Update []: Patch 1.1.1 (technically 1.011.054 on PS5, just to be awkward) is available to download now. It's a hefty but reasonable 12.4GB in size.
Just to quickly recap, this update prepares the game for the Claws of Awaji expansion that's releasing next week, while also implementing some welcome gameplay additions and adjustments.
You can find the full patch notes in the original article below.
Original Story: Assassin's Creed Shadows is getting another meaty update that prepares the game for its Claws of Awaji expansion.
Patch 1.1.1 launches tomorrow — that's the 11th September, at the time of writing — while the aforementioned expansion drops next week, on the 16th September.
The update comes packed with a bunch of welcome additions, including an increase to the level cap (all the way to 100!), the ability to skip time by meditating, and the option of upgrading your equipment to an even higher quality.
What's more, a new story quest is being deployed on the 16th, alongside Claws of Awaji. You won't need the DLC to access it, and you'll be rewarded with a Bo staff for Naoe. The new weapon type was previously exclusive to the expansion, but all players will be able to try it out next week.

I dropped the game a few weeks after release but want to get back into playing and finishing it after a bunch of updates.
L100 oh god the trophy hunters are gonna be mad. People were already fuming that the difference btw L60 and L80 is like 20+ hours of XP grinding.
Ghost of Yotei.
!!! Time skip...platinum here i come
@wilky2988 trophy hunter here, I just had a Quick Look through the trophy list and didn’t see a trophy attached to max level… do you know which trophy it is that’s affected?
I've spent an absurd amount of time building out the hideout in this game. One day, I'll make the effort to put a video on YouTube or something 😂.Looking forward to the expansion!
@QiaraIris Yup, Ghost of Yotei is going to mop up
It's amazing it took so long to add time skip. That will be a hugely useful feature that I wish had been there from launch
@Frmknst it's not like it was in the past though the resale value drops so drastically just a month after release that it's not worth it you might as well keep it to play it again or try it out if there's updates
This game in particular will get you like 15 to 20 bucks resell now, maybe 30 tops a month or two after launch
No map defogging? That was one of the major additions planned for this update.
Most of the "update" feels like fluff that could have come sooner. Naoe should have been given a better new weapon like a bow. It would help with her stealth attacks.
@dmband23 it’s literally in the patch notes. You need to activate all viewpoints in an area to defog
@Greifchen ah it was buried in the scouts upgrade portion, my mistake.
i need night skip so bad only getting around to defogging the map after about 200hr clocked in between a couple of big hiatuses. Trying to hit up every point of interest on between , you know how it goes can’t wait to start up the story quests
Still not sorted the weird camera inversion. So stupid it puts me off playing it

The map clearing with all viewpoints is single-handedly going to be what brings me back. I got so burnt out running to every corner of the map trying to fill it out and remove the fog of war, especially when there is so much of the map that's just forests and mountains with nothing going on.
@QiaraIris i'm going to enjoy the both of them.
Sounds silly, I am sure, but waiting til night might sell me on this game. I need to watch a YouTube video to see if actually is dark though. Dragon's Dogma and Tainted Grail are some of the few games that get that right...
Anyway, I'm a scoundrel in sneaky games. I want it to be dark.
Also the sun needs to shut up anyway. Too damned bright.
@graymamba Saw the new DLC trophy list go live earlier, and I didn’t see a new trophy for L100 (just the old one for L80 still) so maybe we’re spared.
I'm excited for all of these, but I'm not going to jump back in yet. Its a very good game, but I'm looking forward to Ghost of Yotai next, and I'll probably start over with AC Shadows sometime down the line where there is more expansion content. That's what I did with Odyssey and Valhalla.
@Deadlyblack
I dropped it a few weeks after release myself. I just haven't found the desire to go back to it...yet.
I enjoy the game but it feels like a step backwards to the previous 3 RPG AC games yet nothing like the classic games. It's in a weird middle ground for me.
Perhaps it's the limitation to exploring off the main paths as I feel the only way to efficiently travel is by the roads. Traversing through the forests is basically impossible most of the time.
Either I'll get back to it someday, or it will end up unfinished like Valhalla for me.
@QiaraIris hard pass
Im probably picking this up since its reduced to $41.99 on PSN.
