We're at an interesting point now where game consoles are coming out faster than brand new games do. I'll no doubt be buying it because I'm an enthusiast, but I think Sony will need some killer marketing in order to convince people that the jump in power is going to lead to significant results.
Better late than never. It took its time, but Yooka Laylee finally got there, and I think Replaylee will go down as a remake that took a flawed game, and chiselled down those edges to end up with the game the original was always trying to be.
It was okay. Saros looks cool, excited to see what Insomniac does with Wolverine. The most hyped thing I’ve seen though would probably be the Deus Ex remaster. I’ve only played the PS2 version of that game, so I hope this new version includes all the stuff that port was missing.
@carlos82 CTR NF has a lot more detail going in on it, and as good as it was, you can't really compare a big budget first party Nintendo game to one of Activision's side projects.
There's many reasons to be sceptical about the show, but not starring Cristopher Judge isn't one of them. Remember that he wasn't even the first actor to play the role.
I know some of us connoisseurs may not be into GTA (myself included, the controls suck), but I cannot see a world where GTA6 doesn't blow every single sales record away.
According to the Insomniac leak, the only first party games to have more digital sales than physical (if I’m remembering correctly) were Ghost of Tsushima and MLB the show (maybe Death Stranding Directors Cut too)
@Judal27 I get where you’re coming from, but I always viewed it more like Burnout Paradise. The simple act of exploring the map and completing challenges is relaxing to me (though I agree the rewards you get do suck)
This is probably the only time I’m glad a rerelease has made no real improvements to the main games. This collection isn’t about celebrating a beloved franchise, it’s about documented one of the worst franchises of all time, and it should be remembered how terrible it is.
I may be excited or horrified at the idea of another game in this series having an alternative story mode, because I may be begging or mortified about the idea of a certain character’s fate being different.
Not convinced that this multi platform strategy is going to work the way Square is hoping it does. The only FF games to release on Xbox at launch were the FF13 trilogy and FF15. I just don’t think the Xbox platform is home to where the people who are genuinely interested in these remakes are.
I remember reading somewhere that only 30% of The Last of Us Part II Naughty Dog made Uncharted 4. Makes you wonder how many of that Sucker Punch team were part of it during the Infamous days, let alone Sly Cooper
I don’t think it’s really fair to compare the unit sales from the PS4/PS5 era to the PS1 era. How many PS1 games even sold 10 million units? I think Gran Turismo did, but I’m not sure on any others.
Coming from a 100% physical gamer...I think the detachable disc drive does have merit, especially when it comes to replacing components which no longer work.
I’m sorry, but I do not have faith in this working out. A lot about what worked in the Norse Games was that it was a SEQUEL to the Greek series. Sure they can show the Greek series in flashbacks, but it’s not the same thing as going from GOW 3, where Kratos was at his lowest point, to 2018 where he is slowly starting to getting his life back in order
@get2sammyb I feel that people forget that plenty of "complete" PS2 games often had performance dips that would've benefitted from patches to help smooth things out even further.
Not the biggest fan of these games myself, but I’m glad they’re selling great. I can still appreciate that they’re high quality games with a lot of money behind them.
@DennisReynolds True, but what I’m saying is that Capcom didn’t waste time trying to make that awful AWFUL game good. They moved on to better and greater things.
I think this exact situation with Mindseye is an example of one of the biggest problems with modern game development.
Remember back in the PS2 days when Devil May Cry 2 came out? Yeah it sucks, but at least Capcom can leave it be and make something better next time.
Nowadays when a big budget game sucks, we can’t just leave it alone and work on something else, we have to spend ages and ages trying to fix it (usually unsuccessfully)
This isn’t quite the same as The Crew. To the best of my knowledge the game is still playable (just not online) and I’m pretty sure you can still get physical discs for it if you wish.
The sad thing was that the Summer State of Play is one of the better ones, but sadly the damage had already been done. I enjoyed the Summer State of Play, but I wasn’t excited for it when it was announced.
Good Lord, this is crazy. I thought it was bad when Xbox closed down the studio that made their most beloved game in years, but this latest round of layoffs is making closing down Tango look minor. This isn’t closing down a studio that’s been making cult classics, this is effectively killing one of the biggest franchises in all of gaming.
@RawnDawn That’s an understatement I think, it probably would’ve turned out to be a diabolical movie that’s about as annoying as the worst Crash games’ cutscenes
As a guy who considers Persona 4 Og to be in their top five games of all time, the way this game has been revealed to us so far is really disappointing. It got leaked to hell and back before the game was even announced. When we do get an announcement for it, the trailer is abruptly ends before it even starts. And now it looks like it’s going to be ages before we actually see anything significant of it.
The biggest reason I never got a PSVR2 is how much of a pain it is to set up the original the odd time you wanted to play something on it. I love Astro Bot and RE7, but not enough to spend ages fiddling about with the HDMI cables, when I could just play RE7 without VR instead.

Re: Battlefield 6 Is a Smash Hit in First Sales Report, Selling Best on PS5
What do you think the odds are that by the time GTA VII launches (yes VII, not VI), GTA V will STILL be in the top ten?

Re: Worried Fans Can Rest Easy: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Is 'Doing Very Well' on PS5, PC
FF17 can outsell GTA6, and they’d still consider it a disappointment

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (PS5) - PS5's Best Kart Racer Is Robust, Chaotic Fun
@Oram77 It's a PS4 game with no PS5 version. Doesn't count.
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (PS5) - PS5's Best Kart Racer Is Robust, Chaotic Fun
@carlos82 I actually thought that was pretty cool. It was a unique feature that I haven't seen before in a racing game.
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds (PS5) - PS5's Best Kart Racer Is Robust, Chaotic Fun
That subtitle makes me really wants the Sonic R tracks to come back as DLC, with the original soundtrack either remixed or unaltered.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 for me. I’ve finished 1 and 2 for the first time this year, time to make it the hat trick.

90 minutes eh?
The first twenty will be taken up by executives congratulating themselves on the series up to this point.
The next half an hour will be spent on ports of 3 and 4.
Then we'll have news on a movie adaptation of Suikoden 2
Then a bunch of info on the mobile game.
Then the reveal of a Japanese ecvlusive MMO.
Then as a one last thing, Konami will announce that Riou and Jowi will be playable in Fortnite.

Re: PS6 Still Years Away Despite Increase in Next-Gen Chatter
The gaming industry is in a weird place right now, and I feel like for some developers, there's no winning for them.
Try and take full advantage of the PS5's power, you get criticised for taking too long to get the game out.
Game limited to 30fps, you get criticised for the game not running at 60fps.
I don't buy into the "PS5 has no games" narrative, but I do think developers are still struggling on how to best use the machine's superior power.
