Re: Poll: How Much Are You Willing to Pay for PS5?

Porkfiend

@Constable_What exactly...must suck to have such ***** internet in this day and age that games take hours to download!

between my 200MB uncapped internet and a big external drive, digital is far far more convenient than physical.

and I love how the physical peasants always exaggerate the price differences and always fail to mention that PSN credit can easily be purchased at anything up to 25% less than its value.

but even disregarding if I had circa 2000 internet speeds and apparently tiny hard drives, there is no way I'd be up and down like a muppet swapping discs as if CDs have just been invented again.

Closing this account now and browsing the articles only in future - too many I'll informed gamers who all seem to be poor, have crap internet and like messing around with discs.

Reply all you want - I won't be reading them hahahahaha

Re: Talking Point: Could PS5 Be Delayed?

Porkfiend

@OlosNah Series S at £249 was a real shock to me, it's often $=£ conversion here.

With Series X more or less leaked at $499 now, I'd assume that would mean £450 here and Sony couldn't afford to price PS5 at more than that. If they matched, then the PS5 Digital Edition would have be to £400 max, perhaps even £375 or best case £350.

Super value, all of them, to be honest.

Re: Talking Point: Could PS5 Be Delayed?

Porkfiend

@blacklivesmatter If they'd launched last year, it would have been a far weaker console - they wouldn't have had the Zen 2 CPU, the Navi GPU and any SSD woudn't have been anywhere near the crazy speed they've now got.

PC space is always evolving and was always going to exceed console specs sooner or later. It's a different market anyway - I don't believe many people who would buy a next-gen console would opt instead for what would be a far more expensive PC set-up (with the new cards you're referring to, anyway).

I used to be a PC game but just CBA with it these days, and that's even with all the piracy making games effectively free if you know what you're doing and where to look. Much prefer my console gaming.

Re: Talking Point: Could PS5 Be Delayed?

Porkfiend

Can't see a Japanese company launching in the US before their own market.

This talk of delays is for the birds. The media are getting so short of news and so wound up in their own bubbles that this kind of article is inevitable. And apart from anything else it guarantees loads of clicks, even with the obligatory question mark at the end of the shock headline.

Re: PlayStation Launches New PS5 Game Pages on Official Website

Porkfiend

@InvaderJim because 'Late 2020' is the correct description for a November launch in the UK, and indeed in most of the world. What does 'holiday 2020' mean here in the UK when we don't have a November holiday, or any holidays between now and Xmas? It would just confuse the matter even more, although that's getting harder to do now with how confusing these pre-launches already are!

Re: PlayStation Store Essential Picks Sale Discounts Some of PS4's Best Games

Porkfiend

@gmxs Easy to buy the psn credit at up to 25% discount though... pretty much wipes out any difference most of the time. Plus, I could pick out games that are far cheaper on PSN if I wanted to.

Anyway, the convenience of not messing around swapping discs like a muppet for the next seven or eight years would be worth it to me anyway, whatever the price difference! PS5 digital edition all the way for me come November!

Re: PS5 Doesn't Have an Optical Audio Port

Porkfiend

The easiest route to ensure you get the highest quality audio and avoid audio lag is to do it 'the other way around' - that is, get a decent soundbar or receiver with multiple HDMI inputs that can handle all the raw audio and also pass through 4K HDR video signals to the TV-out.

I have a Yamaha YSP-2700, it has 3 HDMI inputs that you can plug your 4K or other devices and then a single HDMI output to the TV.

You can still use ARC as well if you have other stuff connected to the TV, but I currently don't need it. Toslink, or optical audio, is pretty much done now imo. It'd be like asking for SCART sockets again!

Re: Hitman 3 Dated for 20th January, Free Digital PS5 Upgrade Available

Porkfiend

@WallyWest Hitman 2 only has Hitman 1 levels if you already own some form of Hitman 1 in the first place! Still good though, because you get to incorporate them into one package with the improved engine and gameplay additions. I imagine 3 will let you do the same if you already own 1 and/or 2. IO are one of the good guys.

Re: PS5 Price and Release Date Rumour Is Making Headlines in Japan

Porkfiend

@deSade57 who pays full price on digital stores though?? easy to get discounted PSN credit, and I'm sure most digital buyers do so...I hunt around and with patience it's possible to stock up on credit with up to 25% off. That makes a £55 PSN game £41. I accept the point about trading in, but not the one about comparing headline prices.

No way I'm going to ***** around swapping discs in this day and age!

Re: Sony Stresses, One More Time, That PS5 Will Release This Year

Porkfiend

We shouldn't have to wait too much longer for price. If you work backwards, could they realistically go into October without having revealed the price? I don't think so. I would say middle of September is the latest they could dare to go to!

So three or so weeks to wait at most.....hopefully!

Re: Hitman 3 Adds Murder Mystery in English Countryside to Level Line-Up

Porkfiend

Looks amazing, I'm expecting IO to give us all a free upgrade on Hitman 1 and 2 for PS5 next year too...just because they're one of the decent devs and you only have to look at the upgrades they did for PS4 Pro and then the bump in detail and features they introduced for the legacy thing. Can't wait for this one.

Re: New PS5 Advert Officially Revealed

Porkfiend

@themcnoisy I don't think they'll want to go over £500 unless they're certain that MS is (hence this price non-reveal silliness) so I'm going for £499 and £429 for digital edition, possibly even £399.

Re: PS5 Launch Is a 'Massive Challenge on Every Front'

Porkfiend

IMO It's gonna be £499, and £399 for digital edition. They'll take that bigger hit because they can recoup that over the years in digital purchases, and also because they need to make the price difference enticing enough, and it's a positive for them to be able to say those keywords 'from £399' in all their advertising.

Re: 505 Games Attempts to Explain Control's PS5 Upgrade Scandal

Porkfiend

@majklpetr Indeed. It will simply encourage more people to do what I generally do with games now, and delay their purchase in the first place and wait for the fairly swift sale reductions on PSN and/or the inevitable 'complete' edition. Ergo, it'll lose them money in the long run.
