Not sure what the issue is here. The same cross gen rollout was done between the PS3 and PS4. MGS5 and tombraider were available on both systems as they both came out during a 12 month cross over period.

Makes sense as there are 100 million PS4’s in circulation, so a far larger market than what the PS5 market will be in 2021.

There will be a cut off point where new games will be ps5 only but that won’t be until late 2021.

Sony can charge what they want. I won’t be paying it.

I only play single player campaigns most of them average 10 hours gameplay and offer little replay value. You want me to pay £70 for 10 hours?

These game companies make a fortune from micro transactions, mainly aimed at naive and impressional kids. In effect it is underage gambling!

These also used subsidies and tax loopholes across various countries to offset costs and hide profits and pay their CEO’s a kings ransom!

They are not hard done by.

The trailers looked awesome and really roped me in and got me hyped, I was hoping for an epic single player game. Looks like that is not to be.

I do love that people call jk Rowling transphobic, yet to my knowledge she has never been charged with this crime. Merely deemed guilty in the court of social media (mainly twitter).

She was a hero a few years ago for revealing a main and popular character of her work was gay (dumbledore). Now she is deemed a villain for merely criticising that tampax were labelled ‘for people who menstruate’ rather than women.

Jk has written strong female characters (hermione) who are smart and independent and is most likely a feminist (given her age she probably grew up when the movement gained traction). There is nothing wrong with that.

JK is a role model and has done more to improve child literacy (due to her books being fun to read) than any other book or author in recent times.

Jk has never been actively hostile or said anything specifically discriminating about trans people.

People complain that there aren’t enough trans / gay characters or that they’re poorly written. Then moan when said character is a villain or killed off. Can’t have it both ways - or you know you could stop moaning and write your book.

Not one game interested me. Also, where was far cry 6? That’s the only Ubisoft franchise I purchase.

Cool can’t wait to play this on my PS2.

The art style of this is really off putting. This was on my buy list when the first trailer dropped. But fortnite graphics completely ruin the appeal and as such I won’t be buying this.

Shame as Greek mythology would make an excellent setting.

Hhhm not going to lie the xbox series s and x had my attention recently. However, after reviewing the Xbox game pass I realised that whilst it had 250 games available the ones that interested me I already owned.

The ones that took my fancy I.e gears of war, possibly halo and sunset overdrive were not worth the outlay costs. No console exclusives to rival god of war 2, Spider-Man 2, days gone 2.

PS5 it is.

Scummy practice. The fact they left this out the review copies / period shows that they knew this would create backlash.

The real question is, how long before other publishers / developers attempt this?

What the hell happened to the art style? I was intrigued and interested in this title and was waiting on a new trailer and an update but this now just looks naff.

Also the name change is pretty dumb.

The video mainly focuses upon the micro transactions which are horrendous in this game and the one area where EA but in the effort!

So this is what has become of the studio that developed the tomb raider reboot trilogy. Crying shame that rather than have a fourth entry (the 3rd was ok) we get this stereotypical monetised cash grab.

This game should have been a solid single player like the batman games, Spider-Man games etc instead it looks like a online mmo with all the micro transactions you can think of.

Hhhm they say costs for developing have spiralled. Yet the market is far larger than ever before. 100 million ps4’s And 20 million Xbox one’s gives a potential market of 120 million customers.

This is before we take into account dlc, season pass and micro transactions.

every single major developer and publisher have seen their profits increase year on year.

But yeah sure increase the game by a tenner.

So are they as hard done by as they pretend?

MGS5 has amazing gameplay - 2nd to none. It still shames most games 7 years later. It’s just a shame the storyline was incomplete and had perhaps too many plots for its good (skullface, metal gear and the language viruses).

Trying to tie up every metal gear plot line ever, probably didn’t help!

I did read that it was originally going to be released episodic like hitman 2016, hence why ground zeroes was released separately, though it now appears this was Konami trying to recover cash. Hence why each chapter is introduced like a movie, though this is likely to prevent Kojima s name being erased as it was on the box art.

The only game on the PS4 I have bought on release date at full price is the last of us part 2.

All my other purchases have been 2nd hand a year after release where they have dropped to <£30. The playstation store is more expensive than the equivalent physical copy. Which is a joke when there’s no manufacturing costs.

If Sony / publishers want to charge £70 (including microtransactions!) then its time to see what Xbox offer.

The trailers were misleading to hide the plot and the twists so the gamer / player would be surprised. It’s an old trick, film trailers do it all the time. Jeez some people would struggle with MGS2 as the trailers for that hid raiden!

Naught dog has crunch, so does every major studio building up to release day. If people won’t buy games from studios that crunch you won’t have many games to play! Sucks but that’s the nature of the industry.

Sony DMCA’d that’s to be expected. They spent 7 years and 100 million developing the game and someone leaked their hard work a month before release date. If you were a business and your product got leaked you’d sit back and go “yeah that’s fine?”

@RazielReaper. Good use of facts, seeing all the YouTube ‘content creators’ slate this game to get hits is so obvious. Yet they completely omit that films, dvds, albums etc drop sharply after their release. They’re desperate to prove that this game has failed.

Wouldn’t have minded a few more skills to learn like your character learning to whistle to lure, distract or misdirect enemies.

When you take a hostage having options like MGS I.i get info, lure enemies.

More situations to set the infected against the various factions.

I bought this game specifically to counter act all the haters from the leaks. I never pay full price or buy a game day one but the hatred the game got (ironic as it’s of the main themes) prior to release made me buy it to support Naughty Dog.

I enjoyed playing it and it kept my attention - unusual with a 25+ hour game.

I would change a couple of things if I was the director (I’m not, so I have to accept their vision rather than demand a rewrite! Which the haters wouldn’t buy anyway if it was re-written!).

I would change the 12 hours Ellie then 12 hours Abby. I would have them mixed so day 1 Ellie, Day 1 Abby etc. Perhaps start the game with Abby and her dad in the woods.

Going by the trailers I knew Joel was dead but thought he might be a ghost / vision haunting Ellie throughout the game begging her to turn back and not avenge him and live her life to the fullest.

I would make Abby look more realistic and similar to her look at the beach. She would look identical to Ellie highlighting they are both sides of the same coin. Her muscular arms were ridiculous and made Arnie look small!

Trim a bit of fat / story. It could have ended at the farm and that would be an acceptable ending.

Walking Ellie to the beach and realising that she has lost and sacrificed everything for revenge was a real eye opener.

Seeing the carnage Ellie has wrought from Abby’s perspective was a great artistic device. You start as Abby knowing you spent the last 12 hours killing all her friends in violent and viscous ways so these characters are ghosts.

The final fight reminded me of the final boss fight in MGS4. Two old, tired battered fighters having one last battle.

Every time Joel was on screen made me feel sad and remorseful which is great storytelling and acting by Naughty Dog.

The moral of this game is simply that life in an apocalypse is awful! There is no good or evil only grey. The cycle of revenge must be broken. And even at the end of the world humankind will revert to its base and violent instincts. I.e forming groups/ cults / militias to wage war for land that it doesn’t need, the hate of the other etc.

All the haters saying the storylines a trope or a basic revenge story that’s been done before and better. Yeah ok, when was the last time a lesbian and her pregnant Jewish lover and her Asian ex boyfriend travelled across Seattle to avenge the death of the guy who doomed humanity?

Gameplay and graphic are superb as to be expected.
A good but depressing game. On par with the first game 9 out of 10.
