Re: Talking Point: What Are Your PS1 Memories?

StrawberryPink

The PS1 was my introduction to the console wars. Despite the aggressive marketing between the Super Nintendo and the Sega Genesis, there were no such wars on my grade school playground. Everyone acknowledged that both systems had their own great games and friendships were forged so everyone could get a taste of the console they didn't own. Then the PS1 came out and everything changed. Suddenly Sony was King and Nintendo was a baby's system. I had a Nintendo 64 and I enjoyed it. No one I knew had a PS1 so I never got to play it on the original hardware. I bought a PS2 in the mid-2000s and played the heck out of it. Skipped the PS3 in favor of the Xbox 360, but went back to the PS4 and later PS5 after the disastrous Xbox One launch reveal. I love my Sony systems but I still haven't played any PS1 games, even all these years later.

Re: Cancelled Over 10 Years Ago, PS2-Era Action Game Captain Blood Returns on PS5, PS4

I love how this trailer doesn't take itself seriously, not even the "not final footage" disclaimer. Like it's begging people to acknowledge that this is a port of an old game and not seeking to be the next technical masterpiece that pushes modern systems to their limits so please forgive its faults. I never heard of this game before, but I am all for it. Give me decent controls and I'll be happy.

Re: Poll: Which Xbox Franchises Would You Buy on PS5?

StrawberryPink

As much as I love the Fallout and Elder Scrolls franchises, I didn't care that Microsoft bought Bethesda because I built a gaming PC solely for modding Bethesda games. I might buy previously exclusive Xbox games if they came out on the PS5 but I'm not exactly eagerly anticipating the opportunity.

Re: PSN Hit with Account, Social, and PlayStation Store Issues

StrawberryPink

Oddly enough, I was able to download the latest patch for Maneater but I am unable to play the game as my console cannot connect to PSN. Does something happen to reset the "primary console" designation, like firmware updates? I made sure my console was set as such months ago, but now I am locked out of my digital games because PSN is down.

Re: Poll: Did E3 2021 Suck?

StrawberryPink

I much prefer what Sony and Nintendo do: have digital presentations whenever they want to announce games or release new footage or information for previously announced titles.

Re: All DualSense PS5 Controller Colours

StrawberryPink

I'm all for colorful controllers. I have a red PS4 controller that I affectionately call "Reddy." But that "cosmic red" is more a "dull magenta." I guess I'm sticking with the default white controller for now.

Re: Random: Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 Makes V Sleep Like a Normal Person (Kind Of)

StrawberryPink

I have a feeling this game is going to be like Skyrim: 9 official patches making the game run okay but certain sections can be a mess. Fans create an unofficial patch for PC that can make you forget it's a buggy mess until you're reminded that the console version exists.

I'm not trying to knock consoles. There are some games that run just fine on console but run poorly on PC or took many official patches, or unofficial ones, to eventually run well on PC.

Re: Poll: What Free PS4 Games Are You Most Excited to Play?

StrawberryPink

Everyone I meet won't stop singing Rez's praises so it's a great way to see it for myself. I love Abzu so I'm looking forward to Subnautica. I'd download Horizon Zero Dawn but I have it on disc and when I entered the code to get the free theme, it somehow unlocked the digital version of the game as well.

Re: Next Life Is Strange Game to Be Announced During New Square Enix Livestream

StrawberryPink

@JustPlainLoco I can only speak for myself, but I was very emotionally invested in Max and Chloe's story. I assumed that the same emotional connection would be present with the boys in Life Is Strange 2 via the power of Dontnod's writing but that never happened. I never bonded with the boys. By the end of the first episode of LiS 1, I was hooked. By the end of the first episode of LiS 2, I didn't care. I had no desire to keep playing.

Re: Future Bethesda Games Will Ship 'Where Game Pass Exists'

StrawberryPink

I want to have a better gaming PC by the time Elder Scrolls 6 comes out for mod support, so I guess I'll be playing future Doom titles on that as well. Now if Microsoft wants to be complete jerks and make them only available on Gamepass, I can finally break the habit of being sucked into Bethesda's broken games.

Re: PS Store Prequels & Sequels Sale Has Few Noteworthy PS4 Deals

@Daleaf The core gameplay is simple: you're either in court, calling out witnesses' crap by poking holes in their claims or presenting evidence that contradicts their claim, or you're moving around different areas, which are static images, looking for evidence. The characters and the story of each individual case, and the overarching story spanning all three games, is the biggest hook.

It's not a sim. The legal system is loosely based on the Japanese court system but is greatly altered to become its own entity. So characters will do things that are meant to hinder your progress and feel cheap, which makes earning that "not guilty" verdict all the sweeter.

It's a one-and-done game. Once you finish it, you've seen everything. There are no alternate paths. If you fail a case, it's game over and you have to start again. The one exception is the final case in the second game. If you fail to present the right item to the right person, you get the bad ending, which doesn't affect your overall game because if you continue to the third game, it ignores the events that happen.

I highly recommend it, especially when it's on sale to better justify the one-and-done nature of the game.
