 13 million player massive RPG with tons of content and features, and absolutely worth the free download. I am 300 hours in and still feel like I've just scratched the surface. Do check it out and check out the many updates and the "Look Back at 2022" post: https://fallout.bethesda.net/en/news

Re: Poll: Are You Playing The Witcher 3's PS5 Upgrade?

PS should do an article on using a PS4 save on the PS5 version. Many steps including changing settings in the PS4 version, cloud saves, QR codes, registering an account on the web on GOG, etc. PS5 version does not just load in your PS4 save and you’re off.

Awesome! The PS5 interface is finally crafted, but for 2 years I have been staring at full screen wallpaper ads on the Home Screen that are busy, awkwardly placed, and are not all all designed to merge in with the interface (such as https://www.denofgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/20201118150822.jpg?resize=1024,576)

This looks 100% better and (I think) clearly paves the way for themes

Looking forward to this new design direction

@KaijuKaiser Good call on waiting for the PS6 to come out before playing. Personally I am waiting for the PS7 version, because they will have a remastered version out by then. Why waste time playing a current-gen version when an improved version is right around the corner, only a decade or so away. I am very happy to wait.

Playing lotsa Disney Dreamlight Valley I’ve been doing the new Halloween quests and star paths, so I have a lot of scary decorations now and have been slowly building up my house and yard for the holiday. Getting some amazing design and fashion inspiration from the Dreamlight Reddit. Been farming often and have over 2 million in the bank, so spending more than I should at Scrooge’s store. Also recently unlocked Minnie and Elsa and they’re keeping me busy. Never knew I was into cozy games but here we are…

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Popularity Still Soaring a Month After Edgerunners Anime and Update

I hate to say it, after the company drama and lying and all, but currently on PS5 this is an AMAZING game. Fantastic visuals, huge open world, engaging storylines and great characters I am STILL thinking about after the campaign.

Before I got sucked into playing Disney Dreamlight Valley daily, it was my main game, I have 85 hours (so far) into Cyberpunk 2077 and still have much to do post-campaign.

It's a safe bet it will be on sale on PSN for $25 this holiday season and I can't think of an easier recommendation if you love RPGs.

Re: Disney Dreamlight Valley (PS5) - An Irresistibly Charming Life Sim

This game is amazing! I feel like it's going to be 2023's new Animal Crossing. The graphics, colors, music, dialog, characters, locations, everything is so charming and impressive. There are lots (and lots) of quests and always tons to do. You can jump in for 2 minutes or 2 hours. Or like me, jump in for 2 minutes and it turns into 2 hours. It also does not feel like a mobile game, it feels like a PS5 game with dazzling graphics, fast-loading and 60fps. I've had zero technical issues with it in the first 10 hours, no camera issues or anything.

My only recommendation is to get the Ultimate Edition, because it comes with 20k of Moonstones which helps you build and adds a ton of cool extras, and you cannot buy Moonstones (or anything) until next year. You can earn Moonstones over time by doing quests of course, but it's nice to have a phat bank account to start. In addition, Moonstones help accelerate the battle pass, which is currently the Pixar Star Path, providing faster access to stuff, including a lot of Pixar swag.

There is a little apprehension because we won't know how exactly battle passes and micro transactions will work until next year. But here's the thing: Even if you bought the base $29 version you'll be getting a full 30-50 hour game (according to How Long to Beat) that you can play now and skip anything coming up next year.

(Gameloft has firmly stated that micro transactions will be cosmetics only. They also said down the line there will be paid expansions (DLC) like most games, with new worlds/realms, and that the expansions will not impact the original full game experience offered at launch)

The game is also a great palette cleanser after hours of intense fighting in other games, it's so chill and you will have a smile on your face the whole time. Looking forward to the development of this, I feel like it's off to a great start

Re: Assassin's Creed Is Dropping PS4 with Infinity's Red, Hexe, and Beyond

frankmcma

@twitchtvpat I am still not sure exactly what Infinity is, the devs said this week that “Infinity is not a new game” and they might “look into ways to add multiplayer” at some point. But then there is also a stand alone multiplayer called Invictus that devs say will probably be free to play. Anyway I thought this was going to be like the Fallout 76 of the Fallout games, but seems more like a hub for content that allows any Infinity user to play instead of having it tied more directly into a specific title. Either way it’s exciting to see how the series expands in the coming years.

Re: We're Sure Fans Will Be Rational Over This The Last of Us PS5 Clip

Price will go down, look at Horizon Forbidden West, $70 launch this past February, now 6 months later on sale for $50, this holiday probably half off $35. Eventually a Playstation Hits for $20 with $10 sales.

Also I feel that TLOU Part 1 is absolutely headed for PS Plus Extra/Premium, probably sooner than we think, maybe Spring?

Some will get it day one, some 6 months or a year later. I think you can almost pay what you want as long as you are willing to wait.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 433

Been playing just Tiny Tina Wonderlands non-stop weekly and finally decided to take a break (before a family intervention occurred) and thought now is the time, it's finally the moment for Cyberpunk 2077 PS5. Years of disappointment, delays, scandals, so I was expecting to take a look and maybe bounce off of it. I am now 20 hours in and it is kind of...awesome?

Great Fallout vibe with a defined sense of place, tons to do and collect, lots of missions, great characters, and bold stylish art direction. Have not hit any bugs, although travel is kind of a downer. Cars are hard to drive (motorcycle fixed that) and needs auto-drive like Watch Dogs Legion, fast travel never seems to be near you, and so much is vertical, it would be close to impossible to find stuff high up without the mapping system. When Mr. Reeves shows up along with a plot twist, it was a damper, because he seems so annoying (the character, not the icon of course) but we seem to be starting to bond...so who knows?

Anyway...having a lot of fun and combat surprised me, its tight and varied with lot of weapon options and almost infinite types of builds. Surprisingly impressed so far. Looking forward to more hours in the world.

Re: The Crew 2 Finally Burns Rubber at 60fps on PS5 This July

frankmcma

@Shigurui These are not UBI updates with all these games on Series X, its a MS FFP boost hack which drops the resolution to half, and I feel they don't look great.

I would much rather wait for official 60fps updates for their back catalog, which UBI clearly seems to be working on.
