Re: Sony's Stealth Released a New PS4 Pro Model, and It's Quieter

NathanUC

I feel like I'm the only one with a quiet launch edition PS4 Pro... I've only heard it a few times when on the map of HZD ( where the framerate gets unlocked for some reason). I hear some people referring it to a jet, but the last time I've heard a console sound like a jet was my brothers early model Xbox 360. I heard that thing through headphones.

Re: Hitman 2 Has a Whopping 118 Trophies to Unlock

NathanUC

@naruball trophies are just part of a game. Im saying that calling video game trophies pointless is a slippery slope. Video games are for enjoyment and many people find enjoyment in trophies. same with multiplayer, crafting, leveling up, grinding, leaderboards, etc.

Just because I don't like leaderboards doesn't mean I think they are pointless and have no value.

Re: Hitman 2 Has A Whopping 118 Trophies to Unlock

NathanUC

@Tsurii If SOMETHING adds enjoyment to a groups of players, surely it has value to those players.

Trophies are entertainment as well. Dig deep enough and you can invalidate the entire video game/movie industry with that mindset.

GAMES OR MOVIES DON'T MAKE MY MUSCLES BIGGER OR MY BELLY MORE FULL SO THEY ARE POINTLESS AND HAVE NO VALUE

Re: Soapbox: Publishers Want You to Pay to Play Early, And It's a Worry

NathanUC

I would absolutely NEVER pay extra for the sole reason of playing early. Not even for a new EDF or Monster Hunter game.

If anything, I"m far less likely to buy a special version of game if it offers an early release. This is a stupid practice.

Look at it this way, you're either paying extra to beta test or the dev is purposely being anti-consumer and holding their game longer than needed.

Re: Player Data Paints Damning Picture of Telltale's Efforts

NathanUC

I didn't really care too much for them. I bought into the hype and played through the original Walking Dead one, but didn't find it nearly as compelling as most reviews indicated. I assumed it was because I don't care for the walking dead.

The Game of Thrones one was a bit better, but I still felt like I was playing it just to finish it.

The stories aren't deep enough to keep me to care and the gameplay/decisions aren't nearly good enough to keep me entertained.

Re: Poll: Do We Still Need Review Scores?

NathanUC

The Push Square scoring system is fair enough that I find a lot of use in it. For games I don't really care much about, I can quickly check if it's even worth reading (5+). Otherwise, I wouldn't even both to click/read. There have been a few games that scored much higher than I expected, so I read the review, got the game, and loved it.

I think the 'problem' with many other site scores is they are essentially 1-7 = bad. 8-9 good. 10 = 'paid' review.

Re: Skyrim VR Is PlayStation VR's Most Played Game

NathanUC

@IKILLUM1NATI I'd agree that those are all good games, but Skyrim VR is certainly an amazing VR game and well deserving of the #1 spot in my opinion. The only fault I can find with Skyrim VR is the sound design.

I'm sure the next iteration of PSVR will have much better tracking and peripherals. The PS4 wasn't really ready VR. It's amazing what they've been able to do with it considering the limitations. I'd still take a PSVR over any other VR ecosystem.

Re: Skyrim VR Is PlayStation VR's Most Played Game

NathanUC

Skyrim VR (to me) still feels like one of the only games that fully embraced the platform. RE7 is another great example.

There are plenty of other fantastic games, but for me, there's almost always a "..but" involved. The Persistence is great... but the controls are terrible for VR. GT Sport is amazing fun... but a ton of content is locked out of the VR modes. Job Simulator is funny.. but it's charm only lasts a couple hours.

Re: Streaming Devices Will Kill Traditional Consoles Within the Next 10 Years, Says EA

NathanUC

10 years sounds like a long time, but I'm not so sure we'll have the infrastructure to do seamless game streaming in 10 years (at least not in the USA).

Average speeds have only gone from about 5mpbs to 19mbps, and that's just at the consumer level. There are issues at the data center layer as well. Even with my fiber-to-home gigabit connection, I'm not getting good streaming experiences with PS Now. It's still full of latency and lag making many games unplayable.

I still expect to own a console in 10 years, I still expect to own a home computer/laptop in 10 years, and I also expect the internet to be a much worse place in 10 years if the current FCC trends continue.

Re: Guide: Best Metal Gear Solid Games Ranked

NathanUC

MGS 3 > MGS 1 > MGS4 > PW > MGS 2 > Rising > MG2 > MG1 > V > GZ

Anyone can say whatever they want, but MGS3 is easily the best. MGS1 was groundbreaking and amazing for it's time, but I still think MGS3 is easily the strongest in the series. It's one of the best games ever made.
