To be fair, the guy who paid the 1300 for an early copy said it was a great game, and that is before this patch which is supposed to be fairly hefty. Hello games even tweeted that they added in more color variation in the patch, along with more content, bug fixing, etc, seems like the right thing to do if the patch is intended to straighten things up.
I never consider a season pass until I have actually played the game. Sometimes I love a game but still don't buy the pass, because I feel like I am finished after I have beaten it. To often this extra content just feels tacked on and inconsequential.
My son and I have been having a great time playing this one. THE Coop really is such a treat, and makes the game that much more enjoyable. I recommend everyone who bought this to give it a try with coop a time or to, completely changes your strategy in game.
Hard to tell where the fault lies with this one. It feels like some sort of paid for exclusivity deal with Microsoft that they don't want to talk about.
Was keeping up with this yesterday as it was happening. Most thought it a hoax until he was able to prove it with the box and disc and everything else. A shame really because I want to watch but just can't do it.
Completely agree with this, been playing every night since Tuesday and have loved every second. Figured out last night that my son could also get involved in the action. Fire up the 2nd controller and sacrifice one health bar and another drifter joins the fray. The co-op is AMAZING, and some battles feel unbeatable without that coop help! Everyone needs to give this a go.
@GraveLordXD Yes, it can be played completely offline, it's just that your discoveries won't load up for everyone else to see and you won't see anyone else's discoveries.
Check out the reddit on NMS. A guy got a copy early and sold it for 1250, someone actually paid that for a copy less than two weeks early. They streamed 7 minites on twitch before being banned. Everyone who say it says that gamers are going to be very happy with the final product. Said people should expect putting in some work before they can fly into space....
I personally don't care what anyone else thinks about NMS. I have seen enough trailers and read enough from Sean thst I KNOW it will be fun for me. Plus that ps4 limited edition was just to sweet to pass up!!!
@kyleforrester87 You mean you haven't already pre-ordered?? Not sure what country you are in but at my local gamestop the guy said they are expecting physical copies to be very hard to find the first few days, maybe on the second shipment it will ease up some. I say if you like everything you see in the trailers and you know you will eventually get it anyways, why not preorder? You can always cancel a preorder within 3 days after launch, plenty of time to read reviews, and reserve yourself a copy just in case you decide you have to have it.
Common misconception is that you travel to the center of the universe. Sean has stated several times that everyone will start in the same galaxy, and the goal will be for everyone to reach the center of that galaxy. I have been speculating that if you reach the center of the initial galaxy you will gain the technology needed to travel even further, to the billions of other galaxies. Pretty cool imo.
Pretty forgettable month IMO, but that is to be expected considering how good the last few months have been. Would have been cool to see Hyper Light Drifter up there(my avatar), even though I purchased it this past Tuesday I wouldn't mind seeing it go free on plus just so more people will give it a shot. Such a GREAT game, an action/adventure throwback. If this game would have released back in the NES days we would be talking about its legendary status today, it really is that good. And the soundtrack...simply amazing
I liked this video, but I really loved the trade video. pretty good idea to hit the four pillars of the game to give those that still don't understand the game something to chew on. Cannot wait for this and playing Hyper LIGHT Drifter in the mean time.
Great watch, as always guys. I appreciate your list of the 20 best ps4 games thus far. I expect that list to be changing quite a bit by the end of the year. Your top 20 hits all major genres, and really shows off the diversity of games available for ps4.
Never cared for the cast statues and plastic trinkets in the special editions. I was always more a fan of art books, posters, a steel case...maybe some stickers...lol
From what Sean has said every player will start out at different ends of the SAME GALAXY. As we all work our way towards the center of that initial galaxy I believe running into other people may become more of a likelihood. I also think that you will receive ship upgrades closer to the center of the galaxy that will allow you to travel to all the other millions of galaxies in the game. Maybe getting to the center of the initial galaxy is just a jumping off point for all players to go fly to their own new galaxy.
I for one think it is great. In a world of sequels and endless remakes we need people like Kojima, willing to exercise their creativity and make something completely new. Do you really want another watered down, third person shooter? Let the man work.
Maybe he doesn't want to cave and accept a ton of money from Sony or other big publishers for his new game. Make toys, sell toys, not owe a ton to the big publishing company and keep a modicum of independence. Seems smart.
@adf86 Agreed. I saw some people complaining that they went the Destiny route in regards to the US and inventory, but that was one of the things go I liked best about Destiny. Borrowing things that are good from previous games has always happened, and I think was the right choice in this case.
I think there will be more of a story than what is being told right now. Sean has stated over and over they will not divulge to mucj because that would take away from the mystery and wonder of the game. There will definitely be an over arching lore or story tied to the sentinels, the atlas, their purpose in the universe and the players purpose for reaching the center and why they were dropped in a life pod on the starter planet. All of this is being purposely hidden as to not spoil the secrets. I for one am glad it is a mystery because I would rather learn all this myself.
I have to say that is the best of the trailers released amongst the four so far. Showed some really cool stuff, and the trading mechanic seems to be much more in depth that I previously thought. Super Hype
Hmm, good list overall. Journey would have been number 1 for me a few years ago, now without an active online audience, meh. I think NMS will take the top spot soon enough:)
Someone in marketing thought they didn't have quite enough in the collectors edition, so they said throw in some Japanese voice overs to finish out the list! lames
I feel like when a game gives you a standard "good" or "bad" dialogue option, it almost always hinders you to choose the bad. Less quests open up, etc. I hope this is a little more in depth than good or bad.
@LieutenantFatman Normal 60 bucks brand new, or you could swing for the 79.99 limited edition, probably one of the best limited editions I have ever seen considering the price and how much you get with it.
Great news! I found it oddly curious that the PS4 was left out initially, as in why would a Dev purposefully exclude the console that games sell best on? Then I though maybe Microsoft had a hand in it, but all my paranoia aside we are getting the port. For this one millisecond all is right in the gaming world. And that's over.
Great pod as always guys. As far as the hype surrounding NMS is concerned, I do not think a singular answer will work. For some people, like myself, it will most certainly live up to the hype. We have done our homework, know that the game is something we like and have our expectations in check. For others, it will most certainly not live up to the hype. For whatever reason I have noticed that with this game in particular there are a TON of misconceptions floating around. So any people are completely misinformed about what the devs have promised and what the game will be. Those who are expecting much more than what all the videos tell us the game will offer are certainly doomed for failure. I do think it will go down as the biggest Indy console hit thus far.
@kyleforrester87 Well I have read that 26th date at several locations, I tend to trust it, but not sure of the 26th is world wide. You can tell by my avatar I am eagerly awaiting it's release! iam8bit.com has a t-shirt for sale of hyper light drifter that is the same as my avatar, totally worth 24 imo
Does anyone know when Hyper Light Drifter is gonna show up on the US PSN? I thought for sure it would be there today for available pre-order, but alas, nothing. Is it still releasing on the 26th in the states? Was hoping there would be some kind of pre-order deal, have you guys seen the limited edition for it? Comes with a Light Blue colored Hyper Light DRIFTER SNES cartridge!
Never played the first two but would be willing to give it a go if it gets great reviews. These days there are just to many great games to settle for a good game, lol.
Meh, not enough to make me consider paying full price for a game that is a year old. To many other great games releasing around the same time and you just know TR will be down to 20-30 bucks in no time at all. I can wait.
Real problem here is exactly what happened to the game when it released on the X1, to much competition. There are more games than I can even remember releasing between August and November, and some really great, long awaited, games mixed in there as well. Seems like really stupid timing IMO.
@BrizzoUK This exactly. Irregardless if it is considered a "new" release on ps4, it is still a year old game. A game that can bought used for 30 dollars or less. The real question here is why isn't SE pricing this thing at 39.99. I have to imagine almost everyone already knows this is just a re-release of the X1 game, and it is entering a VERY crowded gaming period. Show that you still care about your PS fans SE and make it 39.99 brand new and I bet it would sell a few milli9n copies on PS4. Full priced, be lucky to get to half a million, imo.
I have to say my hype has dropped significantly for this one. Since I can usually only stomach one major JRPG a year(due to time constraints), and with FF15 looking incredible as of late, I may have to put this on the back burner for awhile. Just to many great games releasing August through November.
@ApostateMage Bahahahaha I was going to reply something very similar to this! A REAL universe to travel, not set locations on a star chart to travel to.
Not sure, have take quite the gaming break as of late, I want to play something but haven't felt inspired enough to do so. Really can't wait for Hyper Light Drifter and of course NMS, but until then I just don't know. Was thinking of picking up Aliennation, what do you guys think of it, and any other recommendations?
If they want the PSVR to be successful, it certainly won't be through advertising it as best played through the ps4k. The one advantage Sony has I'd this thing works with the ps4, a console that will have over 50 million units in the wild by the time the PSVR launches. I bet their aren't even 20 million capable gaming PCs out there to properly run the Vive or Rift, and they have to SHARE that market. I actually think the PSVR will do really well in the US, especially at Christmas time. Millions of owners have had their ps4 over a year or more now and are itching for that new experience that is easily compatible with their current hardware without having to upgrade. Plus, Sony has the ability to get AAA developers on board, and that is the most important thing at this point. RE7, Battlefront, Ark ham, No Man's Sky, etc will be what makes or breaks this piece of tech, an most of those games I listed are exclusive to the Morpheus. It also helps that it has the second screen viewing, theatre mode, and that the majority of the games will be compatible with the stock DS4. They have done almost everyrhing right with PSVR thus far, let's see how well it does.
@get2sammyb Is this available for pre-order on the US PSN, I cannot seem to find anything about it on there. Been really looking forward to this but I don't even see where they show it releasing on the 26th or anything, is it just EU?
The speculation is that the Scorpio will run close to 600 at launch, if that is the case then I imagine it will never catch on quite the way Microsoft wants it to. Once again the ps4k will be cheaper and still allow 4k compatibility, that is what the average consumer cares about. I also have a feeling that the ps5 will release not to long after the Scorpio, with better specs and probably a cheaper price. Sony has a distinct advantage with hardware being able to produce consoles at a cheaper price but still maintaining competitive balance with microsoft.
