In case you hadn't noticed, mod support for Fallout 4 still hasn't arrived on Sony's system. Mods were originally intended to launch on PlayStation 4 back near the start of summer, but after hitting some sort of snag, the functionality was put on hold.
However, after about a month of silence, Bethesda has revealed that it's still working with Sony to try and get mods up and running on PS4. "The process is still under evaluation. As soon as we learn more, we will share news," reads a statement on Fallout's official Twitter account.
Essentially, it sounds as though mods are still stuck in limbo when it comes to Sony's platform, but at least the developer's spoken up about the situation. With any luck, we'll hear something a little more positive sooner rather than later.
Are you still looking forward to mods on PS4, or has the hype ship sailed? Avoid dodgy user created content in the comments section below.

Keep it i don't buy Bethesda games even with X86 console they can't make work. So Skyrim wont work on the PS4 also i guess?
I'm more worried about Nuke World then Mod's.
Bethesda Game Studios hates PlayStation. It's obvious at this point, right?
Damn Bethesda, what the hell.
@Flaming_Kaiser
I've heard it has something to do with the Sony propitiatory sound chip within the PS4 that acts as some sort of safety mechanism against piracy, which makes it difficult, or impossible, for the PS4 to read the Fallout 4 mod files that originated on the PC (at least correctly). XB1 doesn't have that feature, hence, no problems.
Sounds like a Sony issue, not a Bethsoft issue.
Sony aren't giving them money, Bethesda ain't working on s*** for them!
@get2sammyb more like just don't give a damn since Sony don't cough up the cash like MS.
Bethesda are just a holes. It's a shame I suppose but someone has to be.
If I can't make danse into buzz lightyear then I might as well through my PS4 in the trash.
Hard to tell where the fault lies with this one. It feels like some sort of paid for exclusivity deal with Microsoft that they don't want to talk about.
Sounds to me like Sony's at fault & has changed its mind about supporting mods. Not suprising at all.
Is it too hard to accept that the way the PS4 is built it prevents things the Xbox and PC can donly? I mean wii u owners have to put up with this crap all the time from third parties, even Microsoft does. Everyone gets it at some point because of some proprietary hardware snag that third parties don't want to work around or the first party isn't being helpful with.
Therefore I'll take the middle road.
Bethesda, learn how to finish a game and get it running properly if you're going to support the top selling system. You can get away with crap ports on lesser hardware but not here.
Sony, ffs learn from what making messy hardware did to the ps3. Please? I know your paranoid af about piracy after the PSP but your methods bit the Vita in the ass and it's currently left you behind your competitor and PC.
I can't believe you people are giving Bethesda Game Studios the benefit of the doubt when it's proven time and time again that it's unwilling to put the effort in on PlayStation platforms.
And if it is something on Sony's end, then you'd think it would have learned to stop overpromising on PlayStation platforms and underdelivering. Maybe it should have actually spoken to Sony about mods before saying they're coming.
@get2sammyb
Not everybody has to fall in-line with Push Square's opinions! You can blame them for PS3 optimization and releasing Far Harbor in its state, but this seems to be an oddball technical issue that really has no party to blame.
Sounds to me like B needs to say " we cannot do it due to the fact we didn't scope or fully understand what was required proir to us going to press. We based our press announcement on assumptions rather than facts". Instead of dumping their issues on Sony's system design and why should Sony change their system that works for everyone else.
Its just really poor change management.
This is clearly Bethesda's fault, they offered something that they clearly cannot deliver. Even if there are some problems at Sony's end, Bethesda should have done it's homework before making idle promises. Sony didn't promise mods, Bethesda did.
This has me a little worried about skyrim more than anything. I don't think that is worth full price without it.
@sub12 It's simple: don't promise the feature on PS4 until you're sure you can deliver it — especially when you have a track record on PlayStation like BGS.
I'm not fussed about mods for games but I just hope that Bethesda have Skyrim running smoothly on PS4.
If Skyrim doesn't work right on PS4 then I'm done with Bethesda on consoles.
@get2sammyb
Unforseen technicalities may be a possibility when trying to infuse PC created mods onto consoles for the very first time.
Maybe Bethesda should have hired you and then they would have had the smarts to forcast the error before it happened! Ohh wait, Bethesda just hates Sony, yup, that's it....
@sub12 Unforeseen technical issues always seem to occur in Bethesda's PlayStation games, and it's people like you making excuses for them all the time that allow them to get away with it.
Maybe they should have attempted to get it running before promising it. Certainly if I was attempting a ground-breaking feature like this, that's what I'd do.
@get2sammyb
Excuses? Although I praised Far Harbor for its gameplay content, I did say Ramsey was justified in his opinion that technical matters were the overriding issues for him. For me personally, the quality of the content would not have justified a 2, and looking at the other critic reviews of PS4 Far Harbor, I'm not the only one. But that's fine either way.
I think this should be looked at in a different light, it's literally the first time somebody has tried to bring over PC mods to the console ecosystem, and from the sound of it, it would work if it wasn't for Sony installed security measures that were not a issue (or perhaps not known about) when previously working on Fallout 4.
You guys act like Bethesda has a vendetta against Sony, and yeah, Bethesda deserves blame for prior screw ups......but obviously they don't have a personal mission to piss off Playstation owners.
SO THE ONLY way around this is to let ps4 players make mods on ps4 like pc.
