Re: Hypothetically, Could Sony Stop Its PS5 Ports from Running on Xbox Helix?

SMJ

PC in a box is the way the industry is heading and personally, I can't wait.

At that point, people can stop arguing over machines and just buy and enjoy whatever games they want. The cream will rise to the top and software will be king.

Whoever has the best library of games (whether it be PlayStation or Xbox) will be the winner.

Re: 'This Should Be Illegal': PS5's Dynamic Pricing Roundly Criticised by Disgusted Sony Fans

SMJ

I don't understand why some people here are defending this. Charging people more for something because they have a history of buying more is an incredible slap in the face to loyal customers.

And for anyone saying "well other industries use dynamic pricing", that's a ridiculous argument. Digital games are an infinite product and Sony doesn't have to deal with stock issues or physical availability.

Disgusting.

Re: Opinion: I Wonder if Xbox Helix Will Force Sony to Break Its PS6 Silence

SMJ

@get2sammyb These are all genuine questions and not intended (nor Super Nintended) to cause an argument.

Do you believe that Xbox will release a console that costs over £1000/$1000?

Do you believe that Sony will release a much less powerful piece of hardware to cut costs?

Do you believe that Microsoft will allow free access to any PC store and therefore negate any revenue?

How long do you believe Sony will want to make PlayStation hardware?

👍

Re: Some PS5 Users Really Are Paying More for Their Games on PS Store Than Others

SMJ

I no longer have a PS+ subscription so I expect to miss out on deals that PS+ subscribers get. This however is a very strange and possibly illegal practise. I'm sure there's a law in the UK where you can't offer exclusive deals to new customers and not existing. I think there was a huge broadband/mobile data court case but I could be wrong.

Re: Opinion: Sony's PC Pullback Is the Right Move for PS5

SMJ

It's a strategy that makes some sense. For now. I still think that more people buying your games makes more sense. And at the moment, the only way for Sony to tie people into their ecosystem is through the Trojan horse of them buying PlayStation consoles.

But once they stop making consoles and need people to access their games via an app/storefront on generic hardware, they'll need to have an existing customer base outside of PlayStation diehard fans.

Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It

SMJ

@Enriesto I suppose the thing for me is, the Demon's Souls remake is one of the highest reviewed PS5 games when it released.

Miyazaki has also said after release that while he hasn't played it, he loved seeing Bluepoint's different take on his team's formula and the fact new players would get to enjoy his work.

It was also a financial success for Sony.

Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It

SMJ

@LogicStrikesAgain I don't believe that buying an excellent port specialist with an incredibly impressive track record, forcing them into a live service game, cancelling that, shuttering the studio whilst ignoring an obvious opportunity to use their talents is wise at all.

I also think that you'll struggle to find many (if any) PlayStation fans who think that closing Bluepoint was a wise idea. Including all of the writers and editors of this site.

Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It

SMJ

@Enriesto Sony could have made the game if they had wanted to and had the perfect studio to do so. It was their decision.

Sony don't seem to be demonstrating that they value relationships this generation so that argument goes out the window.

What would FromSoftware have done if Sony got Bluepoint to make the game?

Stopped releasing games on PlayStation?

No. They would have continued to release their games and made millions doing it.
