@dskatter Cross gen is going to be more and more of a thing going forwards, especially with the Switch 2 now out. Gran Turismo 7 wasn't supposed to be on PS4, the developers simply found out a way to make it work. Crossgen is easier than ever.
“Licensed content”. This should not be an issue in keeping games in a playable state. I can play Gran Turismo 4 right now, listen to all its licensed music drive all those licensed cars, even though the licensing deal must be well over by now. Yet the game is still incredibly playable, works perfectly without the threat of an online shutdown.
@cainhurst94 That seems to be indicating that they think they have a massive hit of a presentation on their hands, but considering 2023 was similar, I'm still going into this one cautious.
Interesting that they've announced this State of Play over a week before its premiere. Hopefully that's because it has a stellar showcase that Sony can't wait to show off.
Having said that, the 2023 PlayStation showcase was also announced over a week beforehand..........
Sega's an interesting one, because I cannot think of a console game they've developed or published that have micro transactions in them. Not saying they haven't made or published any, but nothing's coming to the top of my head.
@DennisReynolds If I understand correctly, it's actually illegal to sell games with "that" content in Japan, hence why games like God of War 3, Baldur's Gate 3, The Witcher 3 etc are all censored there.
And as for the whole "based off a real woman" thing, I believe Eve's model was created in part by body scanning a Korean model, with other aspects of her appearance being based off of the director's wife.
@somnambulance It's been 13 years since Legends came out. There's reasons to be apprahensive over the weekend, but 13 years is a fairly appropriate time for a game to be remade.
How do you mess up digital releases nowadays? With physical, I at least understand that a retailer might mess up a release date, but surely digital distribution would be much tighter by now.
As a 99.9% physical collector, I believe that we could see more AAA taking the Alan Wake 2 approach and release the physical release a year later, but as the stats say, physical games are being bought still (I’d love to know what the split is for games like FIFA and COD).
But I’m not worried about physical just yet. Worst comes to worst, some games will have their physical copies delayed by a year or three (cough cough, Hi Fi Rush)
It might be a me thing, but I haven’t noticed THAT many reviews or discussion about the title prior to release. It’s been Pragmata that got a lot of the internet talking. Hopefully sales pick up in time, I certainly intend to get both Pragmata and Saros some point in the near future.
@somnambulance And there's nothing wrong with that. Not every game is going to appeal to everyone, and I can see why you playing as an abuser who may or may not be redeemed at the end can be offputting.
@DennisReynolds Looking through my game collection, the only PS4 or PS5 game I own to star an undeniably toxic male protagonist is Tekken 7, a game made by a Japanese dev.
@themightyant It's probably done in order to help prevent (or at least limit) potential misinformation from spreading any further than it has to. Which considering the context of the fake spoilers, is probably for the best.
I’ll give Sony time to explain themselves, but if this is an attempt to force DRM into PlayStation……….let’s just say that my faith in Sony will be at an all time low.
It doesn’t matter what the price is, I just don’t believe that the future of gaming is streaming, regardless of the amount of analysts trying to convince me otherwise.
Console gaming is something you have to focus on, to put your whole attention in. All the big streaming services like Netflix and Spotify provide very passive entertainment that you’re expected to flick through then dismiss.
I'm in two minds. On the one hand, it sucks for the developers for them not to get that game out. On the otherhand, games like Redfall should never have seen the light of day, so if P11 was struggling that badly, I wouldn't blame the decision to save face and cancel it.
@DennisReynolds I was wondering the same thing. Xbox seem really keen on marketing all these Atlus games, but who on Xbox even cares about Persona? If you like that sort of game, surely you jumped on the PlayStation or Nintendo bandwagon a decade ago.
@LogicStrikesAgain nobody should ever use Metacritic scores alone to decide how good a game may be. By all means, it’s a valuable resource, but it’s important to digest where those scores have come from.
As for the game itself? Excellent. Glad to know it’s good. I am looking forward to playing it in June when physical version comes out.
@JPEGMakima in fairness, if they added more Sonic characters, I feel it’d be more annoying that they don’t have any dialogue. And I can’t think of any major Sonic character who’s been missed out this time.
@3Above Agreed. As much as I love and adore Gravity Rush, that and the second game were the only games Toyama made post Silent Hill to have a Metacritic score in the 80s.
@Clytorial_Impact Oh, I'm aware that gaming literacy is improving (if ever so slightly) but it isn't just an age thing. A lot of parents simply don't know what the game was about. I was having dinner with family, and one of the little kids spouted something about GTA which made his mother shocked, because she didn't know what was in GTA.
I don't get why these are so controversial to be honest. Greek mythology is full of this stuff, and it's not like God of War is aimed at kids (not the ones who actually pay attention to the age ratings anyway).
@Oram77 Don't stop dreaming, but we're more likely to see Superman 64 and ET looked back on as 10/10 classics than we are to see a PS5 remake of Majora's Mask.
My thoughts go out to those affected, but based on what I've seen of it, it would've required the biggest conspiracy in the history of gaming for anybody to have said anything remotely positive about it.

Re: PS5 First-Party Sales Have Fallen Sharply, But It Doesn't Tell the Full Story
@AdamNovice To be fair, Astro Bot probably cost ten times less at least than a lot of those AAA narrative games.
Re: PS5 First-Party Sales Have Fallen Sharply, But It Doesn't Tell the Full Story
I think one of the biggest reasons for this is because most of these games are narrative sequels.
If you haven't played the story based God of War or Spider-Man, why are you suddenly going to pick up the sequels?

How would the “occasional 3d sections” work with this game’s art style?
Re: 'That's a Huge Bummer': Street Fighter 6 World Tour Support Ends with Ingrid on PS5, PS4
Honestly I'm impressed that they added all the new DLC characters to the World Tour to begin with.
Re: Reaction: I'm Sad It's Over, But Destiny's End Was Overdue
Destiny 2 first came out in 2017, so it had about nine years of updates and expansions. It’s no WOW, but it had a good life.
Re: Bubsy 4D (PS5) - The Best of a Bad Bunch
With two lives remaining, maybe....one day....Bubsy will get a game that FINALLY meets the quality standards of an old 3D PS1 collectathon platformer.

Re: No One Noticed Intergalactic's Hidden Naughty Dog Easter Egg
@Matroska Damnit, I got the name wrong.
And really, has it been twelve years already?
Re: No One Noticed Intergalactic's Hidden Naughty Dog Easter Egg
When modern PlayStation think of Naughty Dog, they think of Neil Druckmann and Amy Hemming.
When I think of Naughty Dog, it's Jason Ruben and Andy Griffiths.
Re: SEGA Cancels Super Game Project and Moves Away from Live Service
@themightyant @Ainu20
Ohhhhhhhhhhh....... I've only played Yakuza 0, so I never noticed the Sega's microtransactions.
I've noticed their shady DLC deals, such as selling the original soundtrack for Monkey Ball Banana Mania, but never their microtransactions.
Re: SEGA Cancels Super Game Project and Moves Away from Live Service

Re: Stellar Blade 2 PS5 Reveal This Year, But Sony Won't Publish It
@anoyonmus I think the first game was originally supposed to be a multi platform release, when it was first showed off under the Project Eve name.

@TornAsunder I think the far more likely explanation is that Shift Up are a big enough company to develop and publish the game themselves.

Re: Rumour: Rayman Legends Remake May Be Announced This Summer
@AdamNovice Legends already has most of Origins' levels in it
Re: Rumour: Rayman Legends Remake May Be Announced This Summer
Honestly, this wasn't the Rayman game I was hoping to get remade. Rayman 2 I thought was the logical choice in that regard.

Re: Fake Saros PS5 Story Details Are Circulating Online - Here's What Actually Happens
@Ambassador_Kong Are there even any toxic masculine males in TLOU2? I wouldn't call Joel in this game toxic (for obvious reasons).
Re: Fake Saros PS5 Story Details Are Circulating Online - Here's What Actually Happens
@Gbarsotini Black Cat has to be bi surely, she was in a relationship with Parker prior to the first game.
Re: Fake Saros PS5 Story Details Are Circulating Online - Here's What Actually Happens
@Gbarsotini Wasn't the lesbianism in Spider-Man 2 merely Black Cat saying she had a girlfriend?
Re: Fake Saros PS5 Story Details Are Circulating Online - Here's What Actually Happens
@DennisReynolds Looking through my game collection, the only PS4 or PS5 game I own to star an undeniably toxic male protagonist is Tekken 7, a game made by a Japanese dev.
Re: Fake Saros PS5 Story Details Are Circulating Online - Here's What Actually Happens
I must be missing something here, because to me, this seems no different to the ending of Braid, and people seem to love that ending.
Re: Fake Saros PS5 Story Details Are Circulating Online - Here's What Actually Happens
@Ambassador_Kong @Ambassador_Kong Name of games ideally
Re: Fake Saros PS5 Story Details Are Circulating Online - Here's What Actually Happens
@Ambassador_Kong How many other Western games rely on the sick icky males in them, because I can't think of any on the top of my head.
