PC in a box is the way the industry is heading and personally, I can't wait.
At that point, people can stop arguing over machines and just buy and enjoy whatever games they want. The cream will rise to the top and software will be king.
Whoever has the best library of games (whether it be PlayStation or Xbox) will be the winner.
@TheInfamousGod Because of the facts I've seen in this article, things I have experienced with my own friends and many others who have experienced the things you're denying.
I've pointed this out already but it CLEARLY needs to be said again. Sony is charging more money for players who spend more money digitally and are giving discounts to players who don't spend as much money digitally.
I also find it odd that an article about Sony ripping off its loyal customers (myself included) receives fewer comments than an article about the price of the new Xbox.
@sanderson72 😂 I used to share your opinion on the PS5 design but it has really grown on me over the years. It's still an awkward lump to fit into most entertainment set ups but my cobalt blue cover plates actually make it look quite nice.
@Bez87 Apparently the discounts apply to users who have a low or zero history of buying games digitally. When Sony deems you to be a "big spender" the prices for you go up.
I don't understand why some people here are defending this. Charging people more for something because they have a history of buying more is an incredible slap in the face to loyal customers.
And for anyone saying "well other industries use dynamic pricing", that's a ridiculous argument. Digital games are an infinite product and Sony doesn't have to deal with stock issues or physical availability.
The "PS fandom" as you've decided to label, is the exact group who keeps you in a job Sam. And yet you won't answer simple questions on another thread on the site you control. 🤔
I no longer have a PS+ subscription so I expect to miss out on deals that PS+ subscribers get. This however is a very strange and possibly illegal practise. I'm sure there's a law in the UK where you can't offer exclusive deals to new customers and not existing. I think there was a huge broadband/mobile data court case but I could be wrong.
It's a strategy that makes some sense. For now. I still think that more people buying your games makes more sense. And at the moment, the only way for Sony to tie people into their ecosystem is through the Trojan horse of them buying PlayStation consoles.
But once they stop making consoles and need people to access their games via an app/storefront on generic hardware, they'll need to have an existing customer base outside of PlayStation diehard fans.
I agree with a lot of people here and think that this has been prompted by the fact that the next Xbox and Steam Machine would be able to play PlayStation games.
I said on previous article that I really hope Atari acquire Bluepoint to continue their work the same way that they did with Nightdive and Digital Eclipse. Keep building teams of studios whose expertise is making wonderful ports.
@YeyoFairy I agree 100% my friend. As a huge fan of Bluepoint, I just can't understand why they were closed based on their talent and proven body of work. 😥
@hugoadan They do. But apparently lots of people here believe that Sony decided to close Bluepoint rather than damage a relationship with FromSoftware. 🤔
@Enriesto I suppose the thing for me is, the Demon's Souls remake is one of the highest reviewed PS5 games when it released.
Miyazaki has also said after release that while he hasn't played it, he loved seeing Bluepoint's different take on his team's formula and the fact new players would get to enjoy his work.
@LogicStrikesAgain I don't believe that buying an excellent port specialist with an incredibly impressive track record, forcing them into a live service game, cancelling that, shuttering the studio whilst ignoring an obvious opportunity to use their talents is wise at all.
I also think that you'll struggle to find many (if any) PlayStation fans who think that closing Bluepoint was a wise idea. Including all of the writers and editors of this site.

Re: Metal Gear Solid Delta Already One of the Best-Selling Versions of MGS3
@GirlVersusGame Wow. Only recently seeing Friends and The Simpsons is pretty impressive.
I've never seen a single Star Wars movie yet I absolutely adore the games.
Re: Metal Gear Solid Delta Already One of the Best-Selling Versions of MGS3
@Onearmbandit You're in for treat. I love the series but I'm just not that great at stealth games.
Re: 'Exclusives Are Absolutely Not Happening': Xbox Helix Will Share Library with PS6
@Rich33 Every console is a pre-built PC.
Re: The Until Dawn PS5 Remake Studio Is Officially Gone for Good
@ButterySmooth30FPS And Digital Eclipse.

This is disgusting.
Re: 'This Should Be Illegal': PS5's Dynamic Pricing Roundly Criticised by Disgusted Sony Fans
@iamtheju No. People who have logged in have been charged less than others who have logged in.
Re: 'This Should Be Illegal': PS5's Dynamic Pricing Roundly Criticised by Disgusted Sony Fans
@TheInfamousGod So you agree that people who spend more, are being charged more?
And do you think that's the right thing to do?
Re: 'This Should Be Illegal': PS5's Dynamic Pricing Roundly Criticised by Disgusted Sony Fans
@TheInfamousGod Fair enough. It's been updated. I don't quite understand your point of view though.
Are you saying that none of this is actually happening and everyone needs to stop talking about it?
OR
Are you agreeing that it is happening but that everyone should stop talking about it?
It can't be both.
Re: 'This Should Be Illegal': PS5's Dynamic Pricing Roundly Criticised by Disgusted Sony Fans
@TheInfamousGod It has already been established that the US isn't affected by this therefore your personal experience is irrelevant.
Whereas several people in the regions mentioned have reported it and it happening for them.
I would also say that you needn't pick holes in Sammy's article. This is very much a case of 'don't shoot the messenger '.
Re: 'This Should Be Illegal': PS5's Dynamic Pricing Roundly Criticised by Disgusted Sony Fans
I also find it odd that an article about Sony ripping off its loyal customers (myself included) receives fewer comments than an article about the price of the new Xbox.
Re: 'This Should Be Illegal': PS5's Dynamic Pricing Roundly Criticised by Disgusted Sony Fans
@TheInfamousGod I think several people have proven that people who buy lots of digital games are being charged more than people who buy less.
That's literally the point of this article and the entire story.

I'm very tempted.

Experimentation and smaller games should be commended. As long as they're actually good games.

Re: Opinion: I Wonder if Xbox Helix Will Force Sony to Break Its PS6 Silence
@get2sammyb These are all genuine questions and not intended (nor Super Nintended) to cause an argument.
Do you believe that Xbox will release a console that costs over £1000/$1000?
Do you believe that Sony will release a much less powerful piece of hardware to cut costs?
Do you believe that Microsoft will allow free access to any PC store and therefore negate any revenue?
How long do you believe Sony will want to make PlayStation hardware?
👍

Re: PS5 Players Can Finally Explore This Award-Winning Xbox Gem
I absolutely love this game.
Re: Some PS5 Users Really Are Paying More for Their Games on PS Store Than Others
Why would a lower price show for someone who isn't logged in???
I can kind of understand a difference in price if someone has a PS+ subscription - Game Pass members get specific deals for having that subscription.
But surely not the other way round.
Re: PS6 Competitor from Xbox Revealed as Project Helix

Incredible sales numbers. I'll hold off for a Gold/Deluxe edition though.
Re: FlatOut Fans, Take Heed: Spiritual Successor Trail Out Crashes onto PS5 This Week
I really enjoyed this on Xbox. It's nothing life changing but good, mindless fun.
Re: Opinion: If Sony's Doubling Down on Its Most Popular Franchises, Where's Uncharted?
Uncharted is my favourite series in all of gaming. But to be fair to Sony and Naughty Dog, Nate's story has been fully resolved.
A spin off in the same universe could work but I'm not sure it would have the same impact without Drake and Sully.
Re: Sony Quietly Decided to Scale Back PC Ports Last Year, Insider Claims
There are lots of people here who really seem to be in denial of the way the industry is heading.
I only want physical games.
I only want games to stay on my platform.
I don't want AI involved in game creation.
Unfortunately, the ship has sailed.

Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It
@hugoadan I hate what has happened to Bluepoint.
Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It
I'm here on a thread where people are defending Sony for closing Bluepoint and NOT producing a remake of Bloodborne.
Night night.
Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It
@Yor-sama Your argument is that Sony closed Bluepoint so that they wouldn't damage a relationship with FromSoftware? Is that what you're saying?
Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It
@hugoadan They do. But apparently lots of people here believe that Sony decided to close Bluepoint rather than damage a relationship with FromSoftware. 🤔
Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It
@Yor-sama You genuinely think that Sony are that clever right now?
Also, FromSoftware already said that the Bloodborne remake was entirely in Sony's hands.
I also believe that it would be terrible if Sony fully acquired FS.
Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It
@Enriesto I suppose the thing for me is, the Demon's Souls remake is one of the highest reviewed PS5 games when it released.
Miyazaki has also said after release that while he hasn't played it, he loved seeing Bluepoint's different take on his team's formula and the fact new players would get to enjoy his work.
It was also a financial success for Sony.
Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It
@LogicStrikesAgain Fair enough. Do you believe it was a wise decision to close Bluepoint?
Re: Poll: Are You Playing Resident Evil Requiem?
I have an enormous backlog so will wait for the inevitable gold edition which, hopefully, includes VR2 support (despite what has already been stated).
Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It

Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It
@Yor-sama Are you seriously saying that closing Bluepoint was a wise decision??? What?
Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It
@Scottyy A Resistance, Motorstorm, inFamous or Killzone trilogy from Bluepoint would have been amazing! 😥
Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It
@Enriesto The original makers said several times that the ball was in Sony's court regarding a remake though.
What was the fumble with Demon Souls?
Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It
@Enriesto Sony could have made the game if they had wanted to and had the perfect studio to do so. It was their decision.
Sony don't seem to be demonstrating that they value relationships this generation so that argument goes out the window.
What would FromSoftware have done if Sony got Bluepoint to make the game?
Stopped releasing games on PlayStation?
No. They would have continued to release their games and made millions doing it.
Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It
@Enriesto Sony own the rights. FromSoftware had no say in the matter of a remake.
Re: Shuttered Dev Bluepoint Wanted to Remake Bloodborne, FromSoftware Blocked It
Sony completely own the rights to Bloodborne so there's nothing that FromSoftware could have done to block a remake.
So they have obviously decided that (despite having the perfect studio ready and waiting) they didn't want the remake.
Such a poor decision all round.
