Re: Indie Devs Unfairly Attacked Over Sony Decision to Stop Making Discs

ShadowRJ

@LogicStrikesAgain that is logically the case. The problem comes as follows:

1. Many people don’t like what’s currently on offer

2. Many people believe rightly or wrongly that this decision can be reversed.

3. The chances of this going away anytime soon is low

4. Sony could at least TRY and smooth things over, rather than sticking their head in the sand

@ButteredCrumpet yeah, I won’t deny that there are likely troublemakers and idiots involved in the protest. Like you said, every protest has them. People who don’t believe in the cause and are just looking for trouble, and people who don’t know enough about the topic but yell anyway.

It’s important to try and separate the two, but call me naive, but I haven’t seen too many troublemakers yet (aside from the guy who’s annoyed that PS Plus wasn’t physical).

Re: This Wolverine PS5 Trailer Is Going to Sell a Lot of Copies This Holiday

ShadowRJ

@The_Jobbo first of all, I don’t see why they can’t allow boutique publishers to make discs for games that can be run via optional drive.

Second of all, there’s no reason why the PS5 shouldn’t continue to receive discs.

Third of all. This is absolutely a relevant place to discuss it. Anything PlayStation related is an appropriate place to post the most damaging thing Sony can possibly do to game collecting.

I know that people are tired of hearing people moan about this, but for people like me, the internet is the only place we can moan at. What’s the alternative? Let all this emotion bubble up in our heads?

@Oram77 then by all means, roll your eyes. Your opinion is just as valid as mine (unless you’re secretly a serial murderer). Just note that I’m unlikely to stop speaking about this topic where I can, because it’s important to me.

I do try and get involved in discussions about the games itself. I went on about Kingdom Hearts during that post. Just in this case, I didn’t have anything else to say.

Re: Claims Sony Has Disabled YouTube Comments Over Physical Disc Backlash Are Not True

ShadowRJ

@BentIeyma I think what people are looking for at this stage is a response that doesn’t come across as corporate coldness.

That initial blog post was so cold, so in personal, and downright insulting in how it was written. I think the first thing people want is a response with more humanity to it, one that’s more open, and one that does not seem designed to irate its most hardcore audience.

Now the issue there is that are Sony in a position to do that. The anger isn’t going to go away. It may simmer down for a while, but it will return every time big news comes out. It’s a tricky position for Sony to be in, but I hope Sony just don’t ignore the backlash, and respond in some form.

Re: Irate PlayStation Fans Want You to Buy Games Anywhere But PS5

COMMUNICATION COMMUNICATION COMMUNICATION

That is what is needed right now, but Sony is contempt with staying silent and allowing this mess to continue. Granted the reason why its silent is probably because the plan is for the PS Store to remain a closed ecosystem with no way of converting your discs to digital licenses.

Re: Halo's Physical PS5 Disc Won't Play without a Download

ShadowRJ

@For-Kier that I do agree with. In spite of being one of (if not THE) most vocally supportive of physical on this site, I never once declared I’d move to PC, because it’s unlikely that I will. I suspect many will either begrudgingly move to PS6 or at best, move to Switch 2.

Re: Halo's Physical PS5 Disc Won't Play without a Download

ShadowRJ

@Ernimus_Prime I will concede that I have bought games like this. Not Halo, but I do have Doom the Dark Ages on disc.

To me, yes, having to download the game isn’t ideal, but since a digital download is exactly the same, I don’t see it as inherit plus for digital downloads either, so why not get the disc.

I also like my games to be physical-ised in some way. It makes it feel more important.

Re: Halo's Physical PS5 Disc Won't Play without a Download

ShadowRJ

@Bettyswollocks Two reasons. One, this has not been how games have been for years. It’s been how SOME games have been, but not all.

Two, Microsoft have developed a reputation for this. Way too many of their games have had his issue, many of them being made after the game already had a finished build, so there’s no excuse that they’ve been working until the deadline.

Re: Halo's Physical PS5 Disc Won't Play without a Download

ShadowRJ

@Dogbreath I accepted that explanation when it came to games like Doom the Dark Ages and Indiana Jones. However Microsoft did this with Oblivion remastered too. That disc came out months after the game came out digitally, so there’s no reason why there shouldn’t be a complete build on the disc.
