We’ve always thought Hot Wheels Unleashed looked good, but we were beginning to worry about the backdrops you’d be driving through. So far, industrious developer Milestone has mostly focused on bland garage-style environments – but this latest trailer for the PlayStation 5 and PS4 racer has a bit more spectacle to it, as the track tilts precariously off the edge of a skyscraper.
Once back inside, the interior details are again a bit drab, but the actual design of the track itself is zany – you’re going upside-down, driving up walls, and drifting through loop-the-loops. It all looks a lot more exciting than previous footage – which was still pretty good – and has reassured us that the Italian studio is, ahem, on the right track.

Looks a lot better, pre-alpha still anyway. Hope you can customise the track parts a bit, too. Looks quite varied when it comes to cars, as well. An oil tanker versus what looks like a flashy super car... Interesting xD
This honestly doesn’t look that bad. Reminds me of the sorta games I played back when I was a kid.
Multi-player split screen and ability to create your own tracks - what's not to like?
This game has my attention and a good chance I will pick it up day one physical copy.
For some reason I just don't really like the look of this.
With all the different hot wheels cars, trucks, whatever. Done right, this is a Lego gold mine.
I hope this game has some of the whacky intersections and Hot Wheels sets included in some tracks. It certainly looks good from a "pure" arcade racing standpoint, but it doesn't even seem to have a bump/attack system like you'd see in F-Zero. It's just... kinda boring.
If you're going to call the game "Unleashed" then go ahead and embrace the craziness. I think I'd prefer it to have taken a page from Split/Second's playbook and have big interactive elements like sodas being spilled on the track, or kids coming in and changing the layout mid-race. Play up the fact it's toys and go a little wilder with it.
Oh heck yes. Did anybody else's stomach drop with the jump outside the skyscraper? Magnificent. Can't wait to get my hands on this one.
I can't really explain why, but I've GOT to have this!
An almost definite buy for me but maybe not day one because I don't want a sequel.
I love the variety of the cars.
... why are they STILL showing 'pre-alpha' videos when it's supposed to be out in just a few months?
...I do love me a good fun arcade racer, but I'd be very worried about this one... I think this is going to be a fail... those tracks and backgrounds look SO dull... remember what Forza 3 did with Hot Wheels? That's what people will be looking to as a reference... :/
