Re: First Impressions: PS4 Teen Horror Until Dawn Is So Bad That It's Scarily Good

Munkyknuts

There have been different flavours of horror game over the years...I'm a Silent Hill (1-3) fan and hyper excited for Silent Hills. While that dealt with twisted psychological horror there are so many other varied horror games from resident evil, Dead Space through things like Project Zero, Outlast and the weirdness of Clock Tower. Even the modern things like Slender. None of the games I can think of had the schlock horror feel of the films I used to watch in the 80s but this seems to...if it replicates the likes of Heavy Rain (which I loved) then I'm in.

Re: Loot Will Be More Likeable in Destiny's 1.02 Patch on PS4

Munkyknuts

@FlyingKickPunch I got stuck at 20 as well, and I suck at the crucible. I'm afraid you have to embrace the grind unless you want to try farming for items. Try the strike playlist for rewards, but also remember that being rubbish in the crucible doesn't stop you getting gear....just taking part counts.

Re: Loot Will Be More Likeable in Destiny's 1.02 Patch on PS4

Munkyknuts

@KillTheG1mp Very very few people are happy with the loot system...those few that are are just vocal about it. Some can go on about it at heart being a PVP game to say it's not meant to be replayed so it doesn't matter it's repetitive...but progression in the game demands sections and tasks being repeated over and over....some defend the game as an MMO so grinding to get gear and advance is part of that, but those same people complain about item farming which is also a part of MMO games. But no matter what a purple engram which rightly only falls very rarely as it is legendary shouldn't then reward that luck by kicking you in the teeth and going from a purple item to a blue....their isn't enough variety of content in Destiny to be forcing so much repetition.

Re: Loot Will Be More Likeable in Destiny's 1.02 Patch on PS4

Munkyknuts

@xMEADx You are in the vast minority who is happy with the loot system. I don't want the legendary engrams to come more often I just want them to actually be legendary when they are decided. And simply put there isn't enough to do in the game to keep many gamers doing the same stuff over and over again battling an unfair loot system

Re: Bungie Rolls a Boulder in Front of Destiny's Loot Cave

Munkyknuts

@thedevilsjester Because Destiny feels like the story was there and ripped out. There is no way it always just had the few disjointed cut scenes it's left with during its whole production. Destiny is defended as being an MMO and that that's just how they are...well I'd rather compare it to Mass Effect, which had the similar set up of aliens wanting to wipe humanity out but actually had a storyline that made what you did matter...even if the ending of ME3 caused a fuss it was only because people cared about the characters. It also had a co-op multi player element that really isn't so far removed from what Destiny does. The storyline of a the game is what it's about, it gives it all context...Destiny clearly has a rich background written for it, it's just not in the game. I, and others, who feel dissatisfied with the game don't hate it, I loved a lot about it...it's because what's there isn't everything that should be there. Even just becoming a quest for advancement of your guardian wouldn't be so bad if the reward system wasn't so harsh (which hopefully it won't be soon) but as it is it gives too few tasks to be performed too often and other games at least give more content and variety before you get to the point of playing just to keep cranking up stats.

Re: Bungie Rolls a Boulder in Front of Destiny's Loot Cave

Munkyknuts

The story is terrible not just weak. I was enjoying the game then suddenly wasn't....as I said repetition isn't my idea of fun. It's good that they are supposedly going to even out the drop of engrams to make it fairer....but it's still, to me, just getting the player to the nothing ending of reaching a level cap for no reason....if hitting the cap unlocked new elite content, like an actual new level then I could see a reason to do it. many games are really just 'go there', 'do that', 'shoot them' but at least in a game like borderlands there would be side missions with a voiced character with a personality that dressed up why you're doing the task with some kind of story or narrative...Destiny doesn't even try to give any kind of reason than 'just because'

Re: Bungie Rolls a Boulder in Front of Destiny's Loot Cave

Munkyknuts

I'm done with debating Destiny, as i'm also done with the game...those enjoying grinding away to level 30 (really don't see the point, seems an empty reward to me) that's great, but that isn't my idea of fun...I play games for the story it tells not just repeating things. I kept playing because the shooting was excellent but I've gotten to the point that if I see another bounty to 'patrol the moon 6 times' or 'collect 100 vandals scrotal sacks' either my brain will turn dribbly or I'll frisbee the Destiny disc out the window.

Re: Bungie Rolls a Boulder in Front of Destiny's Loot Cave

Munkyknuts

@NintendoNaut they give you a storyline...a narrative and a world to take in...not the same narrow (admittedly very pretty) fire corridors to repeat. There was a lot more to games like skyrim, fallout 3 and GTA V than just the satisfaction of beating them. and Destiny doesn't even give a satisfying ending.

Re: Bungie Rolls a Boulder in Front of Destiny's Loot Cave

Munkyknuts

@Tasuki I've played MMO's with far more fair and giving loot system than this and they tended to give a lot more content and variation before I got to the point of just repeating the same things endlessly for better gear. Some of them even had a story. Bungie reckoned the game doesn't get going until level 20....really? The end game is just so full of content that I can totally see what they meant....repeating the same content over and over but with modifiers? Wooo yeah.

Re: Bungie Rolls a Boulder in Front of Destiny's Loot Cave

Munkyknuts

Now can they fix having nothing to do but repeat the same missions, strikes and patrol missions on and on for no purpose but to maybe eventually get to level 30....for no reason other than for the sake of doing it?

They say they didn't want people standing shooting at a black hole, well I don't want to play the same missions with enemies that spawn in the same place everytime, just to have the reward of a legendary engram (If you're lucky enough to get one) to kick you in the nuts and turn blue or green.

No you don't have to farm but the alternative is tedium...unrewarding tedium most of the time. I got to the 13th strike of the 25 needed for the 'Tolands Legacy' exotic bounty and realised I just don't care anymore and turned the game off....my hunter can stay at 27. They can do what they like to the game, I'm done....and they can shove the DLC up their magic cave.

Re: Bet You Haven't Found This Totally Obscure Location in Destiny

Munkyknuts

@wittypixel man, I've lost track of how many times ive done the same Damned patrol missions and seen the same levels and areas. The enemies even always spawn in the same places everytime. I must have spent hours watching my ship flying thru the loading screens. I just want to get to level 30 and quit...I'm surely not paying for DLC to get content that I suspect will have been made up of the stuff cut from the main game. There are amazing elements to the game but too many deal breakers....the repetitiveness and story line are just a big kick to the nuts.

Re: This Dude Has Played Way More Destiny Than You Have

Munkyknuts

I'm a sliver under level 27 now that I bought some legendary gauntlets. I'll onto 27 when I upgrade them a bit. I'll get something legendary from the black market vendor at the week end to boost me some more....then I guess I'll be hunting asendent shards after that to keep upgrading armour pieces to get to level 30.

Re: This Dude Has Played Way More Destiny Than You Have

Munkyknuts

@get2sammyb The bounties themselves aren't much different from others I've done, but there is some variation in them like 'kill 200 fallen with head shots'
The queens missions offer a little variety and from what I've heard they offer more consistent rewards, I don't know if that's true as I've not tried one yet.

Re: This Dude Has Played Way More Destiny Than You Have

Munkyknuts

I'm close to level 27...right now I'm focused on the requirements for completing the 'Tolands Legacy' exotic bounty...only have 4 of the required 25 completed strikes. I still don't have any legendary gauntlets, still need exotic....anything.
I've not spent much time in the crucible yet so maybe hitting that ( another requirement for Tolands Legacy) will yield some legendary or exotic goodies.
Thanks to the randomness of rewards I'm both very close and far far away from level 30.

Re: This Dude Has Played Way More Destiny Than You Have

Munkyknuts

@Darthreven7 The best thing about the farming cave isn't hoping for legendary engrams to drop. They do drop there but all mine turned blue or green. It's better for getting blue engrams which drop regularly that you can raise the cryptarchs level with and get rewards for doing it. I got legendary helmet and chest armour from him as rewards. The cave is worth trying a few times at least, it's tedious but no more so that the patrol missions.

Re: Download This Destiny PS4 Patch to Make a Few Missions Easier

Munkyknuts

Since there isn't a real ending to the game I'm seeing getting to level 30 as my end point. I'm at level 26 now and close to 27...thanks to the totally unbalanced reward system I could get the legendary and exotic gear I need to raise my level in two hours or two months. I'm also working at the 'Tolands legacy' exotic bounty, only 4 strikes into the 25 needed for it.
The loot cave has really been blown up into a bigger deal than it is. Farming that location sets off a full scale battle between the hive and the fallen. The game reacts to what you're doing and have to fight off that sudden flood of enemies is one of the most fun things I've seen happen in the game.

Re: Poll: Are You in Tune with the PlayStation TV?

Munkyknuts

I want it for vita games I missed from not liking handheld gaming...who wouldn't want to be able to have your PS4 in two rooms? And I want it for the media capabilities. In my bedroom I have access to netflix and Lovefilm via the PS3, PS4 and a smart TV but the Vita TV would give me more options than just Sky in the Living room.
I'm already getting a bribe together for the sneaky little elf with a taste in reindeer porn who get my name rubbed off Santa's naughty list every year...

Re: Desperate for a Legendary Engram in Destiny? You can Apparently Grab a Few with This Exploit

Munkyknuts

@chazaroonie I agree that the rewards from the cryptarch are awesome...I've gotten legendary engrams from that location and a lot of blue and getting them unlocked made my rating with the cryptarch shoot up, and the best gear I've got came from the rewards he gave out. I've got Legendary helmet, chest plate and boots for my Hunter, but I've got no purple weapons. I don't see farming an area that I believe was put there on purpose as cheating. Farming is as much a part of MMO games as grinding is.
I got my first exotic bounty in yesterday, and the requirements to do it are tough but at least doing it gives grinding some more purpose now.

Re: Desperate for a Legendary Engram in Destiny? You can Apparently Grab a Few with This Exploit

Munkyknuts

Last night I did the magic cave location and it went into hyperdrive. When it got to the point of the enemy flooding out everywhere we were able to blockade the cave mouth and fire into it as the enemy spawned in it constantly to bursting point....the farm had already gone well but at least three legendary engrams dropped there in a matter of minutes. One of my fellow farmers got two purple engrams within seconds of each other.

Re: Desperate for a Legendary Engram in Destiny? You can Apparently Grab a Few with This Exploit

Munkyknuts

@ToOGoodOfAPlaya I've never done any crucible bounties only vanguard and after handing in the five bounties I completed today I've just gotten my 1st exotic bounty. I want the exotic Pulse rifle but I've no idea if it comes from any of the three bounty missions I've just been given the option of: a dubious task, Tolands legacy and a light in the dark. At least I've finally gotten something new to do. Good luck getting an exotic bounty soon

*update...the requirements to get the pulse rifle (in Tolands legacy) are a b*tch... Oh well

Re: Desperate for a Legendary Engram in Destiny? You can Apparently Grab a Few with This Exploit

Munkyknuts

@xMEADx I like many others have a life outside of gaming. The free time I do have isn't going to spent grinding patrols and strikes in Destiny for the small chance of advancement. But wow....aren't you a blessed fellow? Unusually high success at getting good items without being a 'cheater' and the luxury of plenty of time to game....should we all start lining up to bow down to you?

Re: Desperate for a Legendary Engram in Destiny? You can Apparently Grab a Few with This Exploit

Munkyknuts

@Bad-MuthaAdebis I've played in excess of 70hrs and every legendary drop I got turned blue or green and it feels like being cheated, as does hammering at a hard or very hard level strike and getting nothing as a reward. I'm with dead orbit as well and I've been getting a few good items from the crucible, but the total randomness of that can feel like an insult to you're efforts too...at least it's only 10mins or so per match as opposed to hours in a strike playlist.

Re: Desperate for a Legendary Engram in Destiny? You can Apparently Grab a Few with This Exploit

Munkyknuts

@xMEADx Yeah....not that you're bragging or anything. And how much time did you spend playing to get that gear? Must have been a lot or you're luckier than most Destiny players. I spent an hour and a half farming to get to where I needed to be rather than endless days doing the same stuff over and over. So how exactly should the game be played? You're clearly a master at it, do tell us?

Re: Desperate for a Legendary Engram in Destiny? You can Apparently Grab a Few with This Exploit

Munkyknuts

@xMEADx I very much doubt any of the gear we got doing it will be taken away and it's preferable to grinding for endless hours waiting for a legendary engram that turns into a green item when it's decrypted. I didn't want to farm but I also am not spending my free time doing the same incredibly repetitive things with very little reward. The end game of Destiny sucks and if I have to sit outside a cave with four other people shooting for 30 mins and get engrams that way just to get to a level to play the Vault of Glass and finally get something new to do I will.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Play Destiny in Third-Person?

Munkyknuts

I'm still sad about the lack of customisation options for my guardian, the kind of thing that would be better showcased in 3rd person. I wouldn't mind that view point being an option, but I'd still play in the first person. I always chose to do so in Skyrim and Fallout, never spent a moment in the 3rd person. I've only played as a hunter so I don't know if/when the other two classes switch perspective, but I find it happening during the special of the Bladedancer sub class to be really jarring. I don't mind it during sparrow rides or the above mentioned story level.

Re: Desperate for a Legendary Engram in Destiny? You can Apparently Grab a Few with This Exploit

Munkyknuts

I did this in three 30 min sessions...I didn't want to farm but I spent days at level 22 and with the help of doing this I'm half way to level 25. I got a lot of blues...one legendary (that turned into a ******* blue item when it was decrypted) however one of the gifts I got for going up cryptarch ranks turned out to be a shiny legendary helmet for my Hunter. The fact that every legendary engram I've gotten so far but one devolved to a blue or even a green(!) makes me ok with exploiting this.
