Update []:
Sorry to burst your bubble folks, but it looks like that big Fallout rumour from earlier in the week really was just a misunderstanding.
As per our original story below, veteran development studio Iron Galaxy had posted an imagine that seemed to suggest it was about to embark on some kind of Fallout-related project.
Naturally, the internet lost its mind and immediately assumed that the team had been assigned to the long-rumoured Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas remasters.
The latter in particular, given that the 'Please Stand By' picture featured a desert background.
We weren't totally sold on it being an out-and-out tease, but the story gained significant traction nonetheless, and it was picked up by numerous websites.
Anyway, the noise clearly became too much, because Iron Galaxy's had to come out and deny the whole thing.
"Nope! There is nothing to see here," it writes on X (formerly Twitter).
"Sorry to disturb the volcanoes, but that was just a BTS look at our company meeting. We use that slide every month and has nothing to do with anything Fallout being worked on. As you can imagine, we love Fallout, too. Now pardon us as we retreat back into our vault."
In our original story, we did suggest that someone on the team might just be a big Fallout fan — and our theory wasn't too far from the truth!
And so, the wait for Fallout's revival continues...
Original Story: Developer Iron Galaxy appears to be teasing something to do with Fallout, sparking plenty of speculation from franchise fans.
A few days ago on LinkedIn, the studio posted a rather eyebrow-raising image, which was largely overlooked until now. The photo shows two work monitors, both of which are adorned with the classic 'Please Stand By' TV slide from the Fallout games.
The picture is accompanied by text, which reads: "Today’s our February company meeting. It’s time to catch up with what the company’s been up to and what’s coming up next for Iron Galaxy."
Now, it could just be that someone on the team's a big Fallout fan — but it's a bit weird to feature this on the company's page, isn't it?
The developer's been in business for close to 20 years, and in that time, it's mostly been a support studio, producing only a handful of original titles such as Xbox fighter Killer Instinct, the ill-fated Rumbleverse, and, much more recently, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4.
The thing is, Iron Galaxy has worked closely with Bethesda in the past. It helped port Skyrim to the Nintendo Switch, and it worked on Fallout 76 to some degree.
Maybe this is a teaser for new Fallout 76 content that it's cooking up — but we suppose it's much more exciting to think that Iron Galaxy is actually going to be the team behind the long-rumoured Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas remasters.
At this point it's worth noting that Virtuos, the multi-studio company that crafted Oblivion Remastered, was widely assumed to be on the leaked Fallout 3 revival — but we haven't had any kind of confirmation on that front.
So, do you think Iron Galaxy is hinting at something here? Or are we all just getting desperate for Fallout news? Watch the bombs drop in the comments section below.
