Re: TV Show Review: Twisted Metal - Car Crash Entertainment

Thelegend159

Absolutely love this series. I'm 7 episodes into my 10 episode binge. The show is pretty damn good to be honest. Humour is spot on, acting and special effects are decent. Unlike typical streaming shows, something fun and interesting actually happens and moves the plot on! The 30 minute run time seems to have helped tighten things up as well.

Some of the characters / vehicles from the original games are there but have been revised to meet the reality of an alternative 1990s.

My only query is why this isnt linked to a new Twisted Metal Game? Sony missed a trick but i suspect they just wanted to farm out an old IP for a quick easy buck!

Re: Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes Was an Experiment Fans 'Didn't Understand'

I'm a huge fan of the MGS series though i will admit it does have its flaws (MGS2 and MGS4 bonkers storyline!).

However, MGS5 is surrounded in controversy and rumour.

It was originally going to be episodic - similar to how HITMAN 2016 released. Although the counter argument to this is that Konami had enough of the cost of MGS5 and Ground Zero was released to claw back some of the investment.

The counter argument to this is that Kojima suspected he was on his way out and slapped his name at the front and end credits of the early missions (which then come across as episodic)

MGS5 Phantom Pain was originally going to revisit the prison island seen in Ground Zero - but was scrapped.

The game was supposed to have a third chapter set on the island with the lost children, again scrapped due to cost. This is known as mission 51.

The soundtrack was scrapped and re-done at a huge cost.

Literally finished this Saturday afternoon. The game is an interesting one to review. Graphically it is stunning but graphics dont make a game.

I thought the storyline and characters were ok - i like the Resident Evil games so survival horror is a good genre but it is an 18 rated game (?) and a new IP so expecting this to achieve Resident evil numbers (which they dont always hit) was a big ask.

The combat is the most frustrating thing about this game! And is a major factor of a game and my god it frustrated me to the point of insanity!

Eventually i settled on a stealth / reduce the numbers of enemies using the environment and the glove or even throwing them out of the area to complete certain sections.

The designers should have focused on either guns or melee! I upgraded the baton and a few of the guns, felt as though it made zero difference!

The bosses were repetitive and had no link to the protagonist, until we got to the final boss! Shouldn't we have had the head guard follow us and mutate throughout the game Ala nemesis in Resident Evil 3?

This games seems half way between a remake and remaster. Not fully one nor the other. If you've never played the game it will be worth it, if you're a major fan it will be worth it.

A part of me suspects its been remade to tie with the upcoming TV show and that Part 1 and Part 2 are in the process of being ported to PC in the near future and Part 1 needed a refresh prior to being ported.

hmm colour me interested. i'll be willing to give this a try. Never played the original, was looking forward to the remake. Saw the reviews and never purchased it. Might be worth a stab if the remake of the remake is worthwhile.

I assume this will be re-reviewed by pushsquare when it hits the PS5?

Re: Rumour: Cyberpunk 2077 Leak Confirms First Expansion's Setting, Characters, and More

Had this bought for me as an xmas gift 15 months ago. Was hyped waiting for it, read up on the lore etc. Saw the reviews and the YouTube vids showing how bad this game was rushed and the lack of features. CDPR mugged their fans off.

Waited until patch 1.3 to play it on my PS4, when it was a tad more stable - allegedly. Put in about 40 hours dealt with various bugs and crashes - could only recommend the excellent cyberpunk sci fi storyline.

Purchased a PS5 and waited for patch 1.5 and spent the last 2 weeks playing it. This time do the opposite choices and actions to my first play through. Even with the updates the game lacks basic features that could be found in Farcry 3 and GTA 3.

Again the storyline, the city and Johnny Silverhand make the game.

A DLC shouldn’t have V or silverhand as in game (spoilers) their dead or deleted, though as one of the other posters noted. V and Silverhands interactions make the game, so not sure how the DLC will fare missing those 2 characters.

Re: PlayStation Predicts PC Revenue to More Than Triple This Fiscal Year

Thelegend159

I'm undecided if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Yes opening up old games on PC brings in more money for Sony, doesn't automatically translate into more and better games for us. Kind of defeats the object of 'exclusivity' if its just a year.

I suspect long term Sony and MS both want to move away from developing consoles - which is the most costliest bit of the business and takes years to recoup - and become Netflix style apps on various devices with significantly lower running costs.

At this rate i'd be better off buying a PC for the next gen and getting access to Sony games via the app, MS Xbox games via gamepass and just using a console controller.
