Still waiting for Sonic Superstars to drop to $30 or less. Every sale it's never lower than $35. So I guess it'll be a while still.
Also why is Sony still selling Elden Ring standard edition for $59.99? EVERY other retailer has it for $40-$45 and that is not a sale price, that's just what it's been cut down to.
On the one hand, there’s always that “aw man” feeling when a game you bought ends up free, but in the case of Sifu, it was money very well spent.
Sifu was a GOTY contender for me. Loved it so much. There are so few games that hit that perfect blend of challenge and engagement, and I think everyone is a little different, but where ok, I died 15, 20, 40 times, but I feel myself getting better each time. My reactions/timing are better, I’m reading the boss’ attacks better, I got him down to half health, 30% health, ONE hit and I would have beat him—I DID IT! Sifu managed to capture that intensely satisfying feeling of “mastery” where you just felt yourself getting better with practice, and feeling like you really owned a boss.
Like I said, a lot of other games, I would just get frustrated well before that point, lost my patience, etc. Sifu managed to keep me engaged all the way until I felt I had mastered it (or close enough). That satisfaction of dodging a boss perfectly and pummeling them, when hours/days before you were getting destroyed. So few games have pulled that satisfaction off for me. Souls games have done it, but not many others.
I'm a very late adopter to PSVR1 (bought it Jan of 2022) and I've only played about 6-7 games on it so far, with another 5-6 in my backlog. So it'll be a long time before I get onto PSVR2 unfortunately.
One benefit is that maybe there'll be a decent sale. I feel like the high price point is a factor for a lot of people. PSVR1 had a big sale in 2019 for Black Friday I think, so maybe something similar will happen.
YouTube is awful when a big new game comes out. If you use the app like me and swipe the main feed (usually "suggested videos"), you can wind up running into spoilers without warning. People who just want views (or to be trolls) will put spoilers in the TITLE and the thumbnail.
Think I had something from GoW Ragnarok spoiled for me that way. So just a friendly reminder to all with that. Be careful!
I mean to be fair, there are a number of games that have their platinum just called "Platinum Trophy" but as two words. Pretty sure I have a few of them myself. This is the first time I've seen it as one word which yeah, makes it sound like a little bit of laziness went in lol.
Edit: curiosity got the better of me. I have at least 24 platinums that are just called "Platinum Trophy".
The list surprised me. Too many to list but it includes most of the Sniper Elite games, L.A. Noire, SW Battlefront II, Subnautica, Bioshock 1 and Bioshock 2, Battlefield 4, and even Batman: Arkham Asylum.
I really, really enjoyed this game a lot. Totally in favor of additional content. Rare for me to want this, but I actually would love a boss rush mode. They were so fun and creative, and the flashy counterattacks were fun to pull off.
@NarutosBiggestFan yeah I think this was my only real big complaint. The game was very "stop and start"-y because of having to pause and look at the map every 3 seconds. I don't see any reason they could not have implemented a small mini map or something. I also did not play on Guided Mode, but I doubt that would have helped with collectibles anyway.
So I've had an itch for a good Gundam game for a loooooong while now. I played a few of the ones from the PS2 era and mostly enjoyed them.
I feel like most of the contemporary games are more like fighting and/or PVP stuff? Guessing there really might not be any in the style I'm looking for right now.
I tried to play it for the first time last night. A 40 min wait and then a 20 min wait after closing the app and restarting. Neither wait got me in, so it's about what I expected.
As unfortunate as it is, I'm not gonna be mad at the devs. It really was a whirlwind I'm sure. The fact that they're working on it is good enough for me. I'll keep trying here and there and hope for the best, but I'm a patient dude.
Double Post sorry (but it's for a good reason!) but I also NEED to emphasize everyone needs to play Outer Wilds! I just finished it a week or so ago and it was one of the best games I've ever played.
I'm sure it might not literally be for everyone, but it was a great game for those who love exploration and discovery. One of those games where people say "I wish I could erase my memory and experience the story again."
Wasn't Civilization just added a few months ago? My perception of time is really bad but I swear it was added within the last 2-3 months. Actually, Code Vein is also pretty recent too I think?
It's funny because I'd say for the most part, stuff on the service stays fairly long. I'd say the majority of stuff since launch is still on there, with a few exceptions. Stray/Yakuza series stayed maybe almost a year? A few things dropped off after 6-7 months maybe but even that seems rare.
But yeah, this feels like a rarer case of a quick departure, assuming my guess is right.
I mean, I'm pretty pumped if Hi-Fi Rush makes it over. One of the few Xbox exclusives I would love to play. Can live without Starfield, Indiana Jones, etc.
This game had a unique feature called Infected Mode, where you could link your PSP to your PS3 and your copy of Resistance 2 and enable unique benefits that gave Grayson special abilities, extra items, health regen, and slightly altered the story too.
Wonder if that will be implemented at all, maybe a menu toggle?
Oh Resistance Retribution. I wrote a few gamefaqs guides for that game back in the day. God, that was so long ago.
Looking forward to this, even though I bought NFS Unbound a while back. Got lucky with Evil West and Plague Tale Requiem last month though--almost bought those but held off. So I won't complain too much.
Edit: Just remembered that Resistance had a special feature where you could connect your PSP to your PS3 (with Resistance 2 on it) and unlock unique features in the game. Wonder how that will work (if at all) here.
There's very few Xbox games I'm absolutely clamoring for. No full series really. Hi-fi Rush is probably the one I'm most interested in. And I am definitely interested in that Blade game. Aside from that, mild interest in Forza, Indiana Jones, and that's about it.
I'm on the US store and I can't seem to find the specific deals page for this one? Like, I can see individual games like Submerged 2 and GigaBash on sale when I search, but I can't find the deals page with all the other items in this sale.
All I see right now are Critic's Choice, Indies sale, and Games under $20. I feel like I'm missing something.
Edit: nvm it was the Indies sale. For some reason I didn't see the games on my first pass and the article mentioned DLC, and while Indies definitely can have DLC, it wasn't my first thought.
FFVIII is still my favorite FF and possibly my favorite game of all time. Weirdly, I'm not against the idea of changing up the Junction system. I'm open to exploring new ideas in a hypothetical remake.
I'm in favor of a lot of this. I also am a huge DMC nut so while that series is not nearly as dormant as the others, I hope there will be a DMC6 some time in the next couple years!
This was my GOTY runner up for 2022, loved it so much. That said, no more challenge DLC updates, please! I've 100%'d the game each time it was updated, total of 3x each for both systems haha. Sequel instead please.
From what I've watched of it, it actually looks pretty interesting and the story definitely has me intrigued. Gameplay looks "ok" at best, but yeah, I just don't think I can justify playing it now until it drops in price and maybe gets some QoL updates in the future.
I hate so much when I'm a fan of something or in a fanbase community for something and one person/a few people are being loud, insane idiots. A case of one/a few ruining it for everyone. Like you don't speak for me, stop being a whackjob.
Especially to do this to Insomniac. They're like a shining example of a great dev team. Why do this. Ugh.
THIS, so much this. Like, don't get me wrong, Burnout Paradise was fine, but the open world aspect makes it SUCH a different game from Burnout 3/Revenge.
I still own a PS2 slim and a few years ago my fiancee bought me Burnout 3 on PS2 (I traded away my og copy LONG ago). Let me tell you, I had an absolute BLAST playing that again. The speed, adrenaline, hard hits (takedowns). It's just a whole different experience from Paradise.
I would love for either a new game in that vein, or remasters of 3/Revenge.
I've had Samurai Warriors 4 and 4-II in my wishlist for over 2 years now, maybe close to 3. They've been $60 and $50 respectively every single day in that span. So you can imagine my shock when I saw a notification today that they were both on sale!
I actually bought SW4 physically off ebay since I wasn't going to wait around, but I thought that was kinda funny/interesting.
This is a bit niche, but one aspect that I'm really interested in--and I'm latching onto it from the first look trailer--is the idea of taking off from a planet, passing through the atmosphere, entering another planet's atmosphere, etc. Little to no loading screens. To me, that's just an amazing idea and showcase of technology, etc.
I feel like not a lot of games pull this off, and I'm actually playing Outer Wilds for the first time right now, and that game does this, albeit on a very small scale.
Cynically, I don't expect Outlaws' planets to be gigantic planet-sized areas of complete exploration, that just sounds like so much work and also insanely large open worlds. But still I'm hoping for some freedom to land/take off from certain pockets of mini open-worlds, several per planet. That would be cool.
Would definitely say 8.5-9 area. I was surprised at how much I was enjoying it, because the demo didn't really hit on some of the better notes.
Combat was more fleshed out than initially revealed (the combo challenges taught me a lot). The Metroid-Vania aspects were also undersold in the demo, so I really enjoyed getting those new abilities to explore more, change up gameplay, etc. Visuals were great, bosses were satisfying and challenging at times.
My only complaint so far (I think I'm about 60-70% done) is some of the abilities don't feel implemented that well. One ability I totally forgot I had because the game didn't really make me use it much after getting it. It didn't always follow that Zelda rule of making you use the new gadget/power against the boss. Sometimes, but not always.
Had a fun time with Kona while it was part of the Extra/Premium tier selection. Nice atmospheric, slowburn kind of game. Definitely a bargain for that price!
Meanwhile, for me, I keep waiting for Sonic Superstars to hit $30 or less digitally. It's been that cheap on Amazon, but this is a rare case where I would rather get it digitally.
I really hope we'll get a trailer for Ghost of Tsushima 2. And maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but a debut trailer showing gameplay. Because gameplay will tell me it could be a 2025 or worst case, 2026 game. If we get a teaser with no gameplay, it's probably 2-3 years out at least. Considering the first game is going to be 4 years old this year, you hope the sequel is coming within the next year or two.
The Digital Deluxe edition was on sale recently (if it's not still), and I think it was $43 give or take for the game and season pass which includes all 3 DLCs. I jumped on that because I figured a Complete Edition was gonna be more expensive.
This is actually kinda funny lol. Hero Wars is the bane of my YouTube viewing experience. I think I've seen literally 500+ ads for that game, and it always looks different.
Good: My decision to hold off on Plague Tale and Evil West paid off. Had both in my wishlist for months but was waiting for an amazing sale or... this!
Bad (just specifically for me): Just bought NStW on sale this month. This is after December Extra/Premium games added Tinykin to the list, which I also bought at the same time as NStW.
@Jaz007 inFamous 1&2 is like the big missing piece for older PS2/PS3 remasters.
Most of the major PS2 and PS3 franchises got HD remaster treatment on PS3/PS4. Ratchet and Clank, multiple GoW games, Uncharted, Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter, The Last of Us, Ico/SotC, and several more.
Where's inFamous 2 HD? Would love to play it again, on PS5.
I wonder if Embracer can sell off the license rights to another studio, or if Disney has any power to do anything? Can't help but feel it would be in better hands with another dev team.
lol I almost want to compile a list of "games I buy on sale and put in my backlog, only for them to be free on PS+ a year later". I feel the length of that list would frighten me.
I just recently started Xenoverse 2. An excuse to play through FighterZ again on PS5 would be an added bonus. Between those two games and the new Budokai (whenever that's coming out), and the new arcs of Super hopefully being animated soon, not a bad time at all to be a DBZ fan.
That actually would make a lot of sense. And that would help me from pulling the trigger on the Black Friday sale price for it right now. $35 seems like an amazing deal, but if it's gonna hit Plus then maybe it's best to wait. Question is, how long?
I figured it would be wishful thinking to hope Baldur's Gate 3 or Armored Core 6 might get a small discount.
Also just friendly reminder for those who are considering pulling the trigger on some things. Be wary of overlapping sales that may have deluxe editions on sale for the same game. Last year I got burned when I bought Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga and Sonic Origins in the BF sale for $29.99 and $19.99 respectively. Two days before the BF sale ended, another one started which overlapped. Both games had the deluxe editions on sale for $34.99 and $24.99 respectively. I was SO pissed lol.
So maybe consider waiting until the sale is almost over before doing anything.
I'm totally dying for a very standard Gundam experience with no multiplayer stuff, but it feels like there's very, very few of those, and I assume this game here is probably the same.
Rest of the games seem ok, nothing crazy. I'll have to look at a few to know more.
@DonkeyFantasy Agreed. I wish they'd kill off the PS4 already, but supposedly Sony plans to launch games for it all the way up through 2025.
By 2025 the PS5 will be closing in on 5 years old and we'll probably be hearing EARLY PS6 rumors at that point. Yet the PS4 will still be getting new games.
Could see it being a DMC type of deal... Miles takes point for the first half of the story, then because of story reasons, Peter has to get called back into action and joins late either 1/3 of the way or 1/2 of the way and you switch temporarily, before being able to use both of them freely again.
Like many fans, Peter Parker is my og, my childhood, etc. so I always like playing as him. But I love Miles too, so this is not a dealbreaker if they really get rid of Peter.
On the one hand, these feel worse (just my personal opinion) than the predictions I was seeing: Midnight Suns, Plague Tale Requiem, Forspoken, etc. On the other hand, I don't have any of these, so maybe it'll be worth a look.
Visually it looks pretty darn good. I just feel like my excitement is dampened slightly by the idea that this looks like a 1:1 remake. I'm guessing there will be some interface changes, QoL updates, etc., but the map areas so far look 1:1 to the original, just prettier.
I think remakes, especially when we're talking 3 generations ago should bring something new, strike that balance of recreating the original but modernizing it, improving it, etc. Like I want to play MGS3 and experience something new and better than the first time I ever played it. I'm worried this is just gonna be exactly the same game but just with great visuals (not that it's a bad thing).

Re: Disney Says There's 'Still a Lot of Demand' for Knights of the Old Republic Remake
I wonder if Embracer can sell off the license rights to another studio, or if Disney has any power to do anything? Can't help but feel it would be in better hands with another dev team.
Re: PS Plus Extra Game for December May Have Leaked Early
lol I almost want to compile a list of "games I buy on sale and put in my backlog, only for them to be free on PS+ a year later". I feel the length of that list would frighten me.
Re: Mini Review: The Lord of the Rings: Return To Moria (PS5) - Survival Adventure Not Worth Treasuring
Might be something I check out for under $20 but oof. Sad news.
Re: PS Plus Premium Will Add PS1's Star Wars: The Phantom Menace Next
I have some memories still of this game, most of them not good lol. Remember needing cheat codes to beat Darth Maul at the end.
Anyone remember Jedi Power Battles? Wonder if that'll come over.
Re: Sublime Anime Brawler Dragon Ball FighterZ's PS5 Rollback Netcode Is Getting Closer
I just recently started Xenoverse 2. An excuse to play through FighterZ again on PS5 would be an added bonus. Between those two games and the new Budokai (whenever that's coming out), and the new arcs of Super hopefully being animated soon, not a bad time at all to be a DBZ fan.
Re: Magical PS5 FPS Immortals of Aveum Is Probably Coming to PS Plus at Some Point
That actually would make a lot of sense. And that would help me from pulling the trigger on the Black Friday sale price for it right now. $35 seems like an amazing deal, but if it's gonna hit Plus then maybe it's best to wait. Question is, how long?
Re: Huge PS Store Black Friday Sale Live Now, 1,000+ PS5, PS4 Games on Offer
Re: 14 PS Plus Extra, Premium Games Coming Next Week
I'm totally dying for a very standard Gundam experience with no multiplayer stuff, but it feels like there's very, very few of those, and I assume this game here is probably the same.
Rest of the games seem ok, nothing crazy. I'll have to look at a few to know more.
Re: Talking Point: As PS5 Turns 3, How Are You Feeling About It?
@DonkeyFantasy Agreed. I wish they'd kill off the PS4 already, but supposedly Sony plans to launch games for it all the way up through 2025.
By 2025 the PS5 will be closing in on 5 years old and we'll probably be hearing EARLY PS6 rumors at that point. Yet the PS4 will still be getting new games.
Re: Insomniac Confirms Primary Marvel's Spider-Man Moving Forward
Could see it being a DMC type of deal... Miles takes point for the first half of the story, then because of story reasons, Peter has to get called back into action and joins late either 1/3 of the way or 1/2 of the way and you switch temporarily, before being able to use both of them freely again.
Like many fans, Peter Parker is my og, my childhood, etc. so I always like playing as him. But I love Miles too, so this is not a dealbreaker if they really get rid of Peter.
Re: Huge PS5 Update Makes Immortals of Aveum Better Than Ever
I think this game looks interesting, but definitely waiting for another price drop.
Re: PS Plus Essential Games for November 2023 Announced
On the one hand, these feel worse (just my personal opinion) than the predictions I was seeing: Midnight Suns, Plague Tale Requiem, Forspoken, etc. On the other hand, I don't have any of these, so maybe it'll be worth a look.
Re: Poll: Do You Like Metal Gear Solid Delta's New Graphical Style?
Re: Poll: Spider-Man 2 PS5 Bugs are Apparently a Real Problem, But Have You Had Any?
I've had one crash and one visual bug, roughly 16-18 hours in. The visual bug was an invisible building with all the interior objects still visible.
