Maybe I am just tired or maybe my understanding of international localization pricing is misconstrued, but why would they NOT release this worldwide? It seems to be hugely popular, with a rabid fan base and some main stream appeal. What is the point in only releasing in Japan initially other than just to get some profit out of it first?
I think Sony decided that with it being priced some 20 dollars cheaper than other new games and a movie it didn't need as much advertising. If it is at the top spot for two weeks, seems they were right. How much better does anyone really think it could have done?
I was definitely put off by the constricting level design in the first one, hope this improves that. Really though I think we all just the next real DQ game, whatever number it is lol.
@SoulsBourne128 Yep this exactly. Many have all but forgotten the roots of the Souls series, Kings Field. While it had some design issues, it was still HIGHLY underrated. Difficult? Kings Field did difficult well before Demons Souls was a though in anyone's mind. Absolutely loved the Kings Fields games and being first person makes me think a complete kings field reboot would be absolutely amazing in VR. Of course the obvious choice is a Mech Style game, which would certainly work well in VR, but considering their recent success in the fantasy themed genre I think Kings Field would be the better choice for their current rabid fan base.
Already got mine preordered and I have a camera and two move controllers waiting! October can't come fast enough, but for now I am waiting on June 21st and my limited edition No Man's Sky.
Definitely liked last month's choices better, but glad they are starting to spice it up with different genres to appeal to different types of gamers. I guess I am one of the few that doesn't care if their isn't a game if I like every month lol.
Although I trust Super Giant and really loved Transistor, I need to see more and understand more of this before I can say it is a buy for me. The arena sport aspect really through me off but I am starting to see how could become very compelling. My main worry right now is it a one off experience, or will there be enough variation to want to an through it more than once?
@Gamer83 The local gamestop near me has a Ratchet poster up right now, on the front door of all places. I have especially seen it on the internet many times. Could it have used a little more advertising? Probably, but I think the movie will be the big advertisement for it and they also dropped alot of money to make it as well.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi I don't know man, who knows what all he can actually heal from? Maybe his brain would just grow back brand new, with no knowledge or memories. Best thing to do with old Wolverine is drop him in liquid nitrogen for all eternity, lol.
It is a drag that it isn't releasing with coop but awesome that they are adding it in, and relatively quickly from what it seems. Housemarque is an impressive group, and they almost always deliver.
Would be really jazzed if it was Shadow Complex, never played it before and it looks really awesome. Not sure about the rest but I do have a feeling of we don't get Shadow Complex then we may get another AAA. I have been hearing Killzone thrown around, so who knows.
@JaxonH And No Man's Sky in June!
@goonow Don't start a flame war mate, most don't appreciate that kind of talk around here. Just a word of advice, no ill will intended.
Anyways, I watched the last trailer with the jeep, and wow, completely blown away with how this game has come together. Will definitely be the biggest and best Uncharted to date, and maybe ever if Naughty Dog really makes this the last one that they produce. What an outstanding time to be a gamer! Ratchet, UC4, DS3, Division, Hyper Light Drifter, and of course the big one for me, No Man's Sky! Then we still have FF15, Horizon, PSVR, NX and much more possibly this year! Several years back I thought console gaming had hit its prime and was entering it's twilight years, boy how wrong I was!
@get2sammyb yea I have done dex builds in the past installments buy it still doesn't come close to matching the fluidity and aggressiveness of Bloodbornes combat. Guess it spoiled me for now, and I just a little burnt out on the souls series, they have really been pumping them out especially if you add Bloodborne to the mix!
Good job guys, and a good podcast! For me, Ratchet is far more fun that the grind of DS3. I love the souls game but after Bloodborne I much prefer the faster pace of action and it has kinda ruined me on the souls games for awhile. In the meantime I will keep playing Ratchet with a huge smile on my face.
I personally rent games from playstation video all the time. It is very convenient and you don't have to worry about returning it and late fees. Plus, if it is a Sony produced movie it becomes available for rent or to own BEFORE it is available anywhere else. It's a really great service and my family loves it. I got to see Revenant in HD a full week before it hit rental thanks to playstation video, pretty cool if you ask me.
@Boerewors Completely agree with this sentiment. I find that a healthy mixture of AAA and innovative Indy really whets my gaming appetite the best. Cannot wait for Hyper Light Drifter!
Hmmmmmmm how about no. Maybe try and get the real game running smoothly on consoles before launching an arena style spin off. I guess they are desperate with cash with that huge settlement looming.
I am really looking forward to this game but at this point I feel like they need to stop talking about it for awhile. It almost feels over saturated, if that is possible in this modern age of gaming. I say keep it under wraps for a long while and then blast out a new trailer at E3 and let that simmer.
Never played it before but I do like a good SRPG on occassion. Sadly, my backlog is just to large at this point to even consider another game and I have both UC4 and No Man's Sky limited edition on preorder! I am currently running through challenge mode on Ratchet and Clank, and I have to say that Ratchet is an absolute blast and just pure fun. I recommend it to anyone who likes to have fun playing videogames.
Agree with everyone, these guys just deliver quality games and it is obvious they pour their heart and soul into their work. The animations are simply stunning, as I have said before it really is a great time to be a gamer.
Yea I gave them a shot last time with bound by flame, and it was close to being a total failure. Hopefully they have learned some from those mistakes and made this better for it, but we will see.
People have to realize that they are not going to show off all the coolest stuff and best planets that reside closer to the center of the galaxy. They need to keep things under wraps, not show it all before it even releases. What we do know is their will be some sort of chat system in game for friends, also some sort of sharing or trading mechanic, dog fights in space and above planets, fps sequences, crafting for upgrading your weapon, suit, and ship, space trading, space pirating, vast exploration above ground, below ground, and underwater, alien languages to learn, and finding and naming planets, animals, plants etc., and more things we don't know. What makes it cool is that you can achieve the goal of getting to the center in so many ways.
Sean previously stated that one person on the team spent their entire time traversing ONE planet to gain the elements needed to trade and upgrade their gear enough to travel deep into the universe. He admittedly said that would be a hard path to take but it is possible. Don't want to trade and search for material? Then you can buy a ship made for speed and fighting and attempt to steal everything you need from space freighters.
Wanna be an explorer? Then you can spend your time exploring new places and gaining the currency given for finding new blueprints to do your upgrades. The freedom is what makes this game great. It won't be for everyone and Sean has said that these 20 minute videos would represent almost 2 hours in real time playing. You have to make your ammo, your shield and everything, it is a survival sim. I for one am amped.
@BLPs shipping two versions will probably come down to the NEO version having better resolution and maybe more stable framerate, not really a big deal for developers. I imagine most won't even try to max out the ps4k and will continue to max out the original version as that is what most people will own.
Definitely my most hyped game of the year. This actually looks like some of the ign footage that has been releasing lately. Regardless, it's awesome and it gonna be great. Glad I was able to snag a limited edition for the ps4! Looks like Sean is getting a little tired of people asking what do you do in the game? Did you catch that eye roll? Lol. Literally more ways to play this and more things to do than most AAA games out there, not sure why people are worried there will be nothing to do in the game.
@ThroughTheIris56 I agree, the way they say it makes me think of vehicles in general, maybe will have a vehicle upgrading or vehicle building mechanic in i
After witnessing what Insomniac has been able to do in reinventing Ratchet for the ps4, I would much rather these games get complete make overs, not just better resolution etc. Either way I don't think I would bite on this particular, although I could see it landing on the NX, I have a feeling that console is going to be littered with ports of titles that were previously only on X1 and ps4. @get2sammyb Sammy, Sammy, Sammy, why didn't you tell us about your wonderful performing skills? Digging through the vaults of youtube turned up quite a gem, I must say I am feeling a little jealousy at the moment, bahahaha
@get2sammyb Just thought you should know Giuseppe is name dropping you(in a good way) over at Dualshockers.com concerning this very thing and the info you dug up. Another site I frequent much like this one. Good job mate:)
BTW, does anyone even know the last time Bend released a home console game? I swear I can't think of one for the ps3, but I could be wrong.
Could be really interesting if they can pull it all together, otherwise the whole zombie thing is so played out. Gonna have to be really good to stand out, we shall see.
This is VERY smart on gamestops part, they can see the writing on the wall. As things move more and more to digital they need a foot print there as well. Plus, they have signed some really good developers so as long as they keep from meddling and let these guys make the great games that we know they can then this could turn out well for everyone.
They do look good, but not on part with Ratchet and Clank. Those are so detailed backgrounds and environs! I know, I know different set up and star ocean is probably more open world in design, but backgrounds are backgrounds. Not sold on this yet, and with how good FF15 is coming along, I may just wait and get my jrpg fix when it releases.
