Re: Push Scare: Why the Abysmal Zombeer Has Changed My Outlook on Games

Munkyknuts

I've never heard of this game before now lol. There is a lot of complaining about games these days...I don't usually, but I admit I complained about Destiny. I feel I missed out by not experiencing the horror (for all the wrong reasons) of Zombeer at the time.

I'm trying to think of the worst horror game I have ever played...possibly Silent Hill: Downpour. I have played some truly shocking games in the past...I'm old enough to have experienced E.T the game for example, one of the most famously broken games ever.

Re: Guide: How to Change Your PS4's Background Colour

Munkyknuts

@Bad-MuthaAdebis Infamous: 2nd son was ok but I didn't love it, and it was pretty po faced and serious compared to Sunset Overdrive. It would be nice to play something silly and over the top...like GTA was long ago or Saints Row used to be. I'm a bit tired of grim and moody stuff right now so as much as I'm looking forward to The Order and Batman it would be good to spend time with something colourful and fun.

Re: Review: Shadow Warrior (PlayStation 4)

Munkyknuts

Sorry but linear levels, long load times and repetitiveness combined with fighting through horde mode repeatedly and dying because you went slightly off the accepted path are all bringing Destiny to mind.
This was a fun review but harsher than others I've read...none of the others mentioned the delay in physics and enemy reactions, and if that is really an issue with the game it's quite concerning...I was interested in the game but I'll hold off for now.

Re: Survival Horror Outlast Resurges with Spooky Sequel

Munkyknuts

I loved outlast and the whistleblower DLC...a rare occurrence of me paying for extra content as reviews said the DLC expanded the story both before and after the narrative of the main game.
Comparisons to PT are inevitable and I do prefer the scares the Silent Hills demo provided, but I look forward to another Outlast game, and that its set in the wider world rather than revisiting the same locations again.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Ever Stump Up for Season Passes?

Munkyknuts

I've never bought season passes. These days some games seem to be intentionally incomplete (destiny) to try and force extra content to be bought....sometimes there is a suspicion the DLC was cut out of the main game just to get more cash. Some season passes seem very expensive these days as well, the Destiny pass is almost as much as the game itself cost. The closest I've been tempted into buying a pass was Dishonoured...love that game.

Re: This Upcoming PS4 Bundle Sure Has a Grasp on Mainstream Gamers

Munkyknuts

No idea wether I count as hardcore or casual....I lose myself for endless hours In all kinds of games and I've been a gamer for a long long time, but I don't care about doing 100% of a game and out of 1800 PS trophies none of them are platinum as it usually requires repetitive busy work to get them. Neither MineCraft or FIFA appeal to me so I guess I'm a different demographic.

Re: Alright, We Admit That This Destiny Easter Egg Is Bloomin' Amazing

Munkyknuts

@Picola The people who were harsh on Destiny had valid reasons to be. However it's all old now and arguing Destinys good and bad points should be done...those who were dissatisfied (like me) should have moved on (I did) and those who are happy with the game still playing it....it's the people still playing the game while also complaining about it that baffle me.

Re: You Won't Be Doing Much Video Streaming on PlayStation TV

Munkyknuts

@glassmusic Apple TV would be my other choice since I already have the iPhone/iPad. I'm sure (I hope I have reason to be sure) that support for Netflix and Amazon instant will be added to the PS TV. I'm not saying I won't get it but I'm not going to be rushing off to get it at launch...I'll wait till Christmas time and see how it's getting supported. If it doesn't look great I'll go with a different option.

Re: Guide: Everything You Need to Know About PlayStation TV

Munkyknuts

So...netflix doesn't work on it? Well besides streaming my PS4 via remote play the main reason I wanted this was for Netflix and Lovefilm. I have a smart tv a PS3 and a PS4 in my bedroom that I can watch Netflix on but nothing in the living room...the Playstation TV was my plan to solve that issue. I'll leave getting one until I see it has Netflix support.

Re: Review: The Evil Within (PlayStation 4)

Munkyknuts

I'm not a huge fan of Japanese horror influences, wasn't when Silent Hill 4 did it and not really now either. The game looks ok graphics wise and looks well designed with well considered art style. Torture porn has gotten tiresome too, but if it does go off into a more psychological kind of horror as well then it might be worth giving a shot but I think I'll leave it for a while. I'm really not sure what I make of the game yet.

Re: DriveClub Dev Considering Compensation Options for Disastrous Launch

Munkyknuts

Issues like Drive club is having are the reason why I generally don't buy games at launch. I let problems be patched and resolved and get to read through player generated opinions of the game rather than basing a purchase on hype and reviews. The only game I've bought at launch recently was Destiny and if I'd waited to read gamer feedback Id likely have seen it wasn't for me or that I maybe needed to wait to buy it.
I'm fairly sure Drive clubs issues will be resolved as fast as possible both as good customer service and to stop it all getting increasingly embarrassing for Sony.

Re: Feature: Why Do Next-Gen Games Keep Disappointing?

Munkyknuts

@AhabSpampurse oh I agree that there are haters who pounce on those that disagree with them...but I've had the same for daring to say there were things about a game I didn't like..people get too antagonistic at times both for and against games. I do know exactly what you're saying as I had a similar experience from saying I liked Watchdogs. For me it's really just the frustration of seeing a game be at a good place during its production where it's hitting its targets and looking great, but it releases and it's become something less than it was.

Re: Feature: Why Do Next-Gen Games Keep Disappointing?

Munkyknuts

@AhabSpampurse The flip side of the Destiny thing is those that love Destiny taking any kind of criticism of the game as meaning those doing hate the game. I don't hate Destiny I actually really liked it but it doesn't mean I can't be dissatisfied with how elements of it turned out and not based on unrealistic expectations. I wish I had reasons to keep on playing Destiny but doing the same stuff over and over looking for my next legendary armour piece or weapon isn't enough. People bashing Destiny as completely rubbish is far from fair but it falls short in various ways too.

Re: Feature: Why Do Next-Gen Games Keep Disappointing?

Munkyknuts

for me an issue with games now is that graphics are put before gameplay too often. I don't care how nice a game looks if it's also packing a rubbish story line or lacking in content. I never have unrealistic expectations of games as I don't live my life waiting for games to release. However I do expect games to be what the makers said they would be...for all the things Destiny did well and did poorly, it was toted as being revolutionary and game changing and it wasn't. Watch Dogs fell short of what we were told we would get...if game makers can't match what they say we are getting then don't say it. Drive Club seems to be less than it was meant to be, but I've not played it so I can't say personally.
There is too much about if games are running at 30/60fps...if they are truly HD and less about if the game is going to bother to have a story (if it's story based) and worthwhile content and inventive ways to prolonge playability. I'm tired of beautiful but hollow gaming experiences.

Re: Review: Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition (PlayStation 4)

Munkyknuts

I loved Sleeping Dogs on PS3. I dismissed it as a GTA clone but gave it a shot when it turned up on PS+. There is no reason for me to play it again on PS4, it Id certainly recommend it to anyone who missed out on it 1st time around. I didn't like the driving much but I loved the setting and the hand to hand combat was slick...and while the gunplay feels a bit stodgy it's still good enough.

Re: DLC Locations Are Already Being Discovered in Destiny

Munkyknuts

@Scollurio When I discovered that there were factions in the game I figured that which House you affiliate yourself with would have a greater impact....maybe it will in at a later date, probably content meant to be in the main game. I've looked at all the cut content and stuff online, and it makes me sad to see what the game could have been and what it was. Destiny provided beautiful visuals and gunplay but, for me, lacked in everything else. It's a shame because at some point in its production Destiny was an amazing game.

Re: DLC Locations Are Already Being Discovered in Destiny

Munkyknuts

Bungie can say what they like but a huge amount of content has been cut and shoved it into the DLC. If cheaply produced indies can manage a good story/narrative I expect at least the same from a hugely budgeted game. Extra content DLC should be just that, extra. It shouldn't be the parts needed to complete the main game and fix it.

Re: Review: Chariot (PlayStation 4)

Munkyknuts

The only game I can remember playing where escorting someone or something was fun was Ico...must be others but I can't recall them right now. I like the look of this game, I think I'll have to give it a try.

Re: Game of the Month: September 2014 - Destiny

Munkyknuts

@Scollurio I'm totally with you...I loved Destiny's world but the game tells me next to nothing about it...not even a real reason for shooting all those aliens. I believe there was more in the game, as posts on the Internet seem to support, and I believe the DLC are chunks of the original game...cut for profit above artistic integrity.

Re: Game of the Month: September 2014 - Destiny

Munkyknuts

Destiny is a pretty good FPS up to getting to Level 20 and/or finish the 'story' but it's just not a game of the month and certainly shouldn't be having its name uttered in relation to game of the year. I've played ios on my phone with deeper story and character interaction. I would certainly give Shadow of Mordor game of the month over Destiny....it's didn't come close to being anything more than a very very pretty but very repetitive FPS that wasn't the game changing revolution it was meant to be. However my copy of Bungie's latest is long gone and its DLC expansions and sequels will never harass my PS4.

Re: DisasterClub? Sony Delays DriveClub: PS Plus Edition Due to Server Issues

Munkyknuts

@badaman873 Other racing games are coming out, it's not like those with a taste for car based games only have Drive Club as an option. The reviews of DC were quite lacklustre over all even without this cock upon hugely delaying a game, getting to the heavily toted moment of the big DC playstation plus release and announcing a further problem/delay....not good. I feel for all those who have been looking forward to Drive Club arriving and getting this all slapped on them.

Re: DisasterClub? Sony Delays DriveClub: PS Plus Edition Due to Server Issues

Munkyknuts

@heyzeus002 Most recently Destiny and its ship orbiting/flying loading screen made me reminisce about the games used to have mini games on the loading screens....or way back when I could get my FPS fix playing Doom on the 32x attachment for the Megadrive and not have 'Error code: weasel' pop up telling me I can't play because servers are down or busy or have been attacked.
