Re: Former God of War Dev Says Major Studios Should Make Smaller Games to Complement the Big Ones

Veritas7Ax

I think this is why the amount of indie games I play has spiked a lot in recent years. Just more fun filler stuff to play while waiting for the big AAA dogs when they have 3-5 dev times.

I love the Spider-Man games from Insomniac, but it was crazy knowing that when Spider-Man 2 came out two years ago, that I would be five years older when the next one comes out (presumably). As a gamer who is already in their mid 30's, this is painful lol.

So yeah, I'm all for more indies by the bigger devs (smaller teams), or just smaller standalones like Miles, Uncharted Lost Legacy, etc.

Re: PS Store Quietly Adds Crucial New Feature for PS5, PS4 Deals

Veritas7Ax

Nifty idea and definitely something that may help the frugal gamer. And yes, as the article mentioned, sites like Deku Deals do the same but often better. DD will tell you all-time lowest prices, digital vs physical, and overall price history. It’s also more reliable than the PSN app for notifications.

Re: PS Plus Extra, Premium Games for October 2025 on PS5, PS4 Leaked

Veritas7Ax

I need to stop buying games lol. Almost every month at least one of the games is one I had bought in the last 6+ months. This time, V Rising. Oh well.

On the flip side, I keep seeing Neva on sale and I just keep saying to myself, "I just have this FEELING it's gonna be on PS+ eventually. Hold off." We'll see if I'm right.

Hope Tekken 3 has trophies!

Re: There's a New Dissidia Final Fantasy Game, But Here's the Catch

Veritas7Ax

Just make Dissidia FF Warriors, please. I’m begging you Square-Enix 😭. I would love a Dynasty Warriors style game with all my favorite FF characters, with some cool, unique FF type of twists on their usual formula.

Musou attacks will be varying levels of Limit Breaks. Unite some really amazing legends across the whole FF universe, even have tag characters like the Warriors games tend to do. C’mon Squeenix, I’m giving you gold here!

In all seriousness, I played two previous mobile FF gachas and I’m kinda glad I’m out. Guess we’ll see how this one looks.

Re: PS6 Release Date Touted for 2027, Cheaper But Less Powerful Than Next Xbox

Veritas7Ax

@PuppetMaster

Time is so weird, isn’t it? PS5 still feels like a “baby” to me but it’s been almost five years. Really hasn’t felt like it at all.

I do wish there had been more 1st party titles that truly utilized the best features the PS5 has, but AAA dev times are insane now. Every time I play a game that does something fun with the haptics, I’m like “aww man, I wish there were more games tapping into this.”

Oh well. I’m curious what the future will hold here.

Re: PS6 Out 'in a Few Years' as Sony, AMD Discuss the Future of Games

Veritas7Ax

@GloriosaDaisy

You're correct, but I would argue you can evaluate a product/service/etc. at almost any point in its life. And I think it's a pretty natural talking point on every article about the PS6. Yeah, we're still a few years away, but saying "this is how I view the PS5's life and what it has brought to the table for my gaming experience" is not a weird thing to say, IMO.

Re: PS6 Out 'in a Few Years' as Sony, AMD Discuss the Future of Games

Veritas7Ax

@themightyant

I appreciate your nuanced response, and I likewise respect your personal evaluation of things. I actually think we agree on a few things (like stripping away console exclusivity so people can play more games), we just have slightly different views. I do want to politely state that I am definitely not unhappy with the current state of things, so if I gave some impression that I am "miserable" with the PS5, then I really don't know how that would have come across. I'd call it the difference between giving the PS5 a "gold" and the PS4 a "platinum". But again, it's obviously 100% fine if we see differently on that evaluation.

Because yes, for better or worse, part of my evaluation on the PS5 and its legacy means how many games truly utilized its hardware, features, UI, etc. I only play PS consoles. I own a switch but don't use it, and I do not PC game. So for me, how well PS exclusive games utilize the hardware is a big thing for me. Not the only thing at all, but definitely weighs differently for me than it might for others. Just as an example, I feel like the Haptics on the DualSense are criminally underused. When the PS4 was sunsetting, I evaluated it in a similar way. The list of games that really felt like they capitalized on being on that hardware seemed endless.

That said, I want to reiterate one more time, that I loved a lot of games I played this gen. I expanded into so many great indies, Astro Bot was my GOTY, and I just did so much and enjoyed so much. I just have a different way of evaluating the PS5 and its legacy, I suppose.

Re: PS6 Out 'in a Few Years' as Sony, AMD Discuss the Future of Games

Veritas7Ax

@REALAIS

You are inferring a lot of things that were not said, such as comments on the PS6. On the whole, I don't think you comprehended some of what I said really well (like the exclusive thing, not sure what you're having issue with there). I think it's in our best interest to part ways here, friend. I don't think a good discourse can happen if one party is not comprehending the other. So best of luck with that.

Re: PS6 Out 'in a Few Years' as Sony, AMD Discuss the Future of Games

Veritas7Ax

@1UP-HUSKY

Exactly, I think that's the best way I could put it too, so thanks for that. If the console had a longer list of truly exclusive games that really utilized the hardware, the "portfolio" (good word choice btw) would really stand out.

As someone else pointed out to me, this is not to say this gen as a whole hasn't had some truly incredible games. It 100% has, but in terms of games utilizing the PS5 strictly speaking, its hardware, its UI, its features, etc. the list is a little too small. The ones that have, i.e., Astro Bot, Spider-Man 2, etc., really knocked it out of the park, but we are basically saying we wanted MORE of those. That's all.

And it's worth mentioning that long dev times for AAA are a big reason for this too, among other things.

Don't get me wrong, I still love my PS5, but it just hasn't felt as remarkable as it could have.

Re: PS6 Out 'in a Few Years' as Sony, AMD Discuss the Future of Games

Veritas7Ax

@REALAIS

Is it though? I admit I'm pulling that outta nowhere other than a feeling, but I'm actually 100% objectively curious if someone were to run the numbers. Because it seems like for every Spider-Man 2, Returnal, Astro Bot, etc. dozens and dozens of games released for both PS4/PS5. I feel like in the last year or so I've seen more indies go PS5 only, but still, more often than not, they're releasing for both.

So is that < 1% a lie? I hope it is, but considering we're still getting PS4 games every week this point in 2025, it doesn't seem like it.

Re: PS6 Out 'in a Few Years' as Sony, AMD Discuss the Future of Games

Veritas7Ax

@themightyant

I mean I feel the exact same way in terms of certain games being among my favorites. I loved Ragnarok and Spider-Man 2 and several others that released in this window, but other than those two, very few of them are PS5 exclusive, which is my point. Even in your example, only a single game you listed came out on PS5 only, and that is Astro Bot. Everything else was either multi-platform or released on PS4 also.

Just a guess, but perhaps you're taking offense to me assailing the quality of games and that's really not my point at all, so perhaps you misread. I'm just speaking solely on the PS5 having very little to call solely its own, other than the few things I mentioned like great sales numbers, a much better UI, and the (painfully few) PS5 exclusive games it has. Those games ARE great, but there's so few of them, relative to how old the PS5 is now.

Re: PS6 Out 'in a Few Years' as Sony, AMD Discuss the Future of Games

Veritas7Ax

@1UP-HUSKY

Yeah, this news doesn't really make me feel great overall. Makes me reflect on the PS5's legacy and it doesn't feel like... anything. Maybe it's the recency bias but it just feels like all this gen has to speak for is some of the big exclusives, QoL features, and overall sales numbers. PS4 felt like a true hallmark coming from PS3. PS5 feels plagued by the fact that the PS4 still lingers and probably less than 1% of the PlayStation exclusive games this gen actually even came out on PS5 only. Idk.

Re: 25+ Essential PS5, PS4 Games You Must Buy in Player's Choice Sale

Veritas7Ax

This might be something only affecting US players, not sure. But the sale prices will go live sometime around 3 AM EST. Typically later that day, in the PM hours, the "store page" on the PSN store will be viewable. But with this sale and also the one previous, I noticed that even hours later, there would be no page for the new sale anywhere. It would take more than 24 hours for that to happen.

And yeah, it's happening with this one. I got pings for games I wishlisted, but when I tried to view it on the PSN store, there was no sale page anywhere. And again, for reference, the prices went live over 24 hours ago. It's weird. So literally, if a game you wanted was on sale, and you didn't have it wishlisted, you would have no way of knowing for a couple days.

Re: Sounds Like Sony May Finally Be Starting to Wind Down PS4 Support

Veritas7Ax

I think it was overall good, extending the life of the console, helping more frugal gamers still access a majority of new games for a cheaper price point, especially during the covid shortage issue years. That said, I think it’s been high past time to move on.

PS5 has had very few unique releases to its name in five years. Spider-Man 2, Deathloop, FFVII Rebirth, Stellar Blade to name a few (note I’m just naming games that are exclusive to PS5, not exclusive to PlayStation as a whole, i.e. some of these are on Xbox too). So yeah, it really didn’t have a lot to really make the console shine, and it’s a shame.

Re: It's Not Fixed Yet, But Borderlands 4 Still Wants You Hyped for Its First DLC Character

Veritas7Ax

@Slideaway1983

That's totally fine! I would say if you're ever in the mood for BL2 again and want to try something new, I can recommend this build for Krieg: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKyYd3fAToQ Short version: a Krieg build that heals itself constantly by setting itself on fire, dealing nonstop nova damage, with high melee damage.

And btw I am saying this as someone who is usually not a "follow someone's build" person. I like to make my characters how I want until I have no other choice but to tweak the builds. I had SO much fun with this Krieg build though, it was such a breath of fresh air.

And unlike most builds it doesn't require as much specific gear. A Flame of the Firehawk shield (mission reward) is best, and a good fire weapon (Hellfire is my go to, also farmable without too much work).

And again, if you decide you don't really want to, that's totally fine! Just figured I'd make a friendly recommendation of something I really loved doing in BL2. It's a reason why I love exploring different characters and setups.

Re: Preview: We Played Anime Open World Ananta, and It Could Change Everything

Veritas7Ax

@AdamNovice

Agreed. I saw the youtube channel Second Wind discuss this game and saw clips and I was like "wow those animations are 1:1 Spider-Man 2 animations. Like blatantly.

In terms of idea ripoffs, I guess animations is somewhat... low scale? But I echo your thoughts... it gives a weird taste and feels awkward. I'm not gonna say "get 'em Insomniac!" but I wouldn't be shocked if Sony/them do something.

To quote Marty from Second Wind, "If you're gonna copy someone's homework, you at least change a few of the answers."

Re: Rumour: Assassin's Creed 4 Remake Makes Big Changes, Drops Modern Day Story and Adds RPG Elements

Veritas7Ax

I can see this kind of approach being a bit decisive. On the one hand, I do like the original a ton, but I don't hold it as a monolith that can't be changed, tweaked, or improved. Other fans might not agree.

All of that said, if we consider that it is a remake in the normal sense, rebuilding the game in a way, then some of these changes make sense. On paper, I like the idea of a lot of them, so that's why I'm not dismissing this. I'd love to see what it looks like.

I think if they mess with the naval combat too much, you might really lose some folks.

Re: Preview: Dispatch's Superpower Is Its One-Two Punch of Management and Narrative Choice

Veritas7Ax

I've had this game squarely on my radar since the VGAs last year. I still haven't had a chance to try the Steam demo but I don't think I need to in order to know it's a winner for me.

That said, the fact that it's episodic AND coming out during a very busy game month (Ghost of Yotei, Katamari, Battlefield 6 and Plants vs Zombies remaster to name a few) is a cause for concern.

I might honestly wait, like someone else said, until it's all released. I dunno. Tough call, because I really like the concept. It's honestly less the busy game schedule and more the fact that I want to enjoy the whole game in one sitting (not literally, but you know what I mean), rather than start, stop, start, stop.
