PGA Tour 2K21 came mightily close to leaving its competition in the dirt last week as the only new entry in the UK sales chart hit the green in the number two spot. It couldn't conquer the cutesy might of Nintendo Switch exclusive Animal Crossing: New Horizons, but the rare appearance of a golfing title in the United Kingdom's top 10 must surely be considered a success for publisher 2K. EA Sports UFC 4 was last week's victor, although it now finds itself in third while Ghost of Tsushima waves goodbye to another slot in fifth place.
Of course, FIFA 20 and Grand Theft Auto V still take up two positions, but it's the appearance of Marvel's Spider-Man in ninth which becomes another talking point. GamesIndustry.biz notes that a couple of PlayStation 4 exclusives had a successful sales week as Days Gone jumped to 13th place and God of War found itself in 24th. Not too bad for a handful of titles that are all at least a year old.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 22nd August 2020

I wonder whether the furore (storm in a tea cup) over the Avengers game and people preparing for Miles Morales and the launch of the PS5 raised the games profile again?
@SirAngry That Or All Of This Talk About Batman And DC Got The Marvel Fans Fired Up.
@SirAngry
I actually started over again after being disappointed by The Avengers beta but still wanting to get a Marvel video game fix. Miles Morales, even as a 'smaller' stand alone game is higher on my list right now than any other superhero game, Marvel or DC, because I trust Insomniac to get it right. Sadly these other ones are falling into the co-op, games as a service nonsense.
"It couldn't conquer the cutesy might of Nintendo Switch exclusive Animal Crossing: New Horizons"
And in ten years, when all consoles will be equally unable to exceed reality, nothing will.
@SirAngry I'd guess Sony's silence about the PS5 is partially a factor, many people would've expected to be able to preorder the PS5 by now but with no signs of more info soon people are picking up PS4 games while they wait.
@Grumblevolcano
Sony have no incentive to reveal the price. PS5 will sell like hotcakes even if they only reveal the price a month before launch.
Anything below $550 and its won the holiday and even moreso due to the pandemic
Who the heck is still buying GTA V??? No wonder Rockstar are in no hurry at all to develop another GTA, and are quite happy to bring it out yet again on another gen next year.
The fact that Spider-Man is back in the top 10 after two years bodes well for Miles Morales.
@Porkfiend I know right. I've asked that question three years ago. I've given up at this point. At this point I'm positive Rockstar is just buying those copies to keep the game in the top 10.
@Octane that was my first thought as well, and one of the reasons behind my initial comment. A two year old exclusive popping into the charts again on a 7 year old system that's about to be made obsolete? Yeah, maybe Spiderman Miles Morales will make a bigger sales splash than I thought.
@SirAngry Think it because a lot of shops put Spider-man on sale last week.
Days Gone was also put on sale in Game and Curries.
@SirAngry Yeah, it's already one of the best selling PS4 exclusives. Whilst I doubt Miles Morales can beat that number, it's still going to do bonkers regardless.
@Octane I know, I'm well aware of the games sales heroics already, which is why it's got me pondering why it crept back into the charts again. If it has been on sale again in stores in the UK that might explain it partly. However, I do wonder whether the talk of Spiderman in the Avengers game and Miles Morales as a PS5 launch game might have convinced some to finally take the plunge. I doubt the WB Games Gotham Knights or Suicide Squad announcements will have done anything, given they're after most of these sales would have been recorded. Nor do I think the lack of PS5 price or release date would have had an impact, normally consumers reign in spending when there's uncertainty.
I'm enjoying 2k21 but it's not saving any stats, I'm especially gutted as I had a hole in one in Q school qualifying in my third round.
No Fast and Furious Crossroads in the top ten? I am shook lol
