Sony's hardly going to say anything different, but it sounds very confident in PlayStation 5's early software line-up.
SIE's global head of marketing Eric Lempel has been talking to GamesIndustry, mostly about the brand new PS5 advertisement, but he goes on to tease what sounds like a great first few weeks for early adopters. "Once you get beyond all of the features of the PlayStation 5, which makes it a true next-generation product, it's about the content," Lempel says. He feels the games coming in the launch window and beyond is "incredibly exciting", going so far as to say it's "the best line-up that we've ever seen in the history of PlayStation". That includes software from first party PlayStation Studios teams as well as third party publishers.
Of course, we know about some of the games coming to PS5 already. Sony delivered a very strong showing in its Future of Gaming presentation, giving us our first glimpses of games like Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Horizon Forbidden West. Lempel promises there's "more to come", while marketing vice president Mary Yee tells us to keep our "eyes peeled" for more PS5 info in the coming weeks.

Launch “window” sounds very vague. I wanna know what’s available on launch DAY!
Sony, take my money already!!!!!!
@Nightcrawler71 perhaps it's first 6 months once you can just casually go to a store and get one. I've had my PS4 pre-order cancelled by the retailer back in the days.
The two titles sound nice in combination with updated PS4 games. I sure hope cyberpunk and Tsushima get updated on launch day but strongly doubt it.
other than spiderman expansion, i dont think there will be any noteworthy next gen exclusive games until march 2021 (ratchet and clank and demon's souls remake may launch by then?). this is nothing new with consoles though, so why would ps5 be any different? i'll likely wait until fall 2021 when forbidden west launches before i pick one up.
This thing is going to break the internet when it finally goes live.
Start taking orders now so we do not end in a ***** 🤦♂️
That statement sounds just a bit 'Microsofty' to me, but based on what we've seen so far, it looks like they can actually back it up.
@Nightcrawler71 I don’t know how they define the “launch window” but for me, if it’s not out by Christmas it’s not launch window.
And so far, only appealing exclusive is Miles in that window. Maybe also Kena, but I can play that on PS4.
I will say, though, Cyberpunk, Watch Dogs Legion and Assassins Creed Valhalla, if talking non-exclusives, are great launch titles. Then again: Cyberpunk will basically be backwards compatible until next year.
Give Demon Souls on launch day and it's a wrap, The Souls community will be buying the console just for the game
Yup... Just release demon souls day one.
Automatically best launch ever, even if that's the only game available lol
@Kefka2589 Yep, that resolution bump on Cyberpunk and increased detail or whatever is enough for me on Day 1!
@Tharsman Agree.
For me, "launch window" is nov/dec 2020.
With that on mind, i don't see how this could be THE BEST line-up on PS history...
Maybe Sony is hiding a big shadow drop for Xmas?
That’s all cool, just want to know what games for release date really.
Release window can mean the first 3 to 6 months now a days.
I'll need a 2nd job if they launch this soon! Sooo many games I wanna try in launch window. Plus I'm a sucker for playing older games with enhanced or upgraded visuals. I'm in a backlog and I'll keep on backlogging! And horizon is the biggie for me. HZD blew me away current gen and Aloy want more!
@Makina doubt we will get anything big by Christmas. I mean, even if, why not announce it from the start? It was clear Xbox biggest gun was going to be Halo. Sony had no strategic value in delaying a big announcement to counter anything from MS.
There is some logic on holding next-year announcements, since MS can potentially have big titles for next year, though.
Honestly, at this point the only possible viable big announcements for this year would be TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima PS5 optimizations with higher res and raytracing. Either that or another Lost Legacy esque title, but only viably from a studio that releases their title 2 years ago.
God of War: Lost Legacy type game?
But seriously, I see any big announcement right now to be mostly focused on their long-term strategy than launch window.
Not from what we've seen so far unless they're cheating and including cross gen games, I remember the PS3's being pretty good but so far this seems to be a Spider-Man spinoff and Bugsnax
unless they're hiding a few rabbits up sleeves, this is a damning statement about other PS launches than anything else. i've only had a PS3 (didn't buy it at launch), and a PS4 (launch line-up was completely forgettable).. but so far i don't have that much enthusiasm for what's currently suspected about launch.
I'll still be playing Cyberpunk 2077.
@Tharsman
>Sony had no strategic value in delaying a big announcement to counter anything from MS.
Well, the PS5 reveal was back on june. Maybe Sony was holding back something to counter Halo Infinite reveal... At that point they didn't know the game would be delayed.
idk, it could be a unannounced 3º party deal or maybe is just Demon's being a launch title...
@Makina Miles Morales gameplay would be a good counter to start with, still all we seek is a single screenshot. Maybe they feel the unforgiving audience that ripped on Halo will also rip on the current state of the game.
As for Demon, I don’t even expect that to come next year, given they gave us no year for that.
Is this like those stores that had their grand opening banners and decorations kept up for many years?
“Launch window” is vague. That’s 1.
2 - from what we know so far it must mean they have massive massive massive announcements to come because so far we are miles from a place that statement can be true.
3- the price still needs to be right
Knack 3 confirmed!
Actually, unlike Microsoft, I think Sony would NOT say this were it not true. They don't need to overpromise and overhype. I'm confident they will deliver and that this lineup will blow away previous generations (which really isn't terribly hard, tbh, given prior launch lineups — with the possible exception of PS1's).
Hahahahahaha!
@Tharsman
Launch window is generally the 6 months period following the console launch date.
@Chryssy75 I don’t think I ever seen anyone consider that the “launch window” before, but under that I guess Halo is a launch title after all....
I swear if a sony made silent hill game turns up for launch ill just lose it
So . . . The Legend of Dragoon remastered?
Or . . . Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory?
Or . . . Final Fantasy VII: Remake Part 2?!
LOL, I'm just kidding. I'm sure whatever surprises they have for the launch window will be great! Still, seeing any of what I listed would make me very excited indeed. Nevertheless, there's already several games they've announced that make me want to buy a PS5 — regardless of whether they're launch window games or not. (namely Horizon II, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Gran Turismo 7). All in all I'm very excited (and eager) for more news!
Aside from the games that are launching with the PS5, Sony has a beautiful line up for the upcoming 'launch window's through next year which is extremely important. When I first got my PS3 the launch line up was OKAY but definitely was lackluster, then PS4 came along with much BETTER launch titles & launch window titles! Seeing how PS5 dev kits have been in the hands of devs well over a year now & the fact the systems architecture is somewhat similar to PS4 (thanks to AMD) I think the PS5 will have the BEST launch lineup in terms of quality games that take advantage of the systems new feature set! Either way I'm extremely excited for PlayStation 5! Earlier this week when I found out that those articles that suggested the PS4 was struggling with 4K/60FPS were completely fabricated by some dude who was upset with the bad press of the XSX I was just blown away man. It's awesome to see the devs themselves come out and say, 'this is NOT the case in fact we're hitting 4K/75FPS without optimization, so those articles are lying' that was pretty cool. Happy gaming!
Lol. It looks that good I probably won’t bother picking one up until mid next year.
Ok, SONY, cmon and show us some big boom? I'm waiting more than year to be excited about PS5. Right now I still don't know UI, price, backward compatibility of ps3, ps2, psx (the most important thing for me), release date. I've seen a few average game trailers most of which will be later after release of console, confusing design, not so clear technical specifications and overall marketing failure. You act as one eyed king among blind.
@Kefka2589 I was thinking along those line too, but I just don't think I could wait until the 'full' upgrade of Cyberpunk at some point next year...I'd just end up playing it on my Pro, and I feel that this is a next gen game really!
Where are you Gran Turismo 7 with full VR support?
Awesome news. Take my money and give me the best console and games ever.
Hopefully they'll elaborate soon because right now it looks incredibly lacklustre. Ratchet and Gran Turismo arriving early doors should sort things out though
@bbq_boy Same here! I usually wait a few years for brand new games to drop to $20-$30 or cheaper before buying, then I try to play the oldest games first.
Sometimes that doesn't always work out though...I still from time to time pay full price for games I get really hyped up for.
Btw I love your PushSquare avatar, is that Sasuke?
@KidBoruto not sure where I got the avatar from! I was watching so much anime back then its all become a blue now yeah I'm the same I love games on sale! But there might be the odd game that gets me to fork out fill price.
@bbq_boy If that's not Sasuke from the Naruto franchise, I'd love to find out who he is.
Do you still watch much anime? I started collecting anime on Blu-Ray awhile ago, but never have the time to commit to a series or even a movie >_<.
