If you're a fan of Sonic the Hedgehog, chances are you enjoy games that play at intense speeds and provide a real sense of forward momentum. Well, a lesser-known game singing from that same hymn sheet is bound for PS5, and it looks like it's worth your attention.
It's called Haste, and while it's yet to be officially announced for PS5, its Trophy list recently popped up on Exophase, which pretty much confirms it.
Here's a gameplay trailer to give you the idea:
While it does have some things in common with Sonic, Haste is doing quite a lot to differentiate itself.

You run, jump, and glide through procedurally generated environments, avoiding hazards and going as fast as possible as the world collapses behind you.
It's a roguelite, and between sets of levels you're able to spend an in-game resource on incremental buffs and new equipment to improve your chances.
There are various worlds to blitz through, each with their own obstacles and huge boss fights.
The Trophies appear to be fairly straightforward, though the jury's out on just how challenging some of them will be.
The game launched on Steam last year, where it's enjoyed a consistent Very Positive user score with thousands of reviews.
Obviously this doesn't quite fill the hedgehog-shaped gap in our lives, but Haste looks like it'll deliver some high-speed thrills in the meantime. We expect an official announcement is on the way soon.

Real talk, I would rather then just remade Sonic adventures 1 & 2, after playing Sonic frontiers I have come to conclusion I just don't like the new games.
Looks like it could be fun, but will come down to how well it controls and if it can keep level design and gameplay interesting. Will keep an eye on it.
Not sure about the art style or look of the levels personally.
May check it out down the line
I played the demo on Steam and hated the way it felt to play. If the user reviews are anything to go by I'm in the minority though, so make of that what you will.
If you liked Denshattack’s demo as the Sega you wished we had now, you’ll like Haste too. It was one of those games that I could tell had relatively strong quality as an indie release when I had played it on Steam, even if ultimately it wasn’t a game for me, personally. I don’t always click with roguelikes and am perhaps burnt out of the genre, but I can tell a good one when I see and play one, and I do think this one deserves fans. I think a lot of people will like this one. It’s another one of those games that channels Sega Saturn/Dreamcast energy and modernizes it.
Looks okay I guess. I don't really like the art.
