Absolutely love this series. I'm 7 episodes into my 10 episode binge. The show is pretty damn good to be honest. Humour is spot on, acting and special effects are decent. Unlike typical streaming shows, something fun and interesting actually happens and moves the plot on! The 30 minute run time seems to have helped tighten things up as well.
Some of the characters / vehicles from the original games are there but have been revised to meet the reality of an alternative 1990s.
My only query is why this isnt linked to a new Twisted Metal Game? Sony missed a trick but i suspect they just wanted to farm out an old IP for a quick easy buck!

I'm a huge fan of the MGS series though i will admit it does have its flaws (MGS2 and MGS4 bonkers storyline!).
However, MGS5 is surrounded in controversy and rumour.
It was originally going to be episodic - similar to how HITMAN 2016 released. Although the counter argument to this is that Konami had enough of the cost of MGS5 and Ground Zero was released to claw back some of the investment.
The counter argument to this is that Kojima suspected he was on his way out and slapped his name at the front and end credits of the early missions (which then come across as episodic)
MGS5 Phantom Pain was originally going to revisit the prison island seen in Ground Zero - but was scrapped.
The game was supposed to have a third chapter set on the island with the lost children, again scrapped due to cost. This is known as mission 51.
The soundtrack was scrapped and re-done at a huge cost.
Literally finished this Saturday afternoon. The game is an interesting one to review. Graphically it is stunning but graphics dont make a game.
I thought the storyline and characters were ok - i like the Resident Evil games so survival horror is a good genre but it is an 18 rated game (?) and a new IP so expecting this to achieve Resident evil numbers (which they dont always hit) was a big ask.
The combat is the most frustrating thing about this game! And is a major factor of a game and my god it frustrated me to the point of insanity!
Eventually i settled on a stealth / reduce the numbers of enemies using the environment and the glove or even throwing them out of the area to complete certain sections.
The designers should have focused on either guns or melee! I upgraded the baton and a few of the guns, felt as though it made zero difference!
The bosses were repetitive and had no link to the protagonist, until we got to the final boss! Shouldn't we have had the head guard follow us and mutate throughout the game Ala nemesis in Resident Evil 3?
Always liked the idea of weapon degradation or your guns jamming. Made it more realistic. Though it always tends to happen to me when im mid fight and the gun jams or breaks!
@Danloaded is that the case? Damn, i was hoping to get a cheap PS4 copy and upgrade to the PS5 edition for free. At least then the game might have been worth the purchase.
As it is its £35 on the PS store for the PS5 version.
That is a rhetorical question. If you like FPS and killing nazis, then boy is this the game franchise for you. Ignore Youngblood…we don’t talk about Youngblood.
I was quite interested in this game when it was known as god and monsters, then when they showed off the new art style alongside with the name change I lost interest. Though it’s currently on eBay new for £8 so I’ll inevitably pick it up.
This games seems half way between a remake and remaster. Not fully one nor the other. If you've never played the game it will be worth it, if you're a major fan it will be worth it.
A part of me suspects its been remade to tie with the upcoming TV show and that Part 1 and Part 2 are in the process of being ported to PC in the near future and Part 1 needed a refresh prior to being ported.
Hmm have never bought a collectors / special edition in all my time of gaming. However, god of war 2018 was so fantastic and got me hooked on Norse mythology, that I am very tempted to go all in.
hmm colour me interested. i'll be willing to give this a try. Never played the original, was looking forward to the remake. Saw the reviews and never purchased it. Might be worth a stab if the remake of the remake is worthwhile.
I assume this will be re-reviewed by pushsquare when it hits the PS5?
I’m in! Looks good in the trailer, though I’ll wait for more gameplay footage and actual reviews before committing as the Alien franchise can be hit and miss. Both game and film wise.
We might be waiting a while (2 years) as I suspect Montreal are probably remaking the entire game at this point. Looks like the Indian studio completely dropped the ball and it’s been handed other to another internal studio to rectify.
Shame as I was looking forward to this having never played them originally.
Had this bought for me as an xmas gift 15 months ago. Was hyped waiting for it, read up on the lore etc. Saw the reviews and the YouTube vids showing how bad this game was rushed and the lack of features. CDPR mugged their fans off.
Waited until patch 1.3 to play it on my PS4, when it was a tad more stable - allegedly. Put in about 40 hours dealt with various bugs and crashes - could only recommend the excellent cyberpunk sci fi storyline.
Purchased a PS5 and waited for patch 1.5 and spent the last 2 weeks playing it. This time do the opposite choices and actions to my first play through. Even with the updates the game lacks basic features that could be found in Farcry 3 and GTA 3.
Again the storyline, the city and Johnny Silverhand make the game.
A DLC shouldn’t have V or silverhand as in game (spoilers) their dead or deleted, though as one of the other posters noted. V and Silverhands interactions make the game, so not sure how the DLC will fare missing those 2 characters.
Hhhm debating this as I’ve just completed cyberpunk for the 2nd time. I do like a traditional platformer I.e crash. Shame the score was low wonder if some patches might take the rough edges off.
I'm undecided if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Yes opening up old games on PC brings in more money for Sony, doesn't automatically translate into more and better games for us. Kind of defeats the object of 'exclusivity' if its just a year.
I suspect long term Sony and MS both want to move away from developing consoles - which is the most costliest bit of the business and takes years to recoup - and become Netflix style apps on various devices with significantly lower running costs.
At this rate i'd be better off buying a PC for the next gen and getting access to Sony games via the app, MS Xbox games via gamepass and just using a console controller.
After playing the recent remaster of Destroy all Humans, doubt i'll purchase another remake from this franchise as i found the game basic, even by the standards of the PS2 era.
Dont get me wrong it was a bit of harmless fun to whittle away the hours but there was no replayability.
Damn it Ubisoft...i liked Black Flag and an entire game focusing on the ship warfare gameplay, with modern controls and graphics alongside a great single player pirate focused storyline had huge appeal to me.

Less buggy than most of the games that released this year!

Re: The Lord of the Rings: Gollum Studio Clarifies 'Paywalled' Voice Acting DLC
From horse armour, to this!?!
The state of modern gaming; where you now need to pay extra to hear the background NPC's provide extra lines!
Wait until Ubisoft et al hear about this, they'll be billing you per line spoken in your games!
Re: XCOM with Xenomorphs? Aliens: Dark Descent Tiptoes to PS5, PS4 on 20th June
@trev666
Correct and the franchise rights have been sold to various other studios.
Re: XCOM with Xenomorphs? Aliens: Dark Descent Tiptoes to PS5, PS4 on 20th June
Hmmm not normally a fan of Xcom style games - though i love the Alien universe so might give this a try, depending on reviews.
Played the PS2 version of this back in the day - similar set up.

Re: Game of the Year: Robert's Top 5 PS5, PS4 Games of 2022
My game of the year 2022 is…MGS1
Came out in the 90s but hey ho guess that’s the rules now.
Also cyberpunk, even the ps5 version, is an average game. Missing features you’d find in far cry 3 and GTA San Andreas.
Re: Atomic Heart Confirmed for February 2023 Release on PS5, PS4
Dead Space
Dead Island 2
Atomic Heart
Resident Evil 4
Are the 4 out of that list that I'll be purchasing depending on the review scores. So thats £280 easily gone!
Re: Resident Evil Village: Shadows of Rose (PS5) - Creative DLC Is a Short But Sweet Send-Off
£16 quid for 2.5 hrs of campaign DLC, 3rd person mode and extra characters for the mercenary mode? Hhhmmm.
Re: The Last of Us Was 'Ahead of Its Time', Sony Wanted 'Definitive Version'
MGS was ahead of its time. MGS3 was ahead of its time and still shows up modern games from a gameplay perspective.
TLOU was a good / great game but ahead of its time...what was revolutionary about it?
Re: CD Projekt Red to Test Games on All Platforms Equally Going Forward, Not Just on PC

Yep at this point I’ll start my 3rd play through at the end of 2023 when the games complete.
Re: Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.6 Adds Transmog, New Character Customisation, Out Now
It’s a shame this is being added 2 years down the line.
I’ve played this game twice. Once on the ps4 on release date when it was a broken mess and February this year when they released the 1.5 PS5 patch.
Though I love the setting and storyline and will likely dive into the DLC.
Re: Aloy Confirmed for Horizon Netflix Show, Helmed By Umbrella Academy Showrunner

Doom 2016 but set in an alternative America where the nazi s won. Easiest way to explain it.
Has robot dogs in it if that helps, close to werewolves.

Ellie was the reason you played the game. I played the game because ND deliver a kick ass game, story and characters.
Re: The Last of Us 2 Has Sold an Impressive 10 Million Copies on PS4

Part 2 sells 10m copies
Haters: Part 3 wont sell because of part 2
