As hungry as I am for a DMC-like to fill the gap before a DMC6 or remake game, I think I'm ok holding off on this. Might check it out later. Besides, this Fall is already pretty bloated with AAA and indie releases that I want.
In the absence of a new Devil May Cry, I am certainly thirsty for more similar games. So this was not extremely on my radar until recently. That said, I think I'll hold off for now. Might check it out at a later time, plus too many other new games right now.
Loved the game. The gameplay did a lot of that work for me. The game leaned heavily into weird, supernatural elements, which usually I only like in smaller doses in MGS, but for some reason the creepy vibes of like, the Skull Unit, the Man on Fire, etc. it all kept me engaged.
Was disappointed when I heard about the cut content with Eli and that whole plot. I don't think it would have saved it, but would have definitely felt a little less rushed.
Lesson learned I guess. I'm one of the "victims". I was actually pretty excited for this one. Honestly, the lame Snake figure I can forgive, especially for how small it is, but it's the plants which look nothing like advertised and the steelbook being DVD size and not blu-ray. Those grind my gears but alas.
And no, I'm not put off of Collector's Editions. I actually rarely buy them unless it's a game/series I truly love and there's a statue included AND enough overall value to justify it. This is honestly the first one I've gotten in over a decade that's been lackluster.
Echoing a few other people's comments, I would like to see them follow through with the MGS Collection vol 2. It's been a time since I played MGS V and I would really like to trophy hunt it again and enjoy that gameplay a second time. In addition, if they manage to get MGS4 working for it, then even better.
It would come as little surprise that I am a fan of the Ghostrunner series since I have Jack as my avatar. So while I am feeling a little souls-like fatigue, these devs earned my trust and this one at least looks pretty interesting.
I just 100%'d the game back in June. Guess I gotta get ready for some more cult trophy hunting! New content seems really fun and interesting. New weapon type is cool.
Excited for Sword of the Sea, Unicorn Overlord was on my radar, and I might consider checking out MK1. The other one that piqued my interest was Indika. I heard good things, but the one or two times I looked into images/video on that game, I was very perplexed by what it actually is lol
Any update on the release date? They've said this year, but 2025 is pretty far in now, so just wondering. I don't worry about this with indies too much, since they can typically drop things pretty quickly with short notice.
Enjoyed the first, recently played the second, and got the third in my backlog.
When I played the second, it had been in my backlog for YEARS. Didn't realize it had one freaking online trophy which was unobtainable T_T No plat for me. I never checked beforehand, yes, but I also never expected a singeplayer game to have a slapped on online trophy.
Gonna counter all the negativity and say I think they're pretty nice. The first batch was better for sure, but I think these are nice. Definitely will use that Kratos/Atreus one for sure.
Assuming the beta will be just pvp and not vs the cpu? I would love to try this (and I'm not a person who typically springs for a beta) but I'm a filthy casual so I'll get wrecked for sure lmao
Same here on the Burnout love. I still own a PS2 slim and one of the best gifts my wife ever got me was Burnout 3 again after I had traded it in so many years back. Within 15 minutes all the gameplay instincts and adrenaline came rushing back and I was having so much fun. It was an absolute blast. I’ve never wanted a remake/remaster for something so bad.
It also illustrated what I love about that game (and Revenge) but didn’t like about Paradise. Paradise being open world hurt the car combat aspect so much. It leaned too much into generic racer by giving the player (and AI opponents) different routes to take and making so many roads crazy wide. Takedowns were a novelty in that game and it just really didn’t deliver on those classic feelings.
Maybe I’ll check this out, see if it can scratch the itch.
Can never get sick of this series. Just really simple but overwhelming fun. Was so happy with the recent remasters of the old Katamari games. Thought this was another, but a brand new one? I'll gladly play it.
Oh that's cool. Every once in a while I get a craving to play it (it's addicting!) and I was always sad I missed out on the Vita version (was it on PS3 also?). So that's really cool if true.
Yep that's the kind of mature, forward-thinking that I try to employ as much as possible, because you're exactly right. A few days/weeks of "this is awesome" then it's back to "same old, same old". So I'm trying to do the same here.
In a similar-ish boat. I can't personally justify dropping $100 for the Premium edition (I think this has all the DLC needed to get 100% trophies). Even on sale right now at $75 is a lot for what is basically a 4-year old game. And while others may disagree with that (and that's fine), I am just ok waiting for a bigger drop at some point.
Yeah, that is absolutely true, I'd be lucky to get a little more than half of what I paid. I truly do like the black a hundred times more (the white color scheme for the console itself is too dull for me), but the question is, yes, is it worth it? I'm leaning toward no. I usually don't give in to FOMO but we'll see.
I'm happy with the DualSense which is pretty nice. If I didn't already have a Portal, I'd consider it for that. And while I don't regret buying my Portal, I did it too soon, because just a month after I got it, the 30th anniversary came out, and then they also released a black version too which looks nice.
I'm the kind of lunatic that juggles like 4-7 games at one time, jumping between a few throughout the day. But today I anticipate working on Tony Hawk 3+4 some more, Shooty Fruity, a fun PSVR game, and Samurai Warriors 4. If I have time, I wan to also work on Sniper Elite Resistance's Authentic Difficulty some more.
I'd be mostly in favor of that. I rolled my eyes a little with what they did with TLOU 1 and 2, but I'd be fine with a Ratchet & Clank anthology collection with every single game on it (I guess minus Rift Apart) and something similar with GoW and Killzone for PS3 era.
Sorry, I meant remasters in general in the PlayStation family, not specifically on PS5. All the others are PS3 collections obviously, but yeah I suppose I should have specified. I meant to say a lot of other franchises have gotten the remaster/HD collection treatment at some point.
Please! The fact that we don't have these remastered but every single God of War under the sun is beyond baffling to me (no shade on GoW, just saying).
Almost every major 1st party franchise from the PS2 and PS3 era has been remastered but not inFamous. Make it happen and take my money!
Considering that points can only be earned for a few more days (and I think you can redeem until November), I'm wondering if it makes any sense for me to just go ahead and buy a few games I've been eyeing for a while. Things like Stellar Blade or Baldur's Gate III, games that have been on sales, but I keep waiting to see if they'll ever drop to $40 or less. Like it's literally spend money to make money (points in this case) so I feel like there's no real urgency to spend right now.
Having never played THPS4 before, I have no basis for the original, and therefore the experience should hopefully not be marred by the comparison. That said, I've only done the first level in that tour so far. So we'll see.
My only gripe is they got a super low amount of the original soundtrack back. I think only 10 songs total. The 1+2 collection had a bigger share of the originals from those games. And don't get me wrong, some of the new tracks are gelling with me, but many are not.
Between this, Marvel 1943 and that supposed Iron Man game, Marvel fans will be eating good...... in a few years lol. Marvel 1943 is supposedly next year, everything else seems far off. Oh well.
Ohhhh yeah, you're right about that. Thankfully, I don't even need physical for that anymore. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle ran so hard my PS5 shutdown on me several times for overheating lmao. (eventually fixed it but yeah, sheeeeeeeesh)
I wish the separation between physical and digital sales wasn't so great. I got pinged for some really good deals here for PS5 games, many of which are at all time lows in price. But in almost every single case, I want the game digitally instead.
It's weird for me to say this, as someone who was a kid in the PS1 era, and thus has dealt with discs his whole gaming life, but I am really over physical for the most part lol. I make a good amount of exceptions, but let's just say I am getting lazy as I get older haha.
In any case, I'll probably bend and end up grabbing one or two. Hard to pass up some of these deals when they're undercutting digital by like $20-$30 in some cases.
Very mildly related but I just started Evil West and it's definitely scratching a few itches. Western (fantasy) setting, DMC/GoW gameplay vibes. Enjoying it quite a bit.
I'm holding hope that this is just a KOTOR situation (but just not nearly as hopeless). Not sure if Square is developing it in house or not, but they or Sony saw the early previews and were like "this needs to cook more".
The fact that there are no "Get Theres" (at least on the surface) makes me both relieved and disappointed. They were so insanely tough to pull off, but boy was it satisfying to do so.
I never knew who this guy was until recently. Watched two videos from people talking about how bad his stance against SKG was and he comes off as the most smug, know-it-all, d-bag ever. Hope he eats crow soon.
Isn't it so wild that for all the big 1st party franchises that got HD treatments in the PS3 and PS4 eras, we never got inFamous HD collection? Seriously, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, Uncharted, Jak and Daxter, almost every God of War game, TLOU (the first of many remasters), and then other franchises like Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, Spyro, etc. But never inFamous.

BL4 and Ghost of Yotei might be my final AAA purchases of the year? I think? Otherwise, got my eyes on a few indie releases.
