Re: Sony Lining Up Internet TV, TV, TV Launch for PlayStation 4

Munkyknuts

I already have Netflix and Lovefilm on the PS4 as well as Sky TV so I'm covered for media. However the extra media abilities don't hurt to have around...and the PS3 and PS4 were always meant to be more of an entertainment hub than just a games console, even if Sony did choose (wisely) to focus on the gaming side of the PS4 in its advertising.

Re: Soapbox: Please Protect Me from the Purgatory of the PS3

Munkyknuts

I still love and use my PS3 frequently...still have a back log of games waiting to be played. I'm sure my use of it will eventually be phased out but for now it's still sitting next to the PS4. The patches on the last gen system are very annoying tho...but they always were.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 39

Munkyknuts

I've only just managed to get my Hunter in destiny to level 22 and I've slowly gotten near enough vanguard marks and in sniffing distance to having a vanguard rank of 2...so I'll be doing what I need to do to buy a piece of legendary armour.... I'll try the crucible again but I really really suck at it. I'm having faith that levelling up my character is for something greater than just grinding for the sake of it. If you see a green armoured Hunter offering morally questionable sexual services in the tower in exchange for vanguard marks....it's me.

Re: Destiny's Impossible Raid Can Be Beaten in Under Two Hours

Munkyknuts

@teknium_ Personally I found that Borderlands and Ni No Kuni had more story content to them so it didn't feel like I was rushing towards the end game like I did with Destiny...which pushes you to get there....I do really like Destiny and I'm invested in its world, but I'm looking forward to what all the level grinding is going to be for.

Re: Destiny's Impossible Raid Can Be Beaten in Under Two Hours

Munkyknuts

@wittypixel I've played a lot of hours over the past week and I have to say I find the endgame content very light and incredibly repetitive if you're not into grinding through the same content over and over hunting for better gear....that currently doesn't matter because there is nothing to do with but hunt for better gear and raise your level higher...and after level 20 it's a trudge. There isn't any greater goal I can see that gives it all some meaning.

Re: Destiny Pushed PS4 Sales Beyond Any Other Week Since Christmas 2013

Munkyknuts

I'm post story now and at level 21 and I'm already bored of how repetitive it is....mainly the grind to get better armour to raise my light level. I'm holding off on trying the Mars strikes just so I have some new content to still look forward to.
The patrols are getting dull and I'm baffled as to why going to finally confront the hard enemies hidden away in areas with a '??' Near their life bar Doesn't seem to net any kind of reward? Maybe I'm missing something.
On the plus side the shooting is sublime and the enemies fun to destroy. But spending so long replaying the same stuff over and over with my Hunter to raise my level certainly doesn't make me want to do it all again with a new character.
As it stands I think I'll have stopped playing destiny before the expansions/DLC hit...there isn't enough after the endgame to keep me hooked....shame as its a lovely game to look at and play.

Re: Don't Forget to Set Aside a Moment to Download Destiny Patch 1.03

Munkyknuts

I've been kicked twice once while patrolling and once during a story mission, I think that was down to the internet playing up on Wednesday rather than the servers.
I won't be setting foot in the vault of glass, I only have a level 20 Hunter and I've heard from level 25 people getting mauled when they try it.

Re: Despite PS4's Success, Sony Expects to Lose a Lot of Money Again

Munkyknuts

Sony has been this way for years but the next time Microsoft buys out a franchise like they did with Tombraider people will still shout about Sony needing to do the same back to Microsoft and play them at their own game. Microsoft is a financial powerhouse with money to burn, Sony are always running at a loss...I've been playstation since 1997 but I can't think of many other products of theirs I've owned, I think I had a cassette Walkman made by them once and I have a DVD player of theirs but that's about it.

Re: Free PS4 DriveClub Taster Will Come in Addition to Usual PlayStation Plus Allocation

Munkyknuts

@AD-80 this is a polite site so I'm going to refrain from replying to you the way I'd like to. However you know nothing about me and I certainly don't rate your opinion on anything. You don't like what I say then tough...I can't be bothered with someone who seems set on trying to pick a fight. If you think my comment that last months PS3 games were poor was wrong then that's tough too, I'll say what I like and express what opinion I like. Knock yourself out with your reply I won't see it.

Re: Free PS4 DriveClub Taster Will Come in Addition to Usual PlayStation Plus Allocation

Munkyknuts

@AD-80 I had PS+ for a long time before PS4 because of the high quality of the games given out. There is a massive backlog of games for the last gen system and really no reason for there to be a quality drop in what's offered on that system. Some of the best game experiences I've had have been on games from PS+ that I'd not have ever bought, and so not experienced otherwise. It's in no way unrealistic for me to expect the quality of games given for the PS3 to continue at the standard it's been at for years.

Re: Review: Flockers (PlayStation 4)

Munkyknuts

It looks ok but I had my fill of suicidal mammals with the Lemmings games...I'm old enough to have lived through the fad of it from start to dodgy 3D Lemming herding end. I'm surprised the touch pad on the controller couldn't have been made a stand in for the use of a mouse...maybe it's too small and would have made it too fiddly.

Re: Free PS4 DriveClub Taster Will Come in Addition to Usual PlayStation Plus Allocation

Munkyknuts

I couldn't care less about racing games. Very decent of them to make it an extra plus game tho... Means it won't be replacing one of the indie games I hope the ps3 offering is better this time tho....I don't expect AAA games in the PS4 line up but I do in the PS3 list.... Hoard and that playstation all stars game are not in the same league as the liked of Crysis 3 and farcry 3.

Re: Review: Destiny (PlayStation 4)

Munkyknuts

Good review. I'd say it's not a case of it not being the gameplay revolution some wanted, but not being the groundbreaking revolution it was sold as being. It doesn't do anything new, but the things it does do are done very very well. I'm at level 11 and about to go to Venus and I'd rate it at an 8 so far...it doesn't come close to matching all the hype for me, but I never expected it to. The gameplay is still a too repetitive cycle of enemies spawning to be shot at...but the shooting is fun so it's not so bad.

Re: Round Up: Destiny PS4 Reviews Shoot for the Moon

Munkyknuts

Having spent some solid hours with the game ( about to hit Venus) I'm happy with it as a very polished very satisfying shooter...I'm still not getting what makes it groundbreaking, but it's fun to shoot things in it. Also I love games that have throwing knives in them, and the hunters ability to chuck blades around is endlessly satisfying to me. I'm indifferent to the multiplayer aspects of it but I've had some satisfaction in teaming up with other randomly encountered guardians....I suck at the crucible tho.

Re: Round Up: Destiny PS4 Reviews Shoot for the Moon

Munkyknuts

@heyzeus002 it happens over and over again with the hype machine. Knack suffered from way too much attention as well. I rate Destiny as a solid 7/10 based on what I've seen so far...edging to 8/10. 7/10 - 8/10 is a perfectly decent score to land on, but hype makes people rabid and act hurt when the game isn't 10/10...which it will be to some as it's all subjective anyway.

Re: Approximately How Long Does Destiny's Story Take to Beat?

Munkyknuts

@Paranoimia it's true that the play time is more about content than length...but I expected a more sprawling and immersive narrative, and so, a longer story/main campaign. It's true Destiny does have the same core mechanic, and RPG lite approach as borderlands 2 (and fall out 3) but borderlands and fallout had exploration and a feeling of open environments. In Destiny I feel like I'm trapped in an arena with endlessly re spawning enemies.

Re: Weirdness: This Is the Most Expensive PS4 in the World

Munkyknuts

I like the grid work of lines over the surface of the machine. I couldn't care less about the Rose gold. The design is sexy, the materials used are just gaudy and tasteless....I know a couple of people who could buy this with pocket money but I think they have more taste...and in the case of one of them his wife won't let him have a regular PS4, let alone this glamour box.

Re: Round Up: Destiny PS4 Reviews Shoot for the Moon

Munkyknuts

I'd agree with the above 7/10 rating based on what I've seen of the game so far. I'm failing to see what there is that is meant to elevate it to the game of the year heights, or what makes it innovative. It's a solid shooter with a convoluted storyline and very repetitive action. The hub/tower is giving me flash backs to Playstation home. I love the gunplay in it , the weapons are satisfying to fire and the design and art style are nice but it all feels a bit hollow. It's not as big a deal but I thought there would be more freedom to customise my character and make them look more unique than I've seen so far in the game.

Re: Feature: Man on the Moon - Our Early Intergalactic Impressions of Destiny on PS4

Munkyknuts

I'm finding the game pretty repetitive so far to be honest so I hope I get some variety soon. It's still worth plodding on with but I'm pleased my copy of Destiny was a gift because I'd be far less happy with the experience so far if I'd dropped £45 of my own money on it. The guns are fun but the loop of enemies spawn, shoot them, they respawn, shoot them, they respawn, shoot them...get bored and go poking around in a dark hole, meet badass higher class enemy run away or die, is getting on my nerves already and I'm only at level 4.

Re: Approximately How Long Does Destiny's Story Take to Beat?

Munkyknuts

10hrs is way too short for me....but as I dislike co-op gaming and so much of the game is focused on that it wasn't ever a certainty I'd buy the game. I liked the multiplayer in Mass Effect 3 but ME3 also had an excellent solo player main game. I'm leaning towards not buying Destiny at the moment.

Re: You Should Probably Ignore This First Destiny PS4 Review

Munkyknuts

I'm wary of anything that gets hyped endlessly...be it a game, a film a book or whatever. At best the product can't possibly meet the high expectations the hype generated and at worst all that hype and advertising covers up the fact it's a lacklustre product. I'll be holding off on touching Destiny until the dust has settled and more reviews hit so I can find the honest ones....not the over eager fanboy reviews or the intentionally harsh reactionary ones like the one mentioned in the above article. I don't get caught up in the hype machine but I've maintained an objective interest in this game....have to really, it's not a polished re-release of a PS3 game or another sequel. I always hope for good things from a new franchise.

Re: Video: Watch As We Recap August's Best PlayStation Games

Munkyknuts

Of course it got game of the month....it was a good game last time it was released. Something was said of Sony limiting these next gen ports, it really doesn't feel like that's the case at the moment. They are worth it as the definitive version of the games for anyone who missed them 1st time around...but there is no chance of me buying the same games I already bought and supported on PS3. I can understand and tolerate some of the releases but next gen rehashes getting game of the month just shows a lack of quality new content. It won't matter when more big games hit the shelves but having played all the AAA games I want to for the next gen console my PS4 is left feeling like an upgraded PS3 and my actual PS3 fulfils that roll just fine.

Re: Horror Sensation Slender: The Arrival Creeps onto PS3

Munkyknuts

@Alpha I'm sure it will work well...surviving any of the locations should be challenge enough to earn a trophy. I hope it remains minimalist as it doesn't really need to be fleshed out...just someone alone in a sh*t scary location trying to collect creepy notes. If we can just not have anymore teenagers trying to kill their friends and/or family because the slender man told them to it would be super.

Re: Horror Sensation Slender: The Arrival Creeps onto PS3

Munkyknuts

I have slender: rising on my phone/iPad. The slender man is more a cultural phenomenon at this point than just a game character....more people being certain he must exist and more impressionable minds using his influence as an excuse for commiting awful crimes....I'm not surprised a game based on the Slender Man has finally spread onto consoles...I've been following the rise of the myth with interest. I can recommend trying the games but also looking into the wider social impact of what started out as (I think) a creepy pasta story on the internet.
