Capcom's released a new music track from Devil May Cry 5, and well... We've struggled to find anyone saying anything positive about it. After the success of Devil Trigger -- the battle theme from announcement trailer -- it feels as though the developer's really missed the mark with this new song. Devil Trigger, by the way, has almost 13 million total views on YouTube, across both the official version and one that's on a fan channel.
This new track, titled Subhuman, has only just been published, but it's sitting at 980 likes and 1,100 dislikes at the time of writing. There are over 1,000 comments on it as well, and you've got to scroll a long way before you find one that's reasonably happy. And yes, this is apparently the music that accompanies Dante during combat.
As for what we think, well, we don't want to be mean, but it's frankly absolutely abysmal and we wish that we'd never seen the video.
But hey, let us know if you like having your ears assaulted in the comments section below.
Update: The video has been pulled from YouTube, and it's not entirely clear why. If you didn't get a chance to see it, then consider yourself lucky.
Update 2: Capcom has revealed why the video was taken down. You can read about it through here.

The video is the worst thing ive seen in the while. I can see this being played while Dante is wrecking Demons though
Oh, that's terrible.
OK so the video itself was crap BUT the song was fine for a battle song, i don't see the problem
I'm sure it won't be quite as bad when you're playing the game, but man do I wish I'd never seen the video. Ruined forever.
As a proper metalhead...it's not good, deathcore is the cringiest scene within the metal landscape and I don't understand why Capcom felt they needed to go for that sound for THE MOST POPULAR CHARACTER IN THE FRANCHISE!
Vocals and mix ruin it for me. Vocals are way too loud in the mix and that draws out all the shortcomings of his singing. A more balanced mix would have gone a long way imo.
Song still sucks tho
I thought it was alright actually, the mix is off sure ... and the vid, yeah that’s a bit cringe.
You what’s really off though? Calling something “abysmal” when you mean “I don’t like it”. It’s not unique nowadays I grant you, but they are very different things.
whats really terrible is that the lyrics and the actual guitar mix isn't bad. It's just the vocal for this.... deathmetal grunge does not fit at all.
Yeah it's not so bad, like it's pretty cringe, but DMC is hammy as hell. Could work fine, a bit quieter with all the sound effects and combo meters blowing up the screen.
I personally wish games would mix battle themes up a bit more. Why the same song over and over again? It's worse in a lot of RPGs. Persona is a good example of that.
@Bezzator Nah, it's abysmal.
Not sure what people really expected. It's DMC and for me that means ott fights, massive swords and god awful sounding metal. I can't think of any other type of music that would fit with this franchise.
Raised By Owls should have been approached to do ALL the music for DMC5

The video is horrible but this is legit the same horrible crap that plays during battle scenes in every dmc game so i don’t see the problem
YOU CANNOT KILL MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Guh, my ears.
I'm not a massive metal guy, but DMC's music is usually something I can get down with because it fits the action. This I can't even see jamming to as a battle theme. Probably should have remixed "Taste The Blood" or something.
Definitely a disappointment after "Devil Trigger", which sounds and fits DMC much better.
Where's my boi Shootie HG?
I was expecting this to be alright and that everyone was exaggerating. But nope, it actually is really bad.
@b1ackjack_ps A collaboration with Jamie and Tetsuya Shibata would've been heaven. Maybe throw in Mick Gordon too.
wow.thats horrible.wtf is this.worst music i heard in a long time.word up son
I came in with an open mind but that really is bad.
It sounds like standard screaming metal to me. Didn't actually watch the video to not cloud my judgment on the song. But yeah, I don't really like this genre at all, sound bad, not worse than others like it though
The mix is definitely bad, but I've also definitely heard a lot worse! Anyone remember "Crazy Chocobo" from Final Fantasy XIII-2, lol?

So Korny.
Oh gosh no. A terrible idea. It’s too much. Metal goes with DMC, but previous games have had better music. It’d trying too hard. And the video is pretty bad. Please Capcom, do this right.
@dark_knightmare2 The past devil may cry OSTs were at least tolerable. This is just unpleasant
I was never a big fan of the series OST (taste the blood is awesome tho) but those battle themes were at least tolerable. This is just bad. Like painfully bad. I hope they make a new theme cuz I dont know how the flock they went from devil trigger to this
I'm a pretty big fan of metal, but... Oooof... No. Just no.
This is just pathetic.
Devils Never Cry, Never Surrender, Devil Trigger. Those are great.
They need something more akin to Devils Never Cry. Not this. Just.... Ugh.
They just deleted the video. Holy ****.
The video's been pulled, not exactly sure why. If it comes back I'll add it in so you can all see how bad it is.
@ShogunRuk Its just as expected. Not sure what they will say about it in TGS though. I will give it a chance if there's some proper context behind the song that relates to Dante. But nonetheless, vocals what ruined it. The instrumentals were mediocre but kinda sounds fun during fights.
I was also wondering why show this before TGS. Is it to test the waters? Or are they assured this will hype fans? Without a gameplay to accompany it, its just outright bad.
@ShogunRok to be fair it sounds a lot better here in the trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKp1Hy0pjtw&t=0sg
