Sony is switching off Gravity Rush 2’s servers a year after the game launched, and this is becoming far too common as far as we’re concerned. The company has already killed both The Tomorrow Children and Kill Strain in less than 12 months, and while Kat’s sophomore story is not nearly as reliant on online functionality as the aforementioned, this still rubs us the wrong way. Why are we paying for PlayStation Plus if the platform holder can’t keep its own software running?
So, beginning from 18th January at 9:00PM PT, you’ll be unable to send challenges, partake in treasure hunts, and obtain Dusty Tokens. It’s this latter part that’s the killer, as there are costumes tied to the in-game currency system which will suddenly be rendered inaccessible. To its credit, the company will be increasing the number of Dusty Tokens you can collect from now until the servers are shutdown, but this still doesn’t sit well with us. Cut it out, Sony – it’s a bad look.

This sucks, man. The online parts don't really add much to Gravity Rush 2, but I hate the principle and I'm sick of them shutting down games after a year or less.
I wouldn't mind if this came out in 2007 on the PS3, but c'mon — this is a 2017 release!
@get2sammyb Is keeping these servers running really that expensive? Even for games like Gravity Rush 2? There are loads of less popular titles on PS4 that have similar online features and they've been running for years now.
@ShogunRok I imagine maybe @antdickens or someone with better knowledge of these things could answer better, but I can only assume given the kind of server racks Sony buys, it'd cost pennies to keep this online.
Either way, people have paid for the game and their PS Plus subscription, they should be guaranteed more than a year's worth of service IMO.
Follow the money i presume...
@get2sammyb servers aren't always cheap, but you would expect a big game like this to have factored this into the original budget of the game... I imagine marketing cost would outweigh server costs for a game like this, it's not Battlefield is it? Does seem a bit cheap to cut them off so soon...
This is ridiculous. I mean GR was always more of a cult classic rather than a commercial success so coupled with the fact that's its a more singleplayer orientated game, I can't imagine it's because the playerbase is lower than expected. I still haven't finished the game though so I hope they decide to unlock all the costumes for all players once the servers are gone.
Next thing you know we'll be hearing that the new Everybodys Golf servers will be turned off within 6 months of release.
@Gatatog "Next thing you know we'll be hearing that the new Everybodys Golf servers will be turned off within 6 months of release."
Don't even joke about it.
From that Donkey Kong game and Miiverse to Gravity Rush 2 and this stuff... so many arguments for why it doesn't look like a nice idea to tie any of the unlockable content to social online modes. I reckon some of the trophies are online-based, too? That's what rendered my MotorStorm Arctic Edge badge collection forever incomplete and that, along with the toybox collection, was what motivated me to get a PS4 last year just so I could have enough time to deal with this in Disney Infinity. I guess this here will be an incentive to grab GR2 before January and grind some tokens, too - even though I've barely started the first game yet. Hopefully I'll be able to go online without having to clear half the story ahead of the prequel.
Unless Sony actually unlocks the related content once the in-game currency for it becomes pure unobtanium... but then again, not holding my breath for that after Nintendo didn't.
Does anyone know if there are any trophies linked to the things being shut off? I have the game but not played it yet - however I will if it means missing out on a trophy due to the servers.
Disgusting practice to do it so soon, regardless of sales.
@get2sammyb Now I need to fast track into a job at Sony just so I can make it happen. Muahahaha
That's disgusting, this'll be the PS4/Sony pivot, despite the recent improvements to PS Plus games maybe now they'll turn full d bag.
This suck
So....wait what? Doing this crap AGAIN?
Alright lets break it down.
In some years, before the price hike, PS+ as a service and PSN as a whole made more money than other gaming companoes entirely. Before the recent price hike.
There are 10s of millions of people playing these systems. Millions of dollars from games and that service flowing in.
And you want to tell me that Sony can barely keep servers for a game open for a year? Why? Did the money run dry? I doubt it! Do they just not feel like it? Do they want to maximise profits?
And if it really is that expensive, why do the long dead Wii U and Xbox 360 still have online functionality, one of which is unpaid entirely!
Sony for God's sake what is going through your heads lately? PR gafs left and right, attemtping to shoehorn blame for something that was in at least part YOUR fault (Vita) and now this frankly disturbing trend, that beggars belief in the face of the fact we know you roll in money from your online service!
And this is a compelling argument against online games in general. Just without warning your content goes bye bye.
Damn this is...wow. i need a drink.
@Turniplord I don't believe there are any Trophies attached, no.
@Turniplord Nope. I got the platinum well before I even dabbled with the online stuff.
This sucks though. BIG TIME. GR2s challenges are the best- my favorite challenges in any game ever. They are so much fun. The golds are relatively easy to obtain, but the real fun lies in beating other peoples scores.
I try to look at both sides, but this really is inexcusable.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi I think this is purely for profit maximization.
Again, the long dead 360 and Wii U still have this support. One of those is even unpaid. And the price just went up so whats the excuse ya know?
Money. I think Sony being all pro consumer from the start of the generation has gone.
Strap in boys. We're going back to the early PS3 days it seems...and thats something no one should get behind
Dont think this is donys fault but game publisher/developpers. Doubt it has anything to do with your psplus.
Frankly this whiny article is a nuissance and part of the toxic entitlement that bits of the community has. The game did not do well... turn off the lights. Move on... unless you think dedicated resources should be there for a product that is not brining in sells.
Surely you understand this cycle
@Mikethemosher Fun fact.
Its a Sony game. So all that PS Plus money? Thats what they say this is for. Their games, their servers.
And again, this needs repeating, if its not making money sure, turn it off. But it is. Because this is what PS Plus pays for.
And if money and not enough of said money, really was the issue, then why are the Xbox 360 and Wii U still playable online? They arent making money now either. But the option is there.
And this is a game thats a year old funded by a huge part of Sonys business, the recently price hiked PS+. This defies the logic of nearly every other company in the industry!
They also shut down LittleBigPlanet 3's servers in Japan.
@BLP_Software Can you please stop exaggerating? This sucks and it's been called out as such, but it's not the kind of sky falling scenario you're trying to paint so just calm down.
@get2sammyb - cool, i'll get to it when I have some spare time then - regarding the costumes that unlock, maybe they will just release them free as a dlc once the servers are shut?
Yeah, that's pretty whack.
@Turniplord Yeah, best case scenario is that they'll just unlock them for everyone when the servers close, like you say.
It would depend on how they are managing the server. It it's a dedicated server JUST for this game, yes, that's expensive. They'd be paying for power, cooling, maintenance, and a salary to manager the server.
It is very possible they are having issues with that piece of hardware or software. It could be a matter of cutting their losses before a catastrophic failure. It's better to tell a customer something will shut off in a couple of months than have it outright die in a couple months and just say "well, we aren't turning that back on, sorry!".
The Playstation plus has nothing to do with Gravity 2 servers. It for access to online gameplay and other features. The fee is not there to prop up games Sony or otherwise. If a game does not do very well or is not getting the players what is the point in keeping the servers running?
I don't like this practice of shutting down servers, particularly on a game that will be 1 year old.
Personally, I think if I bought a game at full price at launch and have now found out that my product will not have some of the items it comes with, I might be a bit annoyed.
I would get it if we had changed gens or this game was a good few years old but, I mean, this game got good reviews and I am sure has lots of people who will still go to it.
wtf? they just increased the price for ps+ and now this?
Sony's done this before: announce a great Plus lineup of 'free' games one day, then drop some disappointing news the next.
Very unfortunate, I didn't get too far with this one but I loved the original and was going to play this when it came out (even bought it at full price) but then that long list of games in January/February this year all came out at once so I never sunk my teeth into it, liked what I played though.
More importantly, I think we can safely say this will become a trend with Sony first-party software that under-performs, which as a guy that tends to play niche games like this, doesn't excite me.
A. Because they can and they don't give a rat's ass.
@Turismo4GT Damage control is a common marketing tactic. You dont just throw out bad news after all.
@get2sammyb I aint saying its the sky falling down. Im trying to work out why. They'll never say why, obviously.
But again, this is a scenario that needs to stop, especially for recent titles, because there isnt an excuse if everyone else manages it. If it was a PS3 game? Yeah sure. Go ahead. But the game isnt even a year old. Its an unhealthy precedent to be setting for future first party titles that "underperform" as some here say.
Think I'll rush playing this then. I recall the original GR1 costume cost an obscene amount of tokens. Shame, really liked this game but I guess it didn't do well?
Whilst its never great to hear of a game's demise after such a short time, I really didn't think PS+ was for that. Obviously its a 'blackmail' charge to access all your games content and sweetened with the promise of free games and store discount.
If a game didn't sell well enough or being played often enough to warrant taking up Server 'space' then why keep them alive 'just in case'.
Of course from a gaming stand-point - especially if you were one of the few to have a copy or considering getting it at least, it is very disappointing news but Sony could have 'limited' servers/bandwidth and having this dedicated to game(s) no-one is playing (online at least) could be seen as a waste of resources. According to sales, just over a quarter of a million copies were sold globally with just over 100k of those in Japan (more than a third) and less than 5000 copies sold in the UK.
I don't know what investment Sony put into the development and marketing of the game, let alone the cost of maintaining and running the server for a year, but 260k sale may not of been 'profitable' or 'popular' enough to warrant maintaining servers.
Personally I can't comment on what the online functionality of this was. I don't know how much of a 'loss' online functionality is and whether or not, certain aspects - like costumes for example could be 'unlocked' permanently without the need for 'in-game' online based currency.
For fans of these games that have their 'online' component terminated after such a brief time, its obviously disappointing but Sony are a business and its a 'numbers' game. If not enough people are 'regularly' (if at all) playing these games to warrant keeping their 'servers' active, then Sony have to make a decision as to whether or not its worth keeping those servers active 'just in case' a few people want to play it or would be better to utilise those resources elsewhere. It may even be a case of Sony cutting there losses if the game wasn't profitable rather than ploughing money into running and maintaining servers and increasing those losses for the 'few' that bought the game.
Disappointing. Looks like I'll have to grind for those dusty tokens so I can get the rest of the rewards.
How have I still not played this?
It would be interesting to see how many people are actually playing GR2 online.
If its barely any then to be honest.. its fair enough.
I suspect probably a few tens of people playing it. Hardly worth the hassle of maintaining and keeping running.
Also might be worth noting. PS plus has nothing to do with the costs of game servers running so everyone should calm down with that.
@Quintumply Coz it's a pretty meh go here collect this go there collect that kind of game. Kat is pretty cool, though.
Ahhh... the good old analog days when we thought going digital would have meant more content for less money!
And I just realized I've 22 gigs of patches related to dlc content I'm not interested at the moment waiting in the donwload queue...
Had this game launched at $40 instead of $60 it would have done better. Or had they put it on sale more often. If it doesn't make money help it by promoting and discounting, not by punishing early adopters and discouraging would be buyers with decisions like this.
#For(someof)theplayers
Arrogant Sony... is back!
@get2sammyb It's what he does, any time there's something remotely negative about Sony he jumps to it like a moth to a flame, frankly I don't know why he comes here.
@solocapers From this article quoting Famitsu:
*Sony has explained why a PlayStation Plus subscription will be required to play PlayStation 4 titles online. In the latest issue of Famitsu (translated by Kotaku), Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida said that it would have been "absurd" to keep the service free, considering the "large investment of resources" Sony has made for online infrastructure.
"The main pillar for the PS4 will be online play. We're developing many new ways to play and connect which requires a large investment of resources," Yoshida said.
"Considering the cost, to try to keep such a service free and consequently lower the quality would be absurd. We decided that if that's the case, then it would be better to receive proper payment and continue to offer a good service." *

@b1ackjack_ps Yes i agree on that point or a way to download them.
@BLP_Software One question do you own the game or did you ever play it?
For a game that isn't even year old it is kinda bad, and while I know the game didn't sell well, still it's a bit of a kick in the teeth/
@sinalefa "If it doesn't make money help it by promoting and discounting"
This game was more forgotten than TLG, which they did make a big deal about the price cut fairly soon after release.
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2017/02/the_last_guardian_is_now_more_affordable_in_usa
I keep forgetting this game even exists as I make mental notes of my backlog - Witcher 3, RotTR, TLG. And I played the demo at PlayStation Experience (or whatever they called it) and was really looking forward to it, it was Bayonetta 3 to me. But silence since release. I don't think GR on PS4 ever even made it to PS+ as a marketing tool.
So I'm not surprised Sony is letting the servers die - I didn't even know it had an online component - but it's a bad precedent. I think anybody who purchased this game digitally on PSN should get $5 compensation to be honest, as a show of good faith for cutting out part of the game a year after release. People who bought it on disc at least have a case.
@Flaming_Kaiser Is playing this particular title in any way relevant to examining why they are shutting the servers and why it can be seen as a bit of a dodgy move given their previous stance?
@BLP_Software By that they mean PSN as a whole. Not individual game titles servers.
@get2sammyb this is exactly what my previous post is talking about. Games media is responsible/complicit for a lot of the mentality that exists today. The clickbait, end of the world write ups, makes gamers go mental and act like its the end if the world.
I guarantee you the supply chain of ppl subscribing to psplus had nithing to do with revenue or lack there of with gr2.
All of this dialogue is hypothetical and no one will learn officially. Its very toxic to throw this content out here and watch sh*t hit the fan among commentors. It happens in every pocket of gaming.
@Mikethemosher The apocalyptic reaction from some in this thread is not on us. The article is measured, in my opinion. It's critical — I believe this should be criticised — but it's not over-the-top. I can't control how other people react.
@Mikethemosher Aren't you exaggerating here. Sure, clickbait is a problem in today's (gaming) journalism, but I visit Push Square because of their more nuanced perspective.
I still haven't played this yet but I'm sure I'll enjoy it without the online part. No biggie, to me at least.
and this is why single player games shouldn't have functions that are reliant on a multiplayer/online function
of course they could just give EVERYONE access to all the stuff it locks out
@get2sammyb @Mikethemosher To be fair, the article title is a question, and here we are discussing it
Responsible journalism doesnt just say "guys we have a problem, how can this be justified?" They back up claims with evidence, facts, andbif possible expert opinions or statements.
Some newspapers do the same ****... liberals increasing taxes, whats next? Its not constructive.
Be the change you want to see.
You dont know the behind the scenes model for what keeps the lights on under performing games. Do the research, and if there are things to be criticized about sony rather than finger pointing or complaining then we've got a leg to stand on. Otherwise it comes across unfounded.
I'm in a pickle here. On the hand I want to go out to buy GR2 right now, to play the game with all of its features. On the other hand I don't want to support this practice...
@BLP_Software ya discussing it.. but its like crackpot ideas or guesses of why it occurs. No one here in the comments thread knows the whole story. The article is incomplete without it.
@get2sammyb you cant control how others react but thats how journalism works. Your words will have impact. Theyre not produced in a vacuum. Ppl react based on the picture that is painted.
@Cassetticons "Think I'll rush playing this then." I see what you did there.
An exact example of why so many (me included) don't like online features and online only games as they become defunct.
I agree with Sammy. This is a bad move by Sony, especially after they've just increased PS+ by £10 a year!
Sony you *******! Why you do this? You raise your playstation+ prices and then you shut servers. This is not going to be good, Sony stop being SH!T
@Mikethemosher I think the point is if you buy a product you expect to get 100% of it. GR2 now won't be that.
If Sony and the developers want to include online features then they should stand by them as it's part of their product. Not cut them off if the product doesn't sell to expectations as you are taking away value from paying customers. They made their bed they need to lye in it.
I intended to still buy GR2 at some point but now knowing I only get 95% of it I'm not so sure.
Is there still japan serves or something????
Okay, can we watch the swearing, please?
@Dodoo It's just few costumes. Buy it, please. It's really a nice game!
@NexusFlar3 Yeah I probably will as I completed the first game and enjoyed it. It's just these kind of things don't sit well with me...
@BLP_Software You are like a bull in a Chinashop its not good but come on.
I would love to know how many of the people who go beserk even own the game. This great game and no one got it. The people who where early adopters got the best game in the end. This is somehow the way it should work not the other way around. Maybe the should redo the the model start with €30 edition so you get the basic thing and buy the extra's and in the end get a more expensive complete edition with everthing then you can kill the preorder at the same time.
@Mikethemosher The header makes it an easy rage article.
@starhops Bpws
Thanks, I'll be here all week, try the veal!
I was interested in getting this game, but dodgy practices like this will just make me less likely to get it.
@kyleforrester87 Maybe we can put up a group for the dusty tokens but its better if they put them in the game with unlocks.
Thats exactly the problem of our time: we can not play many of our games in ten years time, at least not in its full spectrum.
@Turniplord No there is not
That's unfortunate and what makes it worse is that something like this is starting to become the norm. What I find the most shocking is that it's a First party exclusive, (granted, not as popular as it's contemporaries), but Gravity Rush 2 still was a game that had a lot of work put into it, even if the online mode is just a small part of the game. On the Brightside at least it doesn't effect the trophies.
I would've bought it if they had released the game on Vita like they originally were going to. I will never reward Sony abandoning that platform.
Sucks but not surprising, doubt this game even broke 500K sales. No company would keep the game alive in that case. Hopefully Sony will make the costumes tied to in-game currency available by different means.
@Gatatog Oh god, I hope not. Everybody's Golf is one of my favorite game of 2017, and shutting its servers is like killing Battlefield 1's servers.
It's funny how a few on here are saying they "were intending to buy GR2 but now might not now" well if they got the game when it came out then maybe the servers wouldn't be shut off. That's the risk you take with this "wait for a sale" attitude.
@wakkawakka Gravity Rush 2 was too ambitious for Vita, at least we got a much bigger and better game in the end.
@SwitchGlitch Yet you take time to comment on a PlayStation themed site regardless.
As odd as it sounds, I got a lot of play time out of those treasure hunts. A stupid amount of time. Same goes to the picture taking and sharing. This is an honest bummer.
That's somewhat frustrating given the time-frame involved. Still intend to pick this game up at some point having enjoyed the first one, and when I do so no doubt it will be at a vastly reduced price so I can make my peace with a slightly reduced package. Still those who paid full price and dip in from time to time purely for the online component will be, and should feel aggrieved.
GR2 no doubt suffered from it being one of them games just below the level of top wanted games, of which it has been a very good year continuously. I wanted it but always seemed to be something I wanted that bit more.
@SwitchGlitch Welcome to console gaming! I personally hate Nintendo as a company but they are popular and relevant right now so i cant ignore them. Thankfully i dont NEED to play any of their games but i understand your plight.
@adf86 I agree with literally EVERYTHING you said.
And for the record i bought and played GR2 at launch.
@adf86 Seems like an online mode for Gravity Rush 2 was too ambitious amirite.
Funny thing is, almost all of the reviews for GR2 dock it for being a big bloated game. Had it been designed for a lower spec platform, not only would it have come out earlier (the original Vita oriented version of GR2 was showcased at TGS 2013), been cheaper to develop, it probably would've been better. It might have even sold better (at least relative to its budget) since GR2 would've been one of the last first party Vita games and it would've been a big release for the platform. Instead, it became an entry in the PS4 list wars no one bought.
@wakkawakka Sorry I disagree, the first game suffered through awkward controls due to having to use the back touchpad and and the small screen did the combat and camera no favours either. At least on PS4 we got locations that were all seamlessly connected that you could fly too without having to jump on trains or fast travel through manhole covers like the first game did, and the bigger screen made combat much less frustrating too.
Oh no, this is probably my fault for not paying for my gaming tax. Sorry, I mean for PSPlus.
Oh....... sigh..., This is one of the games I want to buy when I get one PS4, well, still is in my top list, but is sad that maybe I won't enjoy the online features, well.
@kidfried Yeah I'm with you, this was on my short list of possible buys this weekend. But now I'm torn. Well, we can always hope that it will now go on sale for a large discount. I think I'll wait for that inevitability now.
@adf86
Exactly. I love how often it seems to happen when a game's servers get shutdown or something else happens and then all these people come out of the wood work with 'was going to get it but not now.' Were going to get it? I mean if something else came up that's fine, and I know everybody (me included) has financial constraints and sometimes it can be tough to fit gaming into that, so if you wait for a sale or whatever, by all means that's not a big deal. But don't b*tch when a company shuts down servers for a game that only about 200K of us bought. I got it day one, if anybody should be ticked it's me and the people who supported the game out of the gate but you also have to understand businesses and how they work.
@Gamer83 Exactly! The game has been out almost 9months now. MOST of the ppl who were going to buy it have done so by now. If that number of ppl doesnt justify keeping the servers running past Jan 2018 its on us not the publisher.
And lets not pretend that this is some great loss to the gameplay or those of us who own the game. I havent gone back to GR2 in about 4 months. And i loved the game. And when i do go back to it it wont be fore the online features tbh.
@3Above
I didn't really bother much with the online features if I'm honest. They were cool but, I agree, definitely not super integral to the game. It's a disappointment for those who did like the online features but unfortunately the game didn't sell and last I checked it did a shameful 60K in North America. So, thems the breaks...
@wakkawakka Yeah yeah a psvita which even less people would have bought was better. Why do you think they made the game for the PS4 the psvita does not sell same goes for the few games. Even the great games dont sell i remember a certain game which needed a retail release and when we got it no one bought it.....
@SwitchGlitch It's funny you say that, because I despise Nintendo as a company. The reason why I haven't purchased a device of theirs since the Wii.
Makes me sick that I have to buy the Switch to play Breath of the Wild one day and hope they port Bayonetta 2.
You do realise that all these companies employ 'shady'/unethical tactics. That's how they stay on top. I would argue Nintendo are far worse than Sony, but then again I'm biased.
We are nothing but numbers to these corporations.
They better make the unlockable content available to everyone, but seeing how they're increasing the Dusty Tokens, I think that's unlikely. And this is the issue with modern games, even if it's small stuff like costumes in GR2, you're still missing out on stuff once they close the servers down.
IMO, if you decide on including online functionality, let the servers run for at least five years, regardless of how well the game sells. I'd also like to see the ability to set up our own servers, you know the P2P we've already been doing for nearly all of our games. That could help alleviate the issue too, if Sony doesn't want to run the servers, let the fans run the servers. It's not that expensive.
And they're making million off PS+, so it's not like they can't afford it. PS+ isn't a way to cover their server costs, it's an income stream.
@QwertyQwerty You don't need PS+ for GR2, but it's not as if the GR2 servers are expensive to run. It's not a multiplayer game, this is online leaderboards calibre. And like a said, PS+ is a huge income for them, it was more profitable than the entirety of Nintendo in 2016(!!!). It's not as if they can't spare a few bucks every month to keep this up and running.
It was their decision to include online features in this game and locking collectibles behind said feature, knowing very well the first game bombed on the Vita and on the PS4, while not marketing the sequel. Did they really expect this game to sell millions?
Now they're essentially putting the blame on the customers, the people who did buy the game. Not a great move IMO.
@Octane Well this is where we will see if THAT many ppl are actually still playing the game. They increased the dusty tokens so it would be easier to get the costumes. Utimately they want ppl to play the game otherwise they'd give the costumes away free. But if no one is playing it then it just a waste. Which proves the point that they should shut down the servers. Out of all the comments here i dont think one person has said they are actively playing GR2 right now. Most of the complaints are from ppl who dont even own the game.
@3Above Well, I am playing it currently...
I still need to play it. I wanted to finish remastered one first and a million other games. How much server space is that game using?
Many ppl say that "I still need to play this later" ...do it now! We can still support them, and this is the problem if you don't know whether to buy it or not.
@Octane I stand corrected
@SwitchGlitch Typical, you can't have an opinion these days without the "fanboy" insult coming your way.
@Th3solution So you want me to believe that you where going to buy this game at the exact time of this news.... yeah sure.
@Octane I hope they just put a patch with a full unlock for the costumes. I bought the game Day 1 but i have a massive backlog better start it up then.
@Flaming_Kaiser Dude, why throwing shade? You don't have to believe me because I have proof.
Allow me to present my evidence — If you check the forums under the category "PS4 recommendation thread" on this very site, I posted the following (comment #467 on that thread) on Tuesday evening (at least here in NA it was Tues eve. There is a time stamp on the post that should show the time of the post depending where you live) and I quote myself: "Okay, so I have a 'buy 2, get one free' coupon that I can use, so here are a list of some games I've been considering. But I need to pick just 3. Which 3?
Witcher 3, Gravity Rush 2, ME: Andromeda, The Last Guardian, Yakuza 0, Doom, Watch Dogs 2, and Assassin's Creed Syndicate."
Not too long after I posted that question, you'll find that @KratosMD replied to my post recommending, in fact, that Gravity Rush 2 be one of the three games I buy. I respect his opinion, so the game moved up a couple notches in my head.
Then about a day and a half later, Thursday morning in NA (check the time stamp up top) this article was posted. Shortly after it was posted, I made the comment here: "... this was on my short list of possible buys his weekend ..."
So you'll see, your honor, this very website has indisputable evidence that indeed, I was considering buying this game in the near future. If it please the court, I rest my case. 😉
@SwitchGlitch Well maybe next time don't makes comments like "I haven't got a PS4 because I despise Sony as a company" like you got some kind personal vendetta against them, then maybe your opinion will be taken more seriously.
@Th3solution Not gonna lie i didnt believe you at first either. But that was very convincing. Excellent work! Case Dismissed.
@Kidfried @3Above @Flaming_Kaiser By way of follow up, I went to the game retailer today and came home a little lighter in the wallet, but with Gravity Rush 2 in hand (and Yakuza 0 and The Last Guardian as well, but I digress) — in the end, the server shutting down may have given me a small nudge for me to play it now versus later. I weighed the possibility of buying it next year or sometime down the road after the inevitable price drop, vs. being able to play now and get the full experience. In the end, I succumbed. Now I just gotta work through a bit of the backlog so I can put it in the rotation within the next 3 months.
I wonder if there are many like me who will get the game now rather than waiting, due to this announcement and if the servers will show a spike in activity. Maybe enough to convince Sony to keep them going for longer. 🤞🏼
@Th3solution Nice!!! Its a good Game you will like. Excellent choices with Yakuza and TLG (the latter or which i need to finish) . I Thought GR2 was already discounted to $40 from full price or am i imagining that?
@3Above At the game retailer for a new copy it was $39.99 as of yesterday. (As was Yak0 and TLG, actually. All 3 of those are the discounted price now.) But I wonder if we see GR2 going down to $29.99 early next year.
