I'm not a fan of the new PS button behavior. I preferred it being a native 1:1 map of the PS button. I still hate the touch pad mapping too. I do endgame FFXIV content on mine all the time though.. that's a fairly major endorsement on latency/performance of the device.
Very cool. I'm still asking for them to allow the touch screen controls to change for the touch pad though. Double tapping the screen to replicate a tap on the touchpad is super annoying. It makes using the virtual mouse in games like FFXIV near impossible.
I still really want them to release a Portal Pro... OLED screen with 6Ghz wifi support. As much as I love/use mine... the wifi chip in them is subpar and at least with my robust home network... unreliable. I had to split off a single AP to only broadcast it's own SSID for ONLY the Portal. I still use my Steam Deck and Windows laptop for PS5 streaming on my regular SSID without any issues.
I never played FF7 original. I REALLY liked Remake but really don't like Rebirth. I want to, but it's just feels so much like a bunch of chores. I just want to do the story, I don't want to play some of these tedious mini-games. I'm on chapter 10, but it's a slog. I love the combat though.
Layered weapons are a MUST. I really don't like the look of most Artisan weapons... Personally, I wish they'd 'buff' more of the R8 weapons to have more lv3 slots. The Artisan ones WAY outshine the rest of the R8 in too many cases because of these slots.
The audio quality of Patapon 1 remaster was pretty bad by todays standards... enough that I never finished it. It sounds similar in the very short clip they posted here which is a shame. Some sort of AI upscaling would have gone a long way.
@DennisReynolds yeah it's cool in theory but just feels janky to me. If the attacks felt like they actually connected when they should, it would be a cool fight. I also don't know if it's intentional, but his frenzy blight doesn't get removed by HH ailments/blight negated
@ShogunRok for sure. I've maxed the camera speed as high as I can tolerate and it's still not enough. Could be a skill issue as well, but I also feel like a lot of the animations don't line up with hit boxes correctly. I'll get hit while it's still winding up on a few of the lunging attacks. Feels very inconsistent. Just in general, it's not a fun fight for me.
Bigger update than I expected. I'm looking forward to it. Rey Dau is great and I'm so glad they chose him for Arch Tempered. I'm so tired of fighting Arkveld and dumb Gor Mag (who is my least favorite monster of all time)
Fantastic game despite it's flaws. The visuals felt like the last major leap in FF mainline series. The OST to this game/trilogy is one of my favorites of all FF and that's saying a lot.
I'm glad I was in the subset of people who enjoyed this one start to finish. My only regret was losing my game save to a failed hard drive before PS+ cloud storage was a thing. I was so close to a platinum
I was wondering if Sega was working on something official for this one. I see a lot of Sonic Unleased toys at my local Target, so it seems like they 'care' about this one to some degree.
@DonJorginho While I don't have high hopes for the improving visuals/performance on the base ps5... they did mention a fairly big day 1 patch that should address certain complaints and issues.
I never pay 'attention' to if it's indie, AA, AAA, or AAAA anymore. My time and money is so limited, I'm usually only playing one or two games at any given time. I've never really seen a game and though WELL THAT LOOKS COOL TOO BAD IT'S NOT AAA... it's usually just looking at a game and saying I won't have time for that because of X game I'm playing instead.
@Ernimus_Prime I'm still waiting for a pull PSVR2 mode too. The PSVR mode was some of the most fun I had in PSVR... even only being a couple of simple levels.
When I saw Clive I got 10/10 excited for something new in FFXVI despite that making no sense.... then I saw the graphics being significantly degraded and I feared some mobile game... compared to that.... decent accountment I suppose lol
I'm skeptical that it would work well enough for most uses. Happy to try and happy to be proven wrong, but feels like it would be more of a gimmick or supplement to controllers than a stand alone offering.
I think I noticed this, but way less distracting than the non-pro version which makes me question if I need glasses every 2 minutes. I know people generally 'like' the Unreal engine, but to me, it always feels like a mess when devs opt to use it. Looks great in screenshots, but seems riddled with a ton of performance issues.
I'm not saying I agree with them not including it on the Pro.. but I will say I've had two disc drives go back in my PS5. I only use it for movies, but tend to use it at least once a week. The first one was a launch PS5 and the disc drive just stopped ejecting discs and scratched the hell out of them... the second was still the 'phat' model, but that disc drive is now flakey where it works sometimes, but often takes like 10-30 re-insertions.
It's at least nice these ones are swappable/replaceable if it fails..... more modularity is a good thing imo
Back when I was playing this game, I was always hoping for either an update to fix it or the brute force method of a PS5 pro.... I hate the way this game looks in motion.
Maybe. I am in the crowd of always wanting to play quality mode, but being 'forced' into performance mode for battery gameplay. I also really enjoy PSVR2 and would hope this new power can be used in compelling ways in VR games (as barebones and barren as they are).
The lack of a disc drive is a huge bummer. I never buy physical games anymore, but I do have a large collection of blurays/uhd movies. Being that I still have to keep my PS3 around for 3D blurays though.. maybe it's time to consider a standalone player.
I would like to see this power used to offer more 120fps experiences too. They also mentioned wifi7, but having ethernet is still a requirement for me. I would assume they have one, but you can't make assumptions anymore....
I stopped playing around 6.2 with a handful of 90s and everything else at least 80. To me, healer was always the most fun because I treated it as a DPS with bonus heals. Sure, the DPS was low, but it was still fun.
I always felt like "difficulty" was such a gray area in this game. None of the roles are difficult if you don't play them at their best. You can be lazy with any role and still get the job done if you really wanted. Why should healer be any different?
Balancing the jobs so that 'lazy' players can still have fun while the try-hards can go nuts without being OP HAS to be near impossible.
My predictions: 1. EDF6 launches and is the best game of all time, all other 2024 projects cancelled. 2. Dino Crisis Remake announced/released with PSVR2 support 3. Some sort of PlayStation Plus revamp for better or worse
I played a ton of Sport and really loved it. Realistically, I can't think any 'good' reason to buy GT Sport over GT7 though. It's better in every way.
That said, in an ideal world it would have just gotten a patch to remove all online functionality and allow offline mode to work. When it's GT7's time to die, I really hope they take this approach.
@Yoop I did this for a while. It's an ok solution, but certainly not ideal. Different person to person, but it starts to hurt my forehead after a while. It's also not the clearest picture. Last problem was just the social aspect. It's a lot more awkward having a conversation or trying to play coop games when you can't see anything around you (including the other players screen)
I've been using it a bunch the last couple of days. It's pretty solid. Everyone knows all the great stuff, but here's a couple big complaints though: 1. Performance is way worse than what I get on my Steam Deck. Frame rate/bitrate often gets smeary and gross. It never feels like a 'locked 60fps/hz' experience like it does on my laptop or the Steam Deck. 2. Speakers really are unacceptable. Tinny and harsh. Volume also needs more control... at the lowest it's still pretty loud. 3. 'touch pad' control is awful. Double tap to push doesn't always feel like it registers correctly. It also dims the freakin screen with a vinette when you do it so you can't see vital parts of the screen..... 4. Nit picky, but start up/shut down still feels a bit clunkly/slow. I would rather just push the power button and have it auto connect. Same with power button to auto disconnect/sleep my PS. 5. I'm still not sure about this one, but latency seems to be a problem sometimes. Occasionally I feel like it's missing my inputs or they are super super delayed. Not something I've ever had on the steam deck or with my laptop.
All in all, I still like/use it over my Steam Deck now, but it should be at least on par if not better than it. I hope it doesn't get abandoned and that they fix a lot of these issues over time. I wouldn't count on it though
@Loamy The endgame is very barebones. Not really anything to do or reasons to do them. Itemization is a huge mess where it's tedious and time consuming to sort/manage loot. Re: Hardware Review: PS Portal Is the Perfect PS5 Companion (For Some)
I've been using it a bunch the last couple of days. It's pretty solid. Everyone knows all the great stuff, but here's a couple big complaints though:

Re: Diablo 4 Patch 1.2.0 Sounds Like Another Solid Step Forward for the Criticised Action RPG
@Loamy The endgame is very barebones. Not really anything to do or reasons to do them. Itemization is a huge mess where it's tedious and time consuming to sort/manage loot. Respecing is also very time consuming with no way to manage loadouts so once you pick a build, the game doesn't make it easy to try a different one.
I wouldn't call it awful. I think it's pretty boring once you get to level 70. Could just be me too, but classes aren't very exciting. They've taken a few steps backwards since launch and launch was already in a rough state, so I think that's why you hear a lot of negativity. Base game is still ok/playable/enjoyable.
