Angry birds (remember that) made billions so did flappy bird. It costs very little to develop an app but you could make a billion. It costs £100+ Million to develop a AAA game and dev time is in measured in years.

Sony have the branding, rights and consumer awareness of these games they’d be daft not to go down this route, the real question is what took them so long? iPhones have existed since 2007.

Hhhmmm tough one. By the time this gets released (assuming a 4 year dev cycle) then it would have been 12/13+ years since the original released. So a decent amount of time has passed, however TLOU1 still stands up today compared to modern games. TLOU2 didn’t reinvent the gameplay.

Sony aren’t being adventurous with creating or supporting high cost new IP’s but then if consumers only purchase remakes and remasters then they’re playing it safe and guaranteeing sales.

With all the IP’s that Xbox just bought and all the potential sequels is Sony being safe or scared?

Won’t happen. The single player campaign Will just be a 5 hour tutorial for the online arena.

Suspect Korea is out on bounds as doesn’t tencent (a Chinese company) own a percentage of Activision. So doubt they will risk the wrath of their owners.

Can’t wait for this. I have been following this game since it’s announcement trailer and now it’s finally here. Hopefully the reviews will be good.

@Voltan there’s YouTube vids where the pro’s and speedrunners kill him in 6 seconds. Though pc keyboard makes it easier to quick switch weapons.

Play doom 2016 if you want a easier intro but to be fair eternal does a great job of introducing you to the mechanics. I play it on normal mode and have completed the first dlc which is harder than the base game.

The game has a learning curve; I hated the platforming and the marauder on my first play through but on the second I was acing all the aspects of the game. Strongly advise watching some YouTube vids.

I will be buying part 2 tomorrow to play Friday and I can’t wait.

Let’s put it like this. Doom eternal is the demo for Part 1. You get everything unlocked and upgraded to begin with but you’ll need it.

Storyline was great the rest of the game was poorly executed.

Played the first level of the first game back in the day but it never got its hooks into me whereas the most recent games have. I’m even tempted to play doom 3.

Can’t f%#£*ing wait. Love this series, I’m a recent newcomer to the series I bought doom 2016 last March and bought eternal recently love the lore, gameplay and graphics. Replayed them both twice and bought the DLC, a superb FPS is not the best.

Just have to hope MS doesn’t lock it to the Xbox...

Doom and wolfenstein. Though the doom dlc looks like it’s wrapping up the plot nicely. Wolfenstein Youngblood sucked but the previous titles were ace.

Not sure why people are expecting a sequel to prey, whilst it was a great game I’m under the impression it’s sale figures underperformed.

By any chance will they be selling an XP booster micro-transaction???

Well MS tried to double the cost of game pass recently, the internet declared war and MS backed down. So MS definitely are seeking to make more money from gamepass.

I suspect doom, wolfenstein, fallout etc will be locked to the MS console and if they are continue losing money then they might send some titles Sony’s way.

MS hasn’t been able to comment on their plans until the deal is signed and done. Hence we find out in March what their actual plans are....

I guess Konami ‘kept you waiting huh?’

Geek moment: the la le lol thing isn’t supposed to be in the game. It’s supposed be static / censored / gibberish every time someone mentions the patriots. but for some reason when the game was released in foreign markets they didn’t get the memo...

@GamingVeteran - Sony wont ever get rid of micro transactions. let alone force studios to remove them, as can be seen by the main article they make Sony a huge amount of revenue (for doing absolutely nothing on Sony’s part).

They put the dates in the trailer to ensure people had a reason to buy a ps5. If the ps5 released in late 2020 but there were no games scheduled for release until 2022 no-one would have bought the console.

Also covid has no doubt impacted the dates.

I remember that when this game came out and people complained about the plot, the twists, the crunch, the trans character, they said that cyberpunk 2077 would show Naughty Dog how’s it’s done.

How’d that work out?

Well that means CDPR have made £650 million from a sub par broken game. My PS4 copy is under the tree - so I’m practicing my surprised x mas face!

@QuizKid agree with everything you’ve said. I’ve been watching videos comparing cyberpunk’s AI, NPC’s, Psychics to 5+ year old games (GTA V, Farcry 5 etc) and those games do it so much better. How/ why did CDPR not implement basic gameplay features?!

@Whyita the simple answer is that there are approx 100 million PS4’s and not that many PS5s. If you’re going to sell a game, recoup costs and make a profit the console with the most units sold / available is the only option.

Sadly this game’s ambition outstripped the PS4s and Xbox capabilities and CDPR knew this but went ahead any way.

I love that gender selection, side missions and dialogue options are seen as ‘new’ in COD. Pretty much standard in most games!

I’m only ever interested in the single player campaign, which by the looks of it is shorter than usual (possibly due to the impact of covid) so I’ll pick this up when it’s bargain bin price.

I play the cod single player campaigns in a once and done style. The campaigns generally tend to be short but 5 hours is really short and a shame; as the 1980s Cold War setting looks awesome and really appeals to me. I’ll wait until it drops down to £20 as that’s my price limit for a 5 hour campaign.

This game was on my buy list. Never played the PS3 version but the OG graphics looked cool. So the remaster took my interest. Not at £45 though!

So far the reviews seem negative, though is this mainly due to removing the cel shaded art style? You’d think they’d give you options to play the game in cel shaded or the modernised look they’ve gone for.

Are pushsquare intending on reviewing this?

Edit: Just watched gmanlives review on YouTube. Yeah this remake is terrible. Bugs, glitches removal of the comic book aspects (frames / panels) this game isn’t worth £45 or worth playing by the looks of it. A real Shame.

Hhhmmm price is getting tempting I.e it’s the price it should have released at. However, my personal rule if the hours of play are <10 it’s a £25 price tag.

Also, might wait for physical, as when I finish I can sell it on for x amount, whereas digital I get nothing!

Just finished the game bit of a boring chore to be honest. Surprised I didn’t read the pushsquare review when making my purchase decision as their scores normally match my own.

The game was repetitive, the tasks basic and the storyline was not engaging in any form. Oh and the difficulty spike of the last three bosses, absolutely ridiculous! Took me an entire afternoon!

Yes it’s a ps2 game from 2005 but MGS3 was from this era and it’s a masterpiece and still plays well today. Destroy all humans does not.

I’m a one and done single player campaign kind of guy.

Shame it’s £50 as I did read it’s only 7 hours long.
With a campaign that short i’ll Wait until 1/2 price.

£50 quid for miles morales. Is this as long as marvels spiderman? As that’s a lot of cash for a glorified DLC!

5/10 shame as I was looking forward to this having missed the Crysis hype back in the day.

Surprises me that they used the PS3 version rather than PC but also skipped the expansion pack. YouTube reviews have also pointed out that certain features haven’t been ported and that individuals have created better mods than this ‘remaster’.

@CuzzoWuzzo - pay attention to what a couple of trailers? Not that they hinted at an online element. A couple of dev features on YouTube? This game’s been silent for a while.

My main concern with online games is that they become the Anthem, Fallout 76 and the Avengers. You know. The games that suck.

Not sure what the issue is here. The same cross gen rollout was done between the PS3 and PS4. MGS5 and tombraider were available on both systems as they both came out during a 12 month cross over period.

Makes sense as there are 100 million PS4’s in circulation, so a far larger market than what the PS5 market will be in 2021.

There will be a cut off point where new games will be ps5 only but that won’t be until late 2021.

Sony can charge what they want. I won’t be paying it.

I only play single player campaigns most of them average 10 hours gameplay and offer little replay value. You want me to pay £70 for 10 hours?

These game companies make a fortune from micro transactions, mainly aimed at naive and impressional kids. In effect it is underage gambling!

These also used subsidies and tax loopholes across various countries to offset costs and hide profits and pay their CEO’s a kings ransom!

They are not hard done by.

The trailers looked awesome and really roped me in and got me hyped, I was hoping for an epic single player game. Looks like that is not to be.

I do love that people call jk Rowling transphobic, yet to my knowledge she has never been charged with this crime. Merely deemed guilty in the court of social media (mainly twitter).

She was a hero a few years ago for revealing a main and popular character of her work was gay (dumbledore). Now she is deemed a villain for merely criticising that tampax were labelled ‘for people who menstruate’ rather than women.

Jk has written strong female characters (hermione) who are smart and independent and is most likely a feminist (given her age she probably grew up when the movement gained traction). There is nothing wrong with that.

JK is a role model and has done more to improve child literacy (due to her books being fun to read) than any other book or author in recent times.

Jk has never been actively hostile or said anything specifically discriminating about trans people.

People complain that there aren’t enough trans / gay characters or that they’re poorly written. Then moan when said character is a villain or killed off. Can’t have it both ways - or you know you could stop moaning and write your book.

Not one game interested me. Also, where was far cry 6? That’s the only Ubisoft franchise I purchase.

Cool can’t wait to play this on my PS2.

The art style of this is really off putting. This was on my buy list when the first trailer dropped. But fortnite graphics completely ruin the appeal and as such I won’t be buying this.

Shame as Greek mythology would make an excellent setting.

Hhhm not going to lie the xbox series s and x had my attention recently. However, after reviewing the Xbox game pass I realised that whilst it had 250 games available the ones that interested me I already owned.

The ones that took my fancy I.e gears of war, possibly halo and sunset overdrive were not worth the outlay costs. No console exclusives to rival god of war 2, Spider-Man 2, days gone 2.

PS5 it is.

Scummy practice. The fact they left this out the review copies / period shows that they knew this would create backlash.

The real question is, how long before other publishers / developers attempt this?

What the hell happened to the art style? I was intrigued and interested in this title and was waiting on a new trailer and an update but this now just looks naff.

Also the name change is pretty dumb.

He shows how lazy EA have been rehashing the same animations year on year.

The video mainly focuses upon the micro transactions which are horrendous in this game and the one area where EA but in the effort!
