It’s all under construction GIFs and aggressive UIs in Hypnospace Outlaw, a 90s Internet simulator set to release on the PlayStation 4 from 27th August. The title – which is already available on PC – will ship with the Hypnospace Plus update, which includes 75 additional pages to explore, new HypnOS themes and games, and a whopping two hours of additional audio.

For those confused by the premise, here’s an explanation of the gameplay: “Hypnospace Outlaw is a 90s Internet simulator in which you scour Hypnospace’s wide variety of weird and wonderful websites to hunt down wrongdoers, while also keeping an eye on your inbox, avoiding viruses and adware, and downloading a plethora of apps that may or may not be useful.”

The blurb continues: “As part of your job as a Hypnospace Enforcer, you’ll be watching out for copyright infringement, Internet bullying and more, with reports and rewards coming direct from the Hypnospace Patrol Department to your inbox. In your spare time, you can customize your HypnOS desktop however you see fit.”

As someone who ran their own Game Boy Advance website on Geocities, this release really appeals. We’ll endeavour to bring you a full review at launch, because we have a real soft spot for MIDI soundtracks and animated Word Art.
