Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 51

Munkyknuts

I'm 40ish hours in to Dragon Age: Inquisition and still loving it all....exploring all the areas and completing the side quests, it's a game that just keeps on giving. I'm hoping to have clocked another 10-20hrs by Monday and maybe even get somewhere with one of the romances I've been pursuing in it....plus all the demon slaying and world saving stuff.

Re: Review: Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams - Director's Cut (PlayStation 4)

Munkyknuts

I got this or at least a version of this on the PS3...possibly via PS+ or maybe just an impulse buy, I can't recall. I never played it but my girlfriend loved it...certainly looked nice when I watched her play. She never finished it tho so I didn't see a great variety of levels....actually the only game I can think of she ever completed was Thomas was Alone.

Re: There Are a Few Destiny Fans Somewhere in the Galaxy

Munkyknuts

Destiny is the Marmite of gaming....love it or hate it....or be crushingly disappointed by it not being what you thought it would be like. It's far enough away from the release of the game that most people's opinions of it are set. While I and others are not fans of it, plenty of other people clearly are....the time for arguing about it all is long in the past. The people who like it will continue to rabidly defend it...those that aren't fans, or more accurately were disappointed by what the game ended up being should have moved onto other things. Personally playing Alien: Isolation, Shadow or Mordor and currently Dragon Age: Inquisition has helped me leave Destiny in my gaming past....and it certainly won't be in my gaming future.

Re: Retailers Reduce PlayStation TV as US Consumers Tune Out

Munkyknuts

It was the lack of support for the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime that killed interest in it for me....went with an Amazon Fire TV instead. The console wasn't well advertised either tho...but still it lacks the features of the products its trying to compete against.
I didn't even know the Fire TV had games on it until I turned it on...good bonus.

Re: Remember to Loot Your Free Legendary Gift in Destiny

Munkyknuts

I've heard some people haven't gotten the gifts...no idea if that's the case or not...this have mainly been greeted on other forums and posts with people b*tching about getting a weapon they don't want or a type they don't use. I'm very far from a fan of destiny but still....a free gift is a free gift, at the very least breaking the weapon will yield some materials.

Re: Nyko's Nifty PS4 Data Bank Will Solve Your Storage Woes

Munkyknuts

I mostly buy physical copies of games so I didn't think space would be an issue on my PS4 until I found I didn't have any space left on my PS4s hard drive when I tried to play Dragon age: Inquisition.....I hadn't realised that if I buy games on disc it still installs the data on the Hard Drive....so I had games like Destiny and Infamous: 2nd son that I've not played in ages taking up 10s of GB each....that might be obvious and common knowledge to most but I hadn't realised. I really didn't think having to install a new hard drive would be an issue for me just over a year into owning my PS4.

Re: Sony Suggests a PS4 Reboot if You Still Can't Sign in to PSN

Munkyknuts

@gregmcevil I do have definite lag on the PS4 so what you say makes sense. I'll try and remember to switch the setting back when all of this dies down. At least it's worked as a fix in the mean time for some folk. If Id still been into playing Destiny the network down time would have sucked more, so i'm pleased I moved on...I feel for those into it and other online only games that have suffered during all this.

Re: PSN Down for Some Another Day as High Volume Prompts Connection Problems

Munkyknuts

I'm still online ok since I used the MTU 1473 thing but I've not been gaming much anyway as I've been lost in a lego building wonderland. I've suggested the MTU fix to some friends who had issues and it worked for them as well. Hopefully it will all be running normally soon and we can have a decent period of time without more connection issues and Pushsquare getting flooded with new people ranting swearing and shouting about throwing their PS4 out of windows.

Re: Feature: 10 PS4 Firmware Update Features That Need to Be Added in 2015

Munkyknuts

The PS4 becoming anymore socially orientated and anything like facebook isn't anything Id want any part of so it would need to be able to be all switched off if anything like that was implemented. I'm not a social person and I'm certainly not a social gamer.
I would very very much like to be able to change the username I've had since 2009.

Re: Sony Suggests a PS4 Reboot if You Still Can't Sign in to PSN

Munkyknuts

I went to safe mode...chose restart system, waited for it to go through the process. I assume this was what was meant by rebooting? Anyway it didn't work and I'm still getting the NW-31194-8 error message.
I guess next I'll try that other fix to do with MTU or whatever it is on the network settings.

Re: Sony Suggests a PS4 Reboot if You Still Can't Sign in to PSN

Munkyknuts

I'm still not online in NE England so I'll try rebooting my PS4...how do I reboot my PS4? I assume it's more than just switching it off and on again? Is it going into safe mode?. Thanks for the info Pushsquare...it must suck having to post about PSN outages at anytime but having to cover it and deal with it over Christmas is even worse. Nice of you to keep us all informed

Re: Game of the Year: Best PS4 Games of 2014

Munkyknuts

@get2sammyb Kudos for P.T being on the list...it was excellent and it was also on the list rather than the endlessly divisive Destiny, which was a pleasant surprise. P.T, along with Outlast, really rekindled my love of horror games and restored my faith that Silent Hill can still be a great thing in the aftermath of some dodgy entries in the series.

Re: Sony Engineers Investigating as PS4 Goes Offline Again

Munkyknuts

I'm still not online in Sunderland area of UK. While it's frustrating I've just found other stuff to be getting on with that don't involve the PS4. My PS3 is working ok so I could have played on that, I've just done none gaming stuff...the lack of gaming isn't ideal but it can't be helped right now. Sony does need better communication with its users in future incidents tho.

Re: Sony Engineers Investigating as PS4 Goes Offline Again

Munkyknuts

This wouldn't usually bother me much as I don't play online...however I bought games using PSN credit I got for Christmas by accessing the store through my phone earlier and Id quite like to just get them onto my PS4. It's more serious to the people I know who just got the new system and can't log in to do much with them. Hopefully soon this will all be done with. Until then I'll continue to read and build Lego kits I guess.

Re: Review: Destiny: The Dark Below (PlayStation 4)

Munkyknuts

The DLC would have to be a whole lot more than it is to be worth £20....it's a shockingly high price for shallow content...the stripping down of exotic weapons to start all over again and the locking certain things to those who didn't buy the expansion are just more slaps in the face to gamers. I'd imagine at this point Destiny is only relevent to hardcore fans who love the grind and to those who are still enjoying the crucible....personally I'm happy I've moved on to better things, like the Lord of the Hunt DLC for shadow of Mordor ( sold at a reasonable DLC price), but I'm still annoyed by articles I read about Destiny and the choices being made with it.

Re: Store Update: 17th December 2014 (Europe)

Munkyknuts

It's a huge list, but the only thing of interest to me is the Lord of the Hunt DLC for shadow of Mordor. Happily I snagged the delux version of the game during the sales and it included the season pass...got the DLC and from the 1st mission I played it seems pretty awesome.

Re: Review: Adventure Time: The Secret of the Nameless Kingdom (PlayStation 3)

Munkyknuts

in the screenshots it looks like the last Adventure Time game....can't remember it's name. That game sucked and didn't capture the feel of the show at all, so I'm pleased this game gets closer to it. I only ever played the last one because it was a well meaning gift from my Girlfriend who knew I love the show, I think the only reason I'll play this one is if the same happens again.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 49

Munkyknuts

I'm lopping heads and making Uruks flee in terror in Shadow of Mordor....about 10hrs in and I've barely touched the main missions...I'm currently planning how to take down the bane of my gaming life, a weasely little Uruk with a poisoned bolt spewing crossbow....can't remember his name but I'll be separating his head from his shoulders before I go to bed....or having him kill me for the 5th time. The nemesis system is awesome.

Re: Soapbox: Destiny's Progression System Is Destroying the Game from the Inside

Munkyknuts

I agree...I've left Destiny in the past and because its look was so well designed and the combat was so fluid and so well presented I put well over 100hrs into the game despite the mind numbing grind and all the other flaws. I got to level 29 and couldn't take it anymore. Destiny could have been a universally adored game, a title held up as a true masterpiece if different decisions had been made. Instead it's the divisive love it or hate it thing that it is. Clearly there are gamers that love the grind and defend Destiny saying haters just don't understand MMO games...but are other MMOs as mean spirited as Destiny? Others say other MMO games were as flawed when they 1st started but Destiny had the mistakes of others to learn from. I won't be putting any more time into the franchise but I'll be watching how it all progresses with interest.

Re: Weirdness: Alright, These PS4 Face Plates Are Ridiculously Rad

Munkyknuts

If I was into customising my console I'd rather have a metal cover plate with the design cut out of it...then maybe some small light source fitted inside...a nice blue light. As it is my PS4 is tucked away and can't really be seen so the standard version suits me. Customisation options are always nice tho.
