Re: Opinion: If Sony's Doubling Down on Its Most Popular Franchises, Where's Uncharted?

Yeah, I think I heard it just last week on Jeff Gerstmans podcast. He didn't go into huge detail. From memory he was emphasising how weird expectations can be. He might have been recalling back to the original trilogy as well, again, it was an aside and not very detailed. Those later numbers seem pretty healthy though for sure.

It's kind of hard to call. I think a new Uncharted would do well but maybe in their minds they're thinking one; who will make it? Two; will they be able to make something that lives up to the IP's legacy? And three; how much will it cost? The AAA landscape is so drastically different now. The costs are huge and seemingly things have changed now but up until recently Sony was fixated on that live game money, rather than the modest roi you get from a single player game.

It could simply be that they will get there with Uncharted but it's just taking them time to move the boat around after they've recently changed strategies. It is a very big boat.

Re: Shocking: PlayStation Studios Are Hiring for New Games

I find it pretty disgusting that they can fold a studio one week and start a hiring spree the next. I understand studios are located in different places and there's no doubt many other factors but in my mind these jobs should have been offered to the employees that were recently made redundant and could fill the positions. Perhaps it wouldn't be as efficient and would come with downsides but idk, they're your employees. Maybe try and look out for them...

It's honestly scary to me how little humanity exists in the corporate world.

Didn't Uncharted sales always kind of disappoint Sony? Not in the sense they were bad, clearly they weren't because they made a few of them. More in the greedy corporate sense. The sales were good but not blowing their socks off basically.

Essentially it was a tent poll series for them and the PS3 at a time they didn't have many of those (and still had competition). They've since come up with a handful of viable IP's and there's not much competition hardware wise. Perhaps they just don't think the roi will be great enough for Uncharted given the cost of such a game and yeah, they don't really need software to sell PS5s do they? They kind of just sell.

Re: PSA: This Is Your Last Chance to Grab Yakuza 3 Remastered Before Its Ridiculous Removal

Man, getting hit with some serious fomo here. Yakuza 3 was the first I played in the series so I'd like to have it (on a system I have plugged in). They really should have given a good discount on it at minimum before they put it out to pasture. All the other ones are 50% off atm. Why not just put it in the Feb sale and then kill it. Obviously they shouldn't take it off the store at all but we're not winning that battle.

Will probably give in. Annoying but what can you do. I presume all our current stuff will be playable on the next system so at least I won't be stuck with only having it on PS3.

Re: Marvel Cosmic Invasion's Huge Update Includes Free New Colour Swaps on PS5, PS4

MetalGear_Yoshi

It's a sad testament to the state of the industry that some palette swaps have to be singled out and confirmed to be free in an update.

Not hating. It's great they're not money grabbing on the most rudimentary changes. Good for them. Tbh it seems like the kind of game that can be easily monetised in ways that offer value to consumers. More characters and levels etc. That they're not selling colour swaps is a good sign that potential dlc may actually be substantial which is cool.

Re: Publisher Nexon Investigating Cause of The Finals' 'Lower-Than-Expected' Performance

I played it and really didn't get the hype. Lots of people were singing it's praises though but it's a crowded market to break into. Why would anyone choose this game over any other? For a couple of weekends while the game is hot, sure, but what's there to keep them coming back? They were naive if they thought they wouldn't have to do something special to maintain people's interest over established titles and the next new game.

Did the UI guy at Atlus quit a decade ago and they just keep using his stuff or does he have the same work ethic as I do? /jk

Not a big Persona guy but really liked the look of this one. Liked the look of most of the Personas too until I play them and realise it's just not my thing though so we'll see how it goes. Maybe a different theme is what I need to get me into their stuff.
