@Porco You got a source on P-Studio changing their name to Studio Zero? I was under the impression both still existed but some of the head developers including P5's director were moving to work on Re-Fantasy, but P-Studio would still exist and be in charge of maintaining the Persona brand. Atlus' Wikipedia page says that they both exist as internal divisions as well.
I'm surprised Persona 5 only got nominated for a couple categories, not even the achievement in story one, that really surprises me because its story is SO GOOD. (edit: guess i'm not the only one that thinks it got a bit snubbed haha)
I hope Everything can pick up an award, I loved that game, same with Edith Finch as well.
Very unfortunate, I didn't get too far with this one but I loved the original and was going to play this when it came out (even bought it at full price) but then that long list of games in January/February this year all came out at once so I never sunk my teeth into it, liked what I played though.
More importantly, I think we can safely say this will become a trend with Sony first-party software that under-performs, which as a guy that tends to play niche games like this, doesn't excite me.
Per...so...na, got the Premium Edition shipped from the US (it was $50 cheaper to do that than it was to buy locally in Aus), and have been adoring this game, it's everything I wanted it to be and more. It hurts I won't be able to play a JRPG quite this good until the next Persona game (though the high-quality Japanese story-telling gap should be filled by Danganronpa 3).
If they don't pick up the marketing for this one fast, I'm not gonna be optimistic for the sales of this one. Looks good too, it'll be a shame if it doesn't do well but matches the quality of the gameplay from E3 last year.
The game was already mostly just Batman Arkham and Assassins Creed's glorious, outstanding lovechild, so throwing in a bit of Mass Effect? Yes please, yes yes yes.
I think early July would be best, probably wouldn't be many other games for it to compete with, since that's around the time the drought sorta begins (not that we have droughts anymore with indies, but I mean in the larger AAA space).
All these Japanese games releasing in the same month in the west are gonna eat into each other's sales, unfortunate, as they all look pretty interesting.
@Ralizah was just about to write that this one was missing eheh.
Crash for me, hopefully that 2017 date at the end of the trailer actually means 2017, unlike a bunch of games there at PSX. Ni No Kuni and Ace Combat especially. No way they're making 2017.
@get2sammyb exactly. Sorta mid-tier, maybe some sort of physical release but not $60, maybe, MAYBE $40, but I'd go lower, and it'd be great.
I wonder, who'd make it though? Most first parties seem to have revealed their hand, not that they'd make something smaller like this anyway. Maybe some branch of Sony Japan? I doubt the Puppeteer dudes are making a sequel to that, maybe they're working on this?
@wiiware @Kidfried It's not a gut feeling that he's a diva, it's a gut feeling to question what I'm told by anyone in this industry. Make no mistake, Konami is awful (and if ya'll don't watch Jim Sterling dumping on them every chance he gets, you should, he's great and has an episode of his show on a topic similar to this, the working conditions at Konami). They've massacred their franchises and alienated people to insane extents, and we're in agreement that doing what's described here isn't right and whatever Kojima really is like, it doesn't justify it.
I'm saying to not take what he says as 100% truth. Did you hear Geoff's speech? Made Kojima sound like a saint. I don't think he's lying, and I think he's authentic friends with Hideo, but like you said, it's one side. (Konami's refusal to say anything of real note about this story doesn't help'em tho)
@Mega-Gazz agreed, Kojima knew there was no way people would think he was the bad guy in this situation no matter what actually happened.
Though it's worth mentioning Konami has seemed to drive some other creators out, Koji Igarashi for instance seemed to have a similar experience to Kojima in his final few months at Konami.
Dunno if it went this far necessarily though (solitary confinement), so that could lend some credibility to the theory Kojima's just a jerk of a dude to the company that gave him his career.
Played the demo, first Dragon Quest game but I adored it and bought it on PS4 the other day for $47 (nearly or more than half price depending on where you look in Aus), terrific game.
Really hope we can use a code to get 10% off too like the US did, wouldn't work when I tried to redeem it (not that I thought it'd work). Can't seem to find on the EU Playstation Blog a post about this sale, so hopefully when that goes up, it'll come with the code... maybe... hopefully... please? I'm like $5 away from getting Overwatch and Hitman HD Trilogy but 10% could push me over the line... fingers crossed...
Tales of the Borderlands, $1.49?! Dear lord if EU (or Australia specifically but we have the same sales) can get even close to that low, snagging it immediately. Megadimension Neptunia for $4.99 is insane for such a long JRPG too in my opinion. Feelin jealous of the US PSN peeps.
@FullbringIchigo you answered your own question, Tomb Raider got it this year because Golden Joystick holds its awards so early in the year that it missed the game last time, same with Fallout 4. I agree, kinda stupid that they don't wait until January or I'd go February to ensure the choices are spot on, but eh, most people don't pay attention to this stuff anyway.
Glad the trophies are mainly single-player focused then and the only multiplayer ones are things like "win a game", since this game will likely face the same fate that the original did and be a ghost town within months. Really unfortunate. Will still support the game for its supposedly great campaign by buying it at Christmas time.
@hieveryone Persona 4 is such a timesink a Vita could be seen as worth it for that game alone, depending on your stance on that kinda thing.
Persona 4 and the most recent 2 of the 3 Danganronpa games are definitely playable on the PSTV (the first one is playable on it if you're in the US but not Europe for some reason) and the PSTV is way cheaper than a handheld Vita so maybe that could be the way to go?
@Kidfried Agreed. And I might be wrong, but shouldn't the "Ubisoft Club" option on the menu just say Uplay? Not incredibly familiar with Assassin's Creed but in other Ubisoft games I've played I've never seen something referred to as "Ubisoft Club".
Seeing as though the Vita lineup is winding down to VNs as of last month, I think the pattern might continue, potentially SteinsGate but that could be too hopeful. I've played it, EXCELLENT game.
I'm personally thinking something around the scale of Gat out of Hell (which was free in July) for PS4, so maybe Trials Fusion (vanilla game, no DLC)? And random guess that probably won't be accurate, but maybe Tennis in the Face, or otherwise it'll definitely be something on that tier of budget, pricing etc for one (or all) of the platforms.
@Rumple "and there hype will never be believed so blindly in the future." people said this after Watch Dogs in 2014. Then everyone bought the Division. Now everyone's gonna buy Watch Dogs 2. The hype cycle continues...
The season pass went up to $75-$80 (depending on platform and where you looked) for Australia. Disgusting price for three and a half (Vault-tec was okay) good DLCs.
February 9th is the same week as Persona 5 in US and EU... Dunno if it's gonna hit that date worldwide, cuz pretty much every Japanese game fan under the sun is getting that game, let's be honest. And indeed, Q1 next year is packed with awesome games, Hitman physical edition, Horizon, Sniper Elite (or was it Sniper Ghost Warrior? I don't remember but it was the same day as Persona), Kingdom Hearts, Danganronpa (in Japan at least), For Honor. The list goes on.
Well, at least it has a chance at selling now. The games it was releasing around (Titanfall, Battlefield, Skyrim, Dragon Ball Xenoverse) were gonna smash this. Now it's coming out relatively close to Gravity Rush, South Park and Dead Rising, where it'll do MUCH better.
