Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants is a fun little slice of Indy action. Set within the maze-like tunnels beneath the Vatican City, Indy, working with a priest and his pet parrot, is trying to uncover a millenia-spanning mystery regarding giant warriors.
The DLC, which runs for about three hours or so, isn’t anything vastly different from what we’ve seen in the brilliant main campaign. You’ll explore ancient caverns, engage in a bit of fisticuffs, and tackle a puzzle or two. Classic Indy stuff.
The setting itself primarily consists of claustrophobic tunnels, with one open river area. MachineGames has a penchant for capturing a setting, though; after exploring every nook and cranny of the Vatican City in the base game, it’s fun to explore a new area just around the corner. But don’t expect the density or scale of those settings, as it’s mainly setdressing here.
The puzzles are the biggest takeaway from the DLC. There are some genuine headscratchers in here, with the game’s high fidelity allowing you to examine the ancient markings on tomb walls. It’s great stuff.
Narratively, we weren’t all too fussed as the expansion made its start – it all feels quite casual as something that only tangentially links to the main campaign. However, come the end, The Order of Giants manages to weave that fine line between ancient mysteries and genuine mythical hijinks.
We played through this one on the PS5 Pro and it ran brilliantly for the most part. The ray-traced reflections are incredibly immersive alongside its solid 60 frames-per-second performance.
Interestingly, there were some slight visual hiccups, with the joins in walls sparkling white at times — and we experienced one cutscene with a flickering lighting glitch. It's a shame, because 95% of this DLC looks and runs just as well as the base game.
The Order of Giants isn’t going to change anyone’s opinion on the MachineGames Indy outing. If you didn’t like it before, you won’t like this. Similarly for returning players looking for something new, you won't find it here, and as expected, it lacks the scale that we loved so much in the main game.
However, if you're just looking for a few more hours with your favourite quipping archaeologist, then The Order of Giants offers up just that, with a fun storyline, great visuals, and some fantastic puzzles.

$20 for just three hours of DLC is a little steep. Phantom Liberty was only $10 more and was 15hrs if you mainlined, 25 to 30 if you did all the side content. Crap, the whole silksong game is only $20 lmao
@StitchJones yea there seems to be no rhyme or reason to DLC pricing these days. You'll see costume packs for $40+ alongside expansions that add hours of content for $10-20. Feels like they just pick numbers out of a hat sometimes.
I was really hoping for either a continuation or just a separate mini story. Not a big fan of these DLCs that just happen during the events of the narrative, as it makes it feel like they were cut intentionally just so they could sell it later. This is especially so when areas in the Vatican City felt weirdly cut off, and now they're seemingly being reopened here, like the Vatican Gardens.
@StitchJones agreed. Always think of the heart of stone and blood and wine dlc’s for the Witcher 3. Especially blood and wine, was basically a whole new game. Short dlc for that price isn’t worth it for me
The price puts me off regarding such short gameplay. Robocop dlc is the same price yet double the playtime. Shame as I loved the base game
It's higher than px they gave it a 6 what's going on 🤣
@StitchJones silksong was basically paid for from hollow knight I think though they smashed those crowdfunding things with 1st game. Plus probs got a chunk of money with been on gamepass
Indiana jones the base game is great i love it but £18 for a few hours entertainment isn't good enough for me
@Lukeaj93 Those DLC's were great. Phantom Liberty was awesome too. I have a cyberpunk themed bias though. But no denying, CDPR knows how to do DLC
@RicebinBernacky Very likely games that launched on gamepass will have higher prices DLC than games launched traditionally. Thought process might be people who didn’t pay for the base game are likely to pay more for DLC? Not backing this on anything, just an observation.
Base game was so good and on par with the old movies. I’ll play this sometime when on sale
I played the base game on Xbox so will wait for a game of the year edition with all dlc included to buy it on Playstation. Fantastic game though.
Haven't played it. Firdt perdon just isnt my cup of tea, esp when they have so much detailed climbing and cut scenes, id of loved for a 3rd person game.
But this dlc at that price just shows not much point.
I may aswel wait for the ultimate edition and then a sale.
Or just buy gamepass for a month when im bored. And then have xbox refund me the months subscription hahaha
Far too short and repetitive for the price. Not much more than a few puzzles reached by crisscrossing the same sewers over and over again. The main game was expansive and full of surprises and humor, but the dlc does little to none of this.
I loved the base game and actually forgot that I'd bought the deluxe version so already have the DLC.
