Re: Red Dead Redemption 1 on Its Way to PS5, New Age Rating Suggests

TheDudeKenobi

If this were the kind of thing where they're updating the graphics and textures to bring them to the RDR2 standard, or something closer to it, then that'd be cool. If they're not doing that, then we really don't need this game to be released again. The PS4 version does the thing just fine for what it is. Considering the PS4 release had a 60fps boost on PS4 Pro/PS5, what could they really be offering to make people want an upgrade anyway?

Re: PS5 Pro Adds Frame Rate Option for Metal Gear Solid Delta

TheDudeKenobi

After playing Foxhunt with a friend, I can confirm it runs well and is good fun, but it definitely needs some more content if Konami wants it to stick around. As of right now, it's good for an hour or 2 every so often with a buddy, but it's not something I can see myself diving into alone very often, if at all. A full-on 6v6 PVP mode would be a nice add, feels a bit strange that something like that didn't come at launch.

Re: Assassin's Creed Mirage's Free, Saudi-Funded Expansion Launches in November

TheDudeKenobi

@koverby This "very public forum" is the comment section of an article concerning free DLC for a game over 2 years old, which was made as a DLC, and turned into a standalone prequel to a game that is almost 5 years old. I'm all for not posting spoilers right where everyone will see them, but people don't have to read comments if they don't want to, especially when it concerns something they don't want to know more about. I would expect that most people who have any level of interest in this DLC would have either played or beaten one or both of the games that were being discussed.

Re: Assassin's Creed Mirage's Free, Saudi-Funded Expansion Launches in November

TheDudeKenobi

@DennisReynolds Had to rewatch the ending of Mirage, you are correct. I thought the ending was a bit more ambiguous as to what's going on, with Basim being more tricked/convinced into the merger, but it's very much not that. It was confirmed this DLC takes place before the end of the game now anyway, so anything I wanted to see is in the can regardless. Would love to see Basim come back in a future game though, maybe something detailing his adventures between Mirage and Valhalla.

Re: Assassin's Creed Mirage's Free, Saudi-Funded Expansion Launches in November

TheDudeKenobi

@DennisReynolds Basim and Loki share a body, but are inherently different people up until the point Loki's memories and life start bleeding into Basim's at the end of Mirage, which we see firsthand with Eivor in Valhalla, but with a different outcome. All throughout Valhalla, Eivor is faced with choices, and Odin appears seemingly in Eivor's mind to offer guidance on what they should do. This culminates in Odin trying to take over Eivor's mind and body fully in that underground vault at the end of the game, but fails because Eivor's will is too strong (or whatever happened in that last confrontation). This was furthered by the final update they released for Valhalla, where Eivor is still in control of their own body, but Odin begins to permeate in Eivor's mind and teaches Eivor things about what occurred during his time, without Odin fully taking control. When I said "dealing with his other self," I literally meant the Basim side of the character internally at odds with what the Loki side of him would want to do, but coming to accept that that is now inherently who he is. By Valhalla, it seems Loki and Basim are the same person, but if the confrontation with Odin proved anything, it's that one of the personalities can be in control and force the other to be dormant while retaining their life experiences and memories to some degree. I want to know if Basim is a prisoner in his own body, or if he's on board with Loki's ambitions.

Re: Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero Tops 200 Characters, Teases Yet More DLC in 2026

TheDudeKenobi

They should add the stuff that's in the game already that we don't have access to. The TOP arena with no debris, SSJ Vegeta with Saiyan Saga Vegeta skin, Gohan Black variant for Goku Black and Merged Zamasu. Kami's lookout and Capsule Corp could be made into maps using the areas they already modeled for the menus too. There's so much in the game already that could be repurposed.

Re: Out Today: Skate Makes Its Big Return in Early Access on PS5, PS4, and It's Free to Play

TheDudeKenobi

When they announced they'd be making another Skate, I never would have imagined we'd be getting it in the form of an early access game that we have to watch come together over however long it'll take until they remove the early access label. Makes you miss the days when devs just made games that were feature-complete with basic QOL updates instead of whatever it is we're doing now. It's cool that it's finally in the hands of the playerbase, but it's not cool that we waited so long for what's essentially a live service beta. At least it's free!

Re: Mini Review: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants (PS5) - A Fun Yet Familiar Indy Outing

TheDudeKenobi

I was really hoping for either a continuation or just a separate mini story. Not a big fan of these DLCs that just happen during the events of the narrative, as it makes it feel like they were cut intentionally just so they could sell it later. This is especially so when areas in the Vatican City felt weirdly cut off, and now they're seemingly being reopened here, like the Vatican Gardens.

Re: Poll: What Are Your Thoughts on Metal Gear Solid 5, 10 Years Later?

TheDudeKenobi

This is genuinely the best playing Metal Gear game in the franchise; it's just a shame so much of the story about what Big Boss and Zero were getting up to in that time was relegated to tape recordings you have to listen to in the post-game, instead of fully formed cutscenes that fit nicely into the narrative at specific points. Full spoilers here, but I actually like that Venom Snake was not Big Boss. It makes it feel like by the time the reveal hits, we're playing our own character who became Big Boss just because we love the franchise so much. A lot of people felt burned that they weren't playing as the guy by the end, but that's the point, you are Big Boss by the end, or something so close to it that most people can't even tell the difference. You, the player, make that happen, and it's a cool concept for subverting what you think you're looking at the whole time, versus what's really going on. It's honestly very on brand for the MGS series. I'd say the real biggest stain on this game is the last chapter of the game being unfinished, then offered up as piecemealed cutscenes in the deluxe/collectors editions. It always bothers me that Sahelanthropus is taken by Liquid and Mantis from Motherbase, and then there's just nothing after that. It will always suck that the last Hideo Kojima MGS game had to be released unfinished.

Re: God of War TV Series 'Honours' Norse Games, Teases Greek Saga

TheDudeKenobi

This might be one that just shouldn't be adapted to TV. The story of the Greek saga is pivotol to Kratos's development in the Norse saga, and knowing what he did beat for beat really emphasized the smaller moments of growth. After TLoU S2, I'm not particularly excited for another half baked yet also drawn out adaptation of a story we already know.

Re: Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero's Daima DLC Drops This Week Alongside Big Gameplay Updates

TheDudeKenobi

They're cool additions, and the characters most people want will def come with DLC 3, but my biggest issue is the lack of dubbing with this DLC. I watched Daima in sub all the way thru, but I just prefer the English dub in general for DB. The English dub has reached the point in the show where all the DLC characters' English voices would have already been heard, so the lack of simuldubbing in the games is pretty lame.

And just to pile on because we DB fans are never satisfied, more stages and customization would be nice!

Re: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Imminent on PS5 as ESRB Rating Emerges

TheDudeKenobi

For anyone who doesn't have an Xbox/PC and missed this one, it's well worth the playthrough. I played it on Series S using Game Pass, and while it looked muddy on the Series S, it was an enjoyable gameplay experience. I'm going to be purchasing this one for sure on the PS5 Pro to play it in higher fidelity. Yes, I'm purchasing this game even though I have it on Game Pass. If you like Indiana Jones, it's that good and worth the money, plus I want a physical case to put next to the movies!
