Re: Ever Wanted to Know Why You Can't Change Your PSN Name?

Munkyknuts

I'd love to change mine ive had it since 2009 and I'm not the same person now I was then...and my username sucks a lot more than I used to think it did. I'd certainly be willing to pay a reasonable fee to be able to change it...as others have said, a fee being in place would possibly handle trolls changing their ID reguarly. There could also maybe be a limit of only being able to alter the username once a month, or every six months...maybe even having to stick with the new name for a year after it changes.

Re: Round Up: Far Cry 4 PS4 Reviews Scale the Highest Mountains

Munkyknuts

The whole of the Eurogamer review is a bit harsher than that extract...but they did go on to still give it 8/10. That said the main issue was this game having a far lighter and minimal solo story than Farcry 3 to make way for its co-op mode, so score is subjective to how important the story is to you...I loved the last game because of its deeper story, loved the immersion. This was a definite buy for me that I had been waiting for since FC3 wowed me after it came onto PS+ . Now I'm not so sure as I'm really not a social gamer....it depends if the solo campaign has been reduced to the scale of something like CoD or Battlefield, just a sideshow to the main event of multi player.

At least it turned out better than AC: Unity.

Re: Review: #killallzombies (PlayStation 4)

Munkyknuts

Performing the same repetitive tasks in the hope of better gear? #soundslikeDestiny.

Another game releasing that feels unfinished isn't great, particularly in the aftermath of the AC: Unity launch.

I'll stick with Dead Nation for my zombie murdering needs...I've played thru it at least half a dozen times but it still feels more appealing than giving this game a shot.

Re: Review: Assassin's Creed Unity (PlayStation 4)

Munkyknuts

If the game is ever finished I may get it but honestly the new combat system doesn't appeal to me...the old system might have made me feel over powered to an extent but it was meant to be a living weapon of death against standard troops so it only felt right to be able to cut down enemies with relative ease...I also liked the flow and rhythm of the fights, and counter striking/fighting is a real and important component of combat. It might not fit the stealthy approach the game is pushing for...but if things did go wrong in past games and the sneaking didn't work out I could at least go out with a bang...assassination failed but a huddle of dead guards in my wake and living to fight another day.
I think I might just stay clear of Unity, I've been indifferent to the games other than AC2 and Black flag. There are other games coming out soon I'd rather buy. Far Cry 4 and Dragon Age: Inquisition will fill my time nicely, as long as they release without major issues.

An honest and well written review that doesn't pander to the publisher by pointing out flaws but then sticking an inexplicably high score on the end of it.

Re: Review: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (PlayStation 4)

Munkyknuts

@JaxonH lol that's fine...I was just clarifying that it isn't meant to be a like the bible story, it just shares some themes in common.
It's an odd game with strange reasons for existing...your clarifying of the story it's named for isnt a bad thing, and provides context for anyone unfamiliar with it.

Re: Review: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (PlayStation 4)

Munkyknuts

@JaxonH It's not supposed to be just based on scripture it's also biographical and based on the creators dysfunctional and abusive childhood...which involved his family being ex junkie religious nuts, that accounts for the pills in the game and the biblical connections.

Re: Ubisoft's Aware That Arno Can Fall Through the Floor in Assassin's Creed Unity on PS4

Munkyknuts

I'm staying well clear of the game for now...I'm not paying to be a beta tester on a 'finished' game.
I'm also very wary of games that release with restrictions on reviews having to be delayed until after the launch...it increasingly reeks of having things to hide and consumers to dupe.
So while it's been widely reported that Unity is a broken, but still enjoyable, mess, I'm curious as to the status of the new PS3 assassins creed game? Is that a mess as well?

Re: PS4 Releases Reduced in New European PlayStation Store Sale

Munkyknuts

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is a decent price in the sale...Thief goes for £20 in many stores these days so the sale price a bit high. The Whistle Blower DLC for Outlast is a bargain at the sale price as it adds a sizeable and enjoyable chunk of gameplay to the main game. There are some really good deals on the list...I'm going to have to give some of them some serious consideration.

Re: Review: The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (PlayStation 4)

Munkyknuts

I love the grim dark and dirty styling of the game. I found it quite punishing the first few times I played it. However once I got a play through that gifted me with some more interesting and damaging power ups I got into it...it's hard not to enjoy being a cursed floating wraith being that has a constantly laser beaming eye with infinite range and bombs that home in on enemies, all the while being orbited by a little...imp...thing that aggressively defended me. The piles of poo everywhere are a bit weird tho.

Re: First Impressions: How Well Does Assassin's Creed Unity Actually Run on PS4?

Munkyknuts

I hoped they would use the transition to the new generation of consoles to take the time to create a game with less glitches and bugs...however those graphical issues are there and with other issues as well. They should have focused on making the game run fast and smooth and not on stuffing the streets with so many NPCS/puppets.
I've found assassins creed to be dissapointing since the 2nd game...Revelations and Brotherhood took what I loved in 2 and stretched out thin. 3 was forgettable. Black Flag was, I felt, a lot better and getting back to how the games should be...lacking Desmond and his daddy issues was certainly a good move.
I would like to know how the time out of the Animus is handled in the one...is it still the FP office based style of Black Flag? I really quite liked that.

Re: Round Up: Dragon Age: Inquisition PS4 Reviews Stand Trial

Munkyknuts

Hugely anticipated game with quite big flaws pointed out during the review process....yet the game still nets 8/10 scores and higher....pretty much like Destiny.
I'll read the complete reviews in detail on here and else where and hear gamer feed back on what the game is like before I decide if I'm going to buy this.

Re: Batman: Arkham Knight Aiming for Visual Parity on PS4 and Xbox One

Munkyknuts

There is too much focus on frame rate and image quality comparisons....if the game just does everything it's meant to do and looks as good as it did in features and trailers I'll be happy....especially after it was delayed. No Watchdogs alike murky graphics...or Being like Destiny and being a jumbled and chopped down version of what it was meant to be. After the lacklustre but still fun Arkham: Origins I need a solid fix of Batman goodness.

Re: Feature: What's the Status of DriveClub on PS4 a Month After Release?

Munkyknuts

While Watchdogs wasn't what it could be and Destiny certainly bore a questionable resemblance to the game it was meant to be, they were on multiple platforms whereas DriveClub is a cross for Sony alone to bear and a disaster of far greater proportions....as the article states, at least the other games mentioned were playable as intended.
The only recent game I can think of that was released in a simarly broken state is Aliens: Colonial Marines...but even then it still 'worked'. It might be better to compare it to the abomination that was Basement crawl...but that was an indie title not a super anticipated AAA exclusive. DriveClub really must be causing almighty ructions through Sony at the minute....it's almost at the point that it would be kinder to just shoot it and end its suffering.

Re: Review: Escape Goat 2 (PlayStation 4)

Munkyknuts

@Bad-MuthaAdebis I do feel for the plight of Vita owners...a very solid and attractive piece of hardware with a lack of quality AAA content to play on it. I guess that won't improve as from what I've seen Sony seem to be stepping away from the Vita.

Re: Review: Escape Goat 2 (PlayStation 4)

Munkyknuts

I'm all for indie games...I love them and there inventiveness. However even I, a forthright advocate of such games, am quite sick of puzzle platformers....I had my fill of them back when I played the likes of Thomas was Alone and Braid, and they had compelling narratives as well as problem solving.
I'm still a lover of indies, but I can see why others are sick of seeing them, especially during the time when it's felt like there has been a lack of bigger titles, release dates being put back and remasters of old gen games filling the space where big AAA releases should have been. Hopefully big games releasing imminently will make it feel like playing indie titles is an option rather than the default.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 45

Munkyknuts

I gave Binding of Isaac a shot, it was fun but it's also quite punishing...not as good as I thought it might be.
I'm considering having another shot at a play through of Skyrim or jump into Metro 2033, I liked Last Light on the PS3...I'm at a bit of a loose end for what I feel like playing this weekend. I could maybe replay Dishonoured and try the DLC i never got to trying.

Re: The Mass Effect Trilogy Is on the Cards for PS4, BioWare Wants Your Input

Munkyknuts

I never played the 1st game and I never bought any of the DLC Mass Effect 3. If all the additional content is included then this could be a remaster that I could actually get behind as I found the multiplayer of the 3rd game immensely enjoyable and I rarely like social gaming. I don't even mind the way the last game ended...at least Mass Effect had a deep and engaging storyline to accompany the battling of evil alien masses, unlike another recent extraterrestrial decimating game I could mention...I just don't have time to mention why I don't have time to mention it.

Re: CD Projekt Red Doesn't Believe in Charging for Small DLC, Offers 16 Free Pieces for The Witcher 3

Munkyknuts

@SuperCat I never felt like Dishonoured was guiding me along paths it chose. There were always options of how to tackle levels and the choices made had a greater impact on how things would play out...even to the point of the last level changing completely depending on choices made. But it was the story and the art style and the deisel punk aesthetics that had me sold on it anyway.
I liked the game so much I got the DLC which I don't often do...and then never played it, which is exactly why I'd usually not buy it.
I will most certainly buy the next Dishinoured game if it ever comes out.

Re: CD Projekt Red Doesn't Believe in Charging for Small DLC, Offers 16 Free Pieces for the Witcher 3

Munkyknuts

@Godsire- I have nothing against DLC myself...it just tends to come out when I've moved on from the game it's for and don't get around to playing it. I bought DLC for Dishonoured, Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 among others but just never got to playing it.

DLC that is well presented and thought out can expand a games world, fill in story details, give new perspectives or even just give more of what was good about the game.

In the case of Destiny it feels too much like content from the main game was hacked out of it to be sold as an addition...as a result Destiny may be popular with some, disliked by others...but it missed out on being the truly great game it could have been. If it had been handled differently it could have been just amazing....selling over priced DLC for it just makes that sting even more.

Re: Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Cracks Down on PS4 Share Play

Munkyknuts

If other publishers follow suit then one of the PS4s most anticipated features becomes redundant....Activision are rapidly becoming a company I'll avoid, after the steaming pile of shattered expectations that was Destiny and then killing share play on one of the consoles biggest releases.
I've never been into CoD but maybe if I'd been able to give it a shot via Shareplay Id have gotten into it, its single player game is meant to be decent so I'd have given it a go.

Re: So, How Does Grand Theft Auto V PS4 Look in First-Person?

Munkyknuts

Gorgeous graphics and the ability to play in first person...very impressive. If I'd known I was going to be getting a PS4 when GTAV 1st came out Id have waited until it came out on the new console. As it is I've played the PS3 version to death and I can't be doing with paying again for a title I've already bought so recently.
