Persona Annual Franchise SEGA

It doesn't come as a huge surprise, but SEGA reportedly wants Atlus to pump out a new Persona release every year. This is according to well-known leaker Midori, who claims that the publisher now places the Persona series alongside Like a Dragon and Sonic as one of its big three.

Really, it's testament to how far Persona has come, but there will no doubt be concerns over these potential plans. After all, we're only a few years removed from Persona releases being something of a rarity — and now, at times, it can feel like the property is being squeezed dry.

To be clear, this doesn't mean we'll be getting a new, mainline Persona title every 12 months — but we're already seeing the series branch out into all kinds of spinoffs. The reality of the situation is that Persona 5 was a smash hit, and SEGA will want to draw from that success as often as possible.

The much more recent Persona 3 Reload is a prime example of the property's upwards trajectory, breaking sales records despite dropping during an incredibly busy release schedule earlier this year.

How do you feel about this? Would you be okay with being handed a new Persona game every year? What level of quality would you expect? Eagerly await Persona 5 Tactica 2 in the comments section below.
