Call of Duty

"In Black Ops 7, bundles and items will be crafted to fit the Black Ops identity. We hear the feedback. We need to deliver a better balance toward the immersive, core Call of Duty experience," a Call of Duty blog post explained in the lead-up to launch.

Now, less than five months after release, the controversial comedian Dave Chappelle is being added to the game.

He will arrive as part of a bundle celebrating 4/20 later this month, though Activision says it's scaling back how it marks the day this year. There'll be a selection of purchasable items themed around the 1998 comedy movie Half Baked, which Chapelle starred in.

Of course, in response to the new Operator bundle, Call of Duty fans have brought receipts, responding to various posts highlighting how Black Ops 7 skins were meant to "fit the Black Ops identity".

While it was never said these kinds of collaborations with real-life people and media IPs would end, Black Ops 7 and Warzone had been doing a fairly acceptable job of sticking to its promise up until now. It had collaborations with Fallout as season two of the TV show dropped, but this made sense due to the video game ties.

Now, however, controversial comedian Dave Chappelle is going to be in the game soon. What do you make of this? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
