I wouldn't say a lot of people wanted MHW to fail more than just by large salty (not all mind you) Nintendo fanboys (am I allowed to say that?) that were upset that it wasn't coming to Nintendo hardware. Remember, as it's always said around these parts, we're just a small section of the gaming community at large (as evidenced by the success of MHW)
Though seriously, to be fair, this is one of the few articles where there was a direct correlation to Nintendo hardware and 3rd party support. To the point that Nintendo and the Switch was mentioned in the article. On the other hand, though I don't comment much, I have noticed the threads increasingly overtaken by talk of Nintendo and the Switch even when it's not warranted, so there's that. I can see where that would be tiresome (at least with content where Nintendo or other platforms aren't mentioned)
I don't get the whole "you, us, we and them" team mentality either, (even the Sony fans on this site does it. See comment #2) but then again, I'm a multi platform owner and I just play a game on whatever system it makes personal sense for me to play on. I get that not everybody can do that or even want to do that.
On topic: I'll more than likely give Burst Re:Newal a go, but like Ralizah, I'm a little disappointed that side scrolling gameplay is getting the ax. ( Though I suppose it makes sense for the given hardware)

@lacerz perhaps @BAMozzy was trying to stay on topic and not talk about MS?
Topic on hand: I suppose dating releases really doesn't matter to me unless it's a game I really, really want to play. Even then, my backlog is so immense that time flies before I know it.
That's absolutely crazy. Especially when you consider that I don't think the game was ever an official pack-in. I never played the game, probably never even plan to, but kudos to Rockstar!
As long as Sony isn't complacent I'm sure they will be fine. Personally I don't think anyone's sleeping on Sony. I'd wager everyone knows, and the expectation is there, that they'll have an excellent E3 no matter what based on current track record. (I still don't think 2015 was the best in all of ever, but I digress )
Microsoft and especially Nintendo are playing the underdog role this time, with new hardware, so naturally eyes would gravitate there. And who doesn't like the underdog?(present company notwithstanding? )
@Neolit honestly, I just saw a perfect opportunity to use a "Broken" Matt Hardy meme and had to jump on it. Nothing against @waluigifan1 or his/her opinion personally
On topic: that's crazy about Ghost Recon. We must all live in a bubble indeed. I don't think I've played a title in that series that I have actually liked, but good on Ubisoft.
Perhaps Sony could deploy some sort of "rental" system as an option. Rent the game for a certain price (I know, I know sounds like PS Now) if the game holds up, you can purchase it at anytime (minus the rental amount) if you don't like it, you lose the license and few bucks when the rental expires.
I can't really envision the financial implications of such a thing, but hey it's something and fair enough considering even if you bought physical, once you open the game, you lose over half the value, as the only option is to trade in.
@adf86 very true. I'd argue it'd be a very viable alternative if developers put more effort into mobile VR games. After all, it is powered by Oculus. And you're strapping what could equate to a high end device to your face in that it's a phone that's pretty much the same price as a PSVR and PS4 combined.
Does Samsung's Gear VR not count as domination, being they've sold through 5 million? Not a slight against PSVR, because I do actually have one and enjoy it. So it's a legit question.
Is the criteria for its price point? Or for the market they are targeting? (since mobile gaming isn't quite up there with console/PC gaming yet) or does it have to be a dedicated headset? (one you don't use your phone as the screen).
Honestly I can't think of a single game that had better animations than U4. (when we're talking about realistic games that is) it's one of the best looking games I've seen in a while.
Yes, now I will shut up and stop whining! It's the main reason I almost never got multiplat games for the PS4. I'm still juggling space as it is. I got a 4tb drive that's been waiting for this day.
To the surprise of no one... It was a good run Microsoft.
@Matroska they were both at around $250 for almost the whole holiday season. In the case of Xbox One, I'm pretty sure it held at thatprice point the whole season, if I'm not misremembering.
@rjejr now now, don't be so negative. I'd actually be willing to give an Uncharted movie a shot. I mean the game is already like a movie anyways. I've never seen a game so ripe for Hollywood.
@THRILLHOU "Still think that Nathan Fillon would be perfect, but it's not likely."
So much this! I actually came here to say that. Pair Fillon with Joss Whedon as writer or director? Prefection! Though when I think of Sully, I've always imagined J.K. Simmons in the role for some reason.
Sony's been king for awhile and Nintendo and MS are basically starting at square one for their new platforms, (particularly in Nintendo's case) so I don't think Sony has much to worry about in that regard. Will there be a slowing in growth? Maybe. But as long as they keep putting out quality games and have all the major 3rd parties in their back pocket, they'll be fine.
If anything, they could make the Pro more attractive, maybe start bundling a game or a price drop near Scorpio's launch? Then again, what will Scorpio's MSRP be?, Surely that will be a factor. Nintendo seems to be going after an entirely different market, and it's releasing at a weird time, so that one is a little harder to call.
@Gamer83 so... No room for objectivity? Gotcha. Well whatever group you're talking about, I'm not a part of it. So I'm not exactly sure why I'm being attacked, (unless I just happen to be the straw that broke the camel's back)
But whatevs. I'm not here to argue, I'm just here along with everyone else to give my 2 cents, whether it's positive, negative, or neutral and will continue to do exactly that, regardless of platform.
@Gamer83 where in my comment did I kiss Nintendo's back side? Or even write off Uncharted 4's sales? Did I not mention they were outstanding numbers? Did you even truly read my comment?
All I questioned really was the attach rate not holding due to the Sony selling more of the Pro in the future. I also mentioned Nintendo's extremely small install base (in comparison to their contemporaries) skewing their attach rate on evergreen titles (as its generally all Nintendo has to bank on due to abysmal 3rd party support)
As a gamer, Why would I want to see Sony or Naughty dog fail? They make some of the best games in the industry. But c'mon. Almost 7 million PS4 sold over the holidays. Insane number. Absolutely that helped Uncharted 4's numbers. That's fact. Especially when you consider that Uncharted 4 has been a pack in for while (if I'm not misremembering)
@BLP_Software of course the same could be said about almost all Nintendo evergreen titles. They generally have an an insane attach ratio over the lifetime of their consoles. Of course, with the exception of the Wii, Nintendo sells less consoles than their competitors, and even in the case of the Wii, evergreen titles were the creme of the crop considering all the shovelware that was released on it, so sample size is kind of skewed.
Concerning Uncharted 4, surely that attach rate won't hold as more folks opt for PS4 Pros, but outstanding numbers nonetheless. Though I'm also inclined to agree with @rjejr that the pack in played a big part of its success over the holidays.
@rjejr I'm starting to believe that we live on an alternate Earth where we think KH3 exist only because we have a window to the other earth where it does...
Considering the cost of the Oculus/Vive vs the PSVR, it wouldn't surprise me if it outsold them, especially given the large PS4 install base.
That said, I know most of the stores in my area (antedocial evidence here) got received around 20-40 units I wonder if they'll hit that "hundreds of thousands" number.
@PlaytendoGuy that's honestly what I'm thinking. It's the same reason I didn't buy a One S, couldn't justify the purchase. Though it does play 4K blu-ray, so I'm currently reconsidering. Overall I'd rather spend my money on new platforms like the PSVR and NX, than on iterative hardware.
@AFCC that's a unique way of saying "first" (I jest )
Concerning the article, I'm thinking of splurging on the Pro. Granted I'm not terribly impressed. But the girlfriend and I just scored an awesome deal on a HDR 4K TV, and she told me that I may as well put it to work.
I, on the other hand, am fine with my standard PS4 especially since I'm dropping $500 on the PSVR next month. I'm going to take a page out of @rjejr book and wait until I see some sides by side comparisons betweeen the two. Also taking a page out of his book, I'm just going to randomly slide NX in this paragraph.
@rjejr pfft. @JaxonH didn't even get the XBox One S (to be fair I'm still contemplating) also, we must remember he's Daddy Warbucks, and Best Buy Special Ambassador. What does he know of "maxed out credit cards?"
The great part of the Neo news? The NX announcement can't be too far behind. No more worrying about who's going to announce what first (not that there was much worrying in the first place)
It's not happening this gen. Maybe with Rocket League 2 next gen. The way I see it, if Microsoft is going to treat the XBox brand as an extension of its Windows service, then with the new hardware combined with software, the line between XBox and PC will be blurred enough to allow seamless cross play with Playstation gamers. But that's me dreaming.
@Neolit "Soon enough Tomb Raider became synonymous with PlayStation. For the younger push square audience: What Uncharted is today to PlayStation, that was Tomb Raider."
I can see where you're going, but at the same time, your analogy as a whole is slightly uneven. Just because a brand became synonymous with another, doesn't automatically make it that other brand's property, thus meaning entitled to special treatment. Uncharted is developed by a subsidiary of Sony and as such the only place you'll ever see an Uncharted game is on a Sony system unless they do something crazy and sell the company and it's IP. Like you said, and I'm well aware of this as well, Tomb Raider started life as a multi-platform game, as such could probably go anywhere as it pleases. As a matter of fact Tomb Raider (at launch, not the re-releases) has been on a number of platforms throughout the years, released on various consoles. With the exception of TR2, the series has seen it's release on Sega consoles, until the Dreamcast's demise. As a gamer that's not tied to any one system (well Nintendo has a special place in my heart, but that's irrelevant to the discussion ) That's how I see the whole thing.
Also, we don't know the specifics, Square Enix could have very well went to Sony first and and asked for finances, and they could've been, "Nah, we're good. We already have a game like that in our portfolio and it's called Uncharted" Not to mention, Sony may have wanted to lock exclusivity, So they went to MS. That's all in my head cannon, though. Ha.
Though I see you, as evidenced by your posts, that you're a stand up guy with decorum and you would have that same stance no matter what system it was, so really I'm not knocking on you. My stance just happens to be that deals happen like this all the time, so it's not a big deal to me, and people shouldn't feel slapped in the face, because they didn't what they wanted when they wanted. At the end of the day, these entities are businesses and they follow the money. If MS gave them what they needed to make the game they wanted, then I can't be too mad at that.
And that's not to say I don't understand the consumer side, I just hope PS4 sales don't suffer so much, because people refuse to buy it, that they confuse consumer's discontent about how everything played out with "I guess they don't want another TR." That's the part that sucks about voting with your wallet, particularly in the video game industry. If you buy the game in swaths, then they think how they handle business is okay, but if sales suffer, even an iota, they think in the other extreme
@get2sammyb to be fair they had a real challenge from day one, when people were whining that Microsoft announced it as an exclusive. Then got worst when they were being dodgy about the timing of release on other platforms (because you know, why would they if they wanted to convince people to buy an Xbox One at the time). Lots of folks (on here, at least) were vowing never to buy it, because "Lara had betrayed them, even claiming they had Nathan Drake now, so screw Lara, because they would be too busy with him and all of their backlog anyways." Now that Uncharted is said and done, most are still proclaiming "BACKLOG!" almost a year later (which admittedly this year people will actually be more backlog heavy than they were last year with new hardware releases and even more great content). So yea, I said all that to say this: RotTR was always going to be a heard sell and the poll results don't surprise me in the least.
There's like what, 25-30 million PS4 owners out there? You gotta know all of them can't possibly be as hardcore as folks on a PS focused site. If advertised correctly, I'd imagine even a small percentage of sales would yield a good ROI. Will it be enough for Square Enix? Now that's the intresting tidbit.
A great game is a great game, exclusives be darned! Even if I was a PS only gamer, I don't think I would've been too fussed about waiting for it. Like I said before, I'm probably going to double dip and buy it, even if it's at full price. Definitely if it's enhanced for the Neo. I want a third TR, so yep. Supporting the devs.
@JaxonH @DaveIsAnAceGamer especially when you consider more likely than not, DLC will come in tow. Something the X1 userbase paid 30 extra bucks for.
@Branj0 like Jaxon said, RotTR is great and easily worth it's asking price, paticularly if you're a PS only gamer. Heck, I'll probably even double dip if it's enhanced for the Neo. This may be sacrilege saying this on here, but dare I say I'm enjoying it slightly more than Uncharted 4. And I LOVED Uncharted 4.
@ComicBookGuy I have a charger next to my sofa as well, but where I sit to play games in relation to where the charger is makes charging while playing a bit more difficult. Also since it plugs in at the top of the controller there's a little bend at the end of the USB cord and I've already messed up a couple already.
I do however plug it into the front of the Playstation 4 when the dogs aren't around, otherwise they'll just yank it out crossing through. I'll probably just end up trying to find a cord the length the ones that come with the XB1's play and charge kit. Those are the perfect length, but sadly aren't compatible with DS4s lol
I've never been a fan of the Dual Shocks, as they have never been too conformable to me. The DS4 is a step up in ergonomics, but a step back in quality and battery life. Honestly, I'd just be happy with a DS4 that will last me through a lengthy gaming session without swapping controllers or stopping to charge.
Whereas I said Sony's E3 didn't impress me last year, this one pretty much knocked my socks off. Like couple said above, it sorta lacked in the variety department, but the pacing was second to none. I was excited for just about everything shown.
I've yet to go back and see MS's conference though, but I'm sure it didn't top this one.

Re: Lara Croft's Tomb Raider Rises on PS4 with New Story, Modes, and PlayStation VR
I have to say this turn of events is rather funny!
Re: Poll: Will You Pay Full Price for Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4?
Re: Poll: Will You Pay Full Price for Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4?
A great game is a great game, exclusives be darned! Even if I was a PS only gamer, I don't think I would've been too fussed about waiting for it. Like I said before, I'm probably going to double dip and buy it, even if it's at full price. Definitely if it's enhanced for the Neo. I want a third TR, so yep. Supporting the devs.
Re: Rumour: Lara Croft's Rise of the Tomb Raider Rushes PS4 on 11th October
@JaxonH @DaveIsAnAceGamer especially when you consider more likely than not, DLC will come in tow. Something the X1 userbase paid 30 extra bucks for.
@Branj0 like Jaxon said, RotTR is great and easily worth it's asking price, paticularly if you're a PS only gamer. Heck, I'll probably even double dip if it's enhanced for the Neo. This may be sacrilege saying this on here, but dare I say I'm enjoying it slightly more than Uncharted 4. And I LOVED Uncharted 4.
Re: Sony Patents Elite PS4 Controller with Paddles and Adaptable Layout
Re: Sony Patents Elite PS4 Controller with Paddles and Adaptable Layout
I've never been a fan of the Dual Shocks, as they have never been too conformable to me. The DS4 is a step up in ergonomics, but a step back in quality and battery life. Honestly, I'd just be happy with a DS4 that will last me through a lengthy gaming session without swapping controllers or stopping to charge.
Re: Talking Point: Did Sony PlayStation's E3 2016 Press Conference Deliver?
Whereas I said Sony's E3 didn't impress me last year, this one pretty much knocked my socks off. Like couple said above, it sorta lacked in the variety department, but the pacing was second to none. I was excited for just about everything shown.
I've yet to go back and see MS's conference though, but I'm sure it didn't top this one.
