The recently launched Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has come under heavy fire for its usage of AI-generated artwork, and it's causing such a stink that US congressmen are speaking out against it.
Ro Khanna, who represents California's 17th congressional district, responded to one of the many social media posts about the game, using it as an example of why generative AI needs controls in place.
The game features a number of images for player calling cards that quickly drew suspicion that they were made with AI technology.
In response, Activision delivered a statement confirming the use of AI in development.

Khanna has been advocating for regulations on AI tools for a while, and Black Ops 7 is serving as a good example for him to say his piece on the matter.
His stance isn't wholly against AI, but that it needs some form of regulating to protect workers from "excessive automation".
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 hasn't only been criticised for its usage of AI; its campaign is also being ripped apart online for a number of reasons.
