I'll definitely be picking this up due to being a Bond fan, i love the Hitman games and this is released just after my Birthday.
The driving sections didn't look great was my main gripe and the Aston Martin didn't sound like a car, let alone an Aston being revved to high heaven. However we only saw snippets so hopefully in the actual game that section is more 'wow'.
If it was MW2019 and rated 18 with a great director then I’d be all in. However, I suspect that won’t happen at all.
Seems like Hollywood are a bit late to the party as surely COD peaked over a decade ago and audiences might of been more receptive to a gun ho pro American film.
Just playing through the chronological storyline alongside the ps5 upgrade. Last time I played the game was on release over 5 years ago! Quite liked it and a strong defender of the game / plot during the internet flame wars.
However playing this chronologically the first 2 hours+ are literally a walking simulator and very tedious if it wasn’t for Naughty Dogs writing. The game mechanics as mentioned in the article are out of sync e.g. not being told how to use the flashlight.
This looks amazing like cyberpunk and bioshock had an illegitimate love child. Definitely need to go and play the first one, even though push square gave it a 6…
Odd one, i was looking forward to this game after playing the first one (during a sale) resulting in a game which i thought was quite unique and interesting in its own way. I was quite miffed when the studio was bought by XBOX and became an exclusive and therefore i would be unable to play it. However, having read the comments here and on previous articles regarding the game it appears that i haven't and won't be missing much if i skip this, shame as i mentioned in my opening sentence this game was quite interesting, shame that doesn't seem to have been expanded upon by the developers, in fact the reverse seems to have occurred.
Well i'm loving the game, price didnt bother me as i went all in on the Collectors Edition and thought it was pretty good value for the price. I can see Gamepass might have cannabilised the sales but thats on XBOX / MS and their subscription strategy and whether long term that strategy remains cost effective. I think id Software got the balance right a bit of 2016 and a bit of Eternal.
Long term i suspect MS will remove themselves from the console market and solely rely on becoming a publisher and subscription company, mainly due to their massive expenditure in buying Bethesda and Activitision and over reaching themselves financially, hence why XBOX eclusives are now on the PS5 to offset that potential loss. Gamepass will be on the PS5 at some point, mark my words.
I’m ten levels in, loving it so far. Started on a harder mode than I normally do. Played around with a few settings as well to tailor it to my style, which I found unique to this game. Liked 2016 Doom, loved Eternal. This game is the best of both worlds.
Bought the Collectors edition - which got held up in customs alongside a £71 non disclosed import tax, which was duly refunded resulting in the package arriving a day later than promised so no early access for me!
On level 5, so far so good i'm enjoying it, you can alter the various settings so you can get a mix of Doom 2016 and Eternal style game play. Enemies can be cranked up to be more aggressive or not and i'm loving the story so far. Graphic wise i think it looks amazing.
Just completed the game as of last night. Overall a pretty good game. Visually it is stunning and the nostalgia hits you right in the feels. The plot is pretty good to be honest and certainly feels good enough to act as a Indiana Jones film, certainly better than the 4th and 5th films.
However, the gameplay is a tad basic and is very much a stealth game, due to indiana facing more than 2 people hes dead.
Some of the design choices of the levels are poor i.e. finding the underwater entrance guarded by the snake, escaping the chamber that fills with sand. The camera unlocks hints to puzzles but puts the answer in the journal without informing you. I often found myself selecting the camera when i wanted the first aid kit and vise versa. Not sure why indiana has a satchel as i put very few things in it. All needed a bit of tweaking to make the gameplay better.
The combat, as mentioned, is basic and is effectively a boxing simulator and i was tiring of the repetition just before the game ended. I get that Indiana jones isnt Rambo but the game had several weapons and they were more useful as baseball bats! Yes there are manuals to improve Indiana but he doesn't really learn any new skills (see far cry as a better example). The guns cant be carried permanently and if Indiana moves up or down stairs or across an area the game makes Indiana drop the shotgun / rifle so its left behind and your back to using your revolver or fists.
The final fight was a bit lacklustre especially when we consider the campaign has been building up to this moment it ends in a boxing match, followed by a one armed boxing match.
However, it is still a game i'd strongly recommend purchasing or playing. If there is a sequel i hope the developers (Machine games) build on what is effectively a very strong foundation.
Well theres a blast from the past, remember playing this on a neighbours PC back in the early 90s. Wouldn't mind a modernised 3D version if thats the intention, not sure i can revisit 2D games.
As a 40 year old gamer Sackboy’s PS4 / PS5 platformer is up there as one of the best released. due to reading pushsquare article regarding the serves switching off for his PS3 little big planet I bought and played solely for the amazing campaign, this still holds exceptionally well today against any competitors.
Sony dropped the ball to turn him into a mascot, similar as Crash Bandicoot could have been for the various generations of playstation. Guess Astrobot is expected to fulfil this role going forward.
Oh and who the ***** camps with the lights on in their tent and discusses kissing techniques when there’s a zombie apocalypse going on around them and the zombies react to noise!
Hmm not a great episode.i wasn’t feeling the psychological rage that Ellie displayed in the game at the death of Joel and her regret at not setting things right before he died. No offence to the actor as this is a script and director decision but Ellie’s fury and hatred should be able to be felt through the tv screen.
@Bagwag82 Exactly what I was thinking. Could easily have modelled the games combat on god of war. Could have had her face off against Greek deities as well. Wonder Woman has a shield a sword and a lasso, straightforward combat.
Just looks like some Sony execs looked at GaaS games such as fortnite, then looked at their successful IPs and decided to smush the two concepts together. Then selected random studios, with no experience of GaaS to develop them!
Sony must have wasted a fortune, there’s what 12 projects cancelled, let’s say average development of 100 million, so the better part of a billion wasted.
If they’ve got any sense they’ll try and salvage the assets, surely twisted metal can be repurposed into a single player game?
Got to give Ubi props for actually trying to change up a formula they havent tampered with since Far Cry 3. Though i'm more drawn to the posters idea of surviving a plane crash and having a time limit rather than rescuing family from a cult, that seems a bit close to the storyline of FarCry 5.
As long as its nothing like FarCry 6 i'll be happy.
Erm the lass from the recent Alien Romulus film looks identical to the character from Naughty Dog, so not sure why people are getting funny about the looks.
@nessisonett exactly this. Their tactic was buy, buy, buy then ride the wave and sell themselves for 2 billion to a Saudi investment group. There was no long term strategy of actually developing games.
I am tempted, after having tried the demo back in 96 and did not get past the first level, as the switch i needed to pull, i couldn't find as it was the same colour as the wall!
So never engaged with the OG games at all, until the PS4 revival trilogy, which i loved.
Just playing this now after having just completed the campaign for a 2nd time.
Getting kind of bored of the premise after having fought tyr for the 3rd time and reset back to the beach / beginning. Possibly due to having played the campaigned again just prior so 30 hours of GOW straight.
I suspect Disney would have negotiated a similar contract to the Square Enix, Avengers. Disney's getting paid whether its successful financially or not.
Absolutely love this series. I'm 7 episodes into my 10 episode binge. The show is pretty damn good to be honest. Humour is spot on, acting and special effects are decent. The counter argument to this is that Kojima suspected he was on his way out and slapped his name at the front and end credits of the early missions (which then come across as episodic)
MGS5 Phantom Pain was originally going to revisit the prison island seen in Ground Zero - but was scrapped.
The game was supposed to have a third chapter set on the island with the lost children, again scrapped due to cost. This is known as mission 51.
The soundtrack was scrapped and re-done at a huge cost.
Literally finished this Saturday afternoon. The game is an interesting one to review. Graphically it is stunning but graphics dont make a game.
I thought the storyline and characters were ok - i like the Resident Evil games so survival horror is a good genre but it is an 18 rated game (?) and a new IP so expecting this to achieve Resident evil numbers (which they dont always hit) was a big ask.
The combat is the most frustrating thing about this game! And is a major factor of a game and my god it frustrated me to the point of insanity!
Eventually i settled on a stealth / reduce the numbers of enemies using the environment and the glove or even throwing them out of the area to complete certain sections.
The designers should have focused on either guns or melee! I upgraded the baton and a few of the guns, felt as though it made zero difference!
The bosses were repetitive and had no link to the protagonist, until we got to the final boss! Shouldn't we have had the head guard follow us and mutate throughout the game Ala nemesis in Resident Evil 3?

Unlike typical streaming shows, something fun and interesting actually happens and moves the plot on! The 30 minute run time seems to have helped tighten things up as well.

My only query is why this isnt linked to a new Twisted Metal Game? Sony missed a trick but i suspect they just wanted to farm out an old IP for a quick easy buck!

Hmmm not normally a fan of Xcom style games - though i love the Alien universe so might give this a try, depending on reviews.
Played the PS2 version of this back in the day - similar set up.

My game of the year 2022 is…MGS1
Came out in the 90s but hey ho guess that’s the rules now.
Also cyberpunk, even the ps5 version, is an average game. Missing features you’d find in far cry 3 and GTA San Andreas.
Re: Atomic Heart Confirmed for February 2023 Release on PS5, PS4
Dead Space
Dead Island 2
Atomic Heart
Resident Evil 4
Are the 4 out of that list that I'll be purchasing depending on the review scores. So thats £280 easily gone!
