I have to say no to this. IMO square needs to focus ALL of their time finishing up FF15 and figuring out what they are going to do with the new Kingdom Hearts and of.course the new mainline Dragon Quest. All these little remakes and ports just prolong the time it takes for them to release their current new games. Plus, it wasn't that good to begin with, lol.
@SegaBlueSky Totally agree man. When you look at titles like the Witness and No Man's Sky Indy does not come to my mind. What I like is that these games and developers attempt new things and take risks not commonly seen in the AAA realm. Of course there are just as many bad Indy titles, it is to be expected considering the production values, but there are good ones as well.
@themcnoisy Exactly this, and this generation has been far worse in that regard than any before it. Dying Light, Witcher 3, Evolve, Battlefront, Fallout 4 etc. Some don't wait quite as long (Fallout4) but it is still a long await nonetheless considering the pace that new games are releasing these days. The worst of it all is when a game doesn't truly get good or hit its stride until a year or more in, like Diablo 3 and some others. I'm glad that those that enjoy DLC and the continuation of a favorite game get that, but for me it is usually worthless.
@themcnoisy Yep, I know the reasons why they do it, just for me personally I have usually moved on to the next new game and can't be bothered with it anyway.
Seems to have a Hyper Light Drifter vibe as far as the visuals and accompanying awesome sound track goes. Combat seems a somewhat similar as well. Maybe I will check it out, I have no problem giving Indy games a try, especially since I usually get some free every month:).
@sub12 Yea I generally can't be bothered by DLC and the like, unless it is one of those rare games that just really sits well with me. Most of the time though I would rather the publisher be working on a sequel or a new IP instead of stringing along DLC and expansions for a year or more. Especially since they usually aren't that great, barring a few exceptions.
To be honest, when expansions release a year or more after a game releases it usually is very hard for me to get back into it, especially considering all the great games releasing all the time now for ps4.
@PacificMustang Wow, you make it sound awesome! Need to give it a try! The combat also looks to have a hyper light drifter feel to it, and I am definitely down with that.
Yea same here, I had a ridiculously amount of game on my ps1 but not this one. Could be cool if suppose, but not cool enough to convince me to throw my money into something that I have absolutely no idea if I will get a return on.
Respawn has all but guaranteed that their WILL BE a single player campaign this time around. They heard the complaints and they know they have a great formula on their hands it just needs a little tweaking and more content. I got a feeling they will knock this one out of the park.
This will be a nice addition when I get my psvr in October. Just can't wait, and I will probably use it just as much for the cinema mode as I will for full vr games.
I have finally burned out on this game, although it did last me around 200 hours, lol. I finished automatron and I think I am going to let it lay until the big expansion comes out. Right now I am eagerly awaiting RandC and hopefully hyper light drifter for consoles pretty soon. Most of all, I really want that limited edition NMS to show up!
As much as I have loved this series, I think I am going to pass this time around. I really loved Demons Souls, one of my top 3 on the ps3, but it has felt to me that the series has went slowly down hill ever since. Of course they are still great games, but for me I have just lost that zeal to keep punishing myself. Bloodborne was an awesome change of pace but once I finished it I had absolutey no desire to go back to it, and I still haven't even though I got it at launch and was done with it within a couple weeks after. Might sound crazy to some, but I want Ratchet and Clank more than DS3. Never played any of them and am ready to give it a go and am glad it's a complete reboot of the series.
@professorhat Here is the thing though, Noone NEEDS to tidy up the home screen, as you say. People want to, because organization. However, there are many people that legitimately NEED an external HD because there internal HD is full and has been full. They NEED it so they don't have to delete games or open their ps4 up and attempt a HD swap. Folders are a luxury item, that many want, but no one needs. Just my opinion.
Yea, Last of Us is going to be pretty hard to beat as an opening sequence. It gave a good sense of how quickly the virus effected everyone and the pain that ensued. The small touches like the mention of the outbreak in the newspaper in the bathroom and the news segment showing the explosion on TV as it happened in the background....all really good in placing the player in the scene. Such a great opening for a great game, and if UC4 is able to be better then it will truly be one of a kind.
I have to say at first I thought I would wait on this and definitely get DS3 instead. Now though, this just looks like pure fun to play, and I don't think I am ready for another Souls style grind out. Since I never buy two new games at the same time and I am forcing myself to choose, I am going to go with RandC. Astonishingly I have never played ANY of the series so I am actually really happy they decided to reboot the entire series, also helps that the game looks absolutely gorgeous. Can't wait for tuesday!
Pretty awesome tid-bit with the procedurally generated game music coming directly from over 2 hours of music from 65DaysofStatic. PERFECT choice for this kind of game IMO.
@Gamingfinest From what I have read, and I am far from an expert on this topic, Sony hasn't allowed the external HD support yet because of fears over hacking plus members accounts. Exactly like what happened with the ps3. Apparently it is easier to get your hacking software on the console with an external HD? I'm not really sure, but that is the excuse floated across the internet.
I am seriously considering getting that vinyl. Got my father's record player now and an exorbitant amount of vinyl to sort through, this would go nicely. This sound track and Hyper Light Drifters sound track may be the best two of the year.
Playing through the Drake collection again, just good, old fashioned, fun. Wishing I already had Ratchet and Clank and also wishing that limited edition no Man's Sky would miraculously show up at my house months early! Lol
I wouldn't care if it went back to how it was at launch, it literally has had no effect on the enjoyment of my games. The ONLY thing I want, and need, is external HD support. If the WiiU can have it, there is no reason the ps4 can't. And yes I understand they are worried about hacks etc., but if that's the case then make a proprietary external HD that has the extra safety features. I would still get it and be happy with it. Get it done Sony!
@SanderEvers Yep sure can, easily, already did that to. Doesn't change the fact that I STILL need external HD support. It feels up rather quickly, especially if you download the plus freebies every month and play new games fairly regularly. External HD support is the only problem I have with my ps4, and is made worse by the fact that both X1 and WiiU allow it.
Are people seriously thinking that folders is more important or should be added before external HD support? Folders? Sure it would be nice to organize the home screen a little beyond what it already is but I honestly have never run into a problem where I thought "man, folders would really help this situation". I have upgraded my HD and I STILL need external support. Get it done!
Never played the originals but any time an old cult classic starts making noise for a reboot or remake I generally take notice. Any older game that fans still care enough about to put their money behind in an attempt to resurrect it usually is something worth trying out.
@XurAgentofthe9 We may not get concrete info on ES6 but I bet we at least get a tease of some sort. It is their bread and butter and now that Fallout is in the wild I am sure they are in full ES mode.
I am happy for this and am glad it will probably be 3 full AAA productions. If they tried to cram it in one game alot would get left IMO. This way we can get AAA level productions and have it all look great.
@JesWood13 This is exactly the scenario that seems most likely. Same name, same look, just different background and history.
@adf86 yes!! God of War Thor! Lol, so ridiculous
Only one thing anyone needs to know if they are wondering if this game will live up to the hype. Naughty Dog. That's it. They never, and I repeat, NEVER, dissapoint. They are literally the ONLY developer that I trust whole heartedly without ever needing to see game play videos or read reviews. I always know it will be great if it is developed by Naughty Dog. They are the premier development team of our time.
Glad it is coming but don't really care about any of it, and especially don't care about folders. All that I want is external HD conpatibility, even if it must be of the proprietary nature.
Considering how "mature" and "dark" they made the Last Of Us, I am expecting MAJOR changes to the overall feel and tone of this game. Afterall, Henning is gone, and I have feeling that with her gone Neil and Bruce are going to take this thing down a much darker path. In some ways I think it may infuriate some fans who will be looking for that light hearted romp, but since the earliest trailers they have made it very apparent that part 4 will take a much darker and mature turn. I for one hope this is the case, I much preferred the mood of the last of us over the Drake trilogy and I am actually glad Neil and Bruce took over total control and decided to make major changes to the game. I am expecting greatness, and Naughty Dog is one of only 2 or 3 developers that I trust completely to make a game that I know I will like without a doubt.
I don't quite understand the complete disdain for Kratos in this website. Sure the whole angry vengeance thing got a little long in the tooth by the final game, but that's what gave the game it's edge and identity. The main character just didn't care, and was willing to be viewed as a murderer and villain to achieve his goals. That is very different than most other "hero" games. I would be SHOCKED if Kratos was not in the next game. He is one of the top 3 or 4 iconic playstation mascots. The vocal minority may be tired of his angry antics, but the millions upon millions who will buy this game are EAGER to see Kratos again. Expect to see him, just don't whine so much when you do.
@GraveLordXD I only ever played the English versions of part 1 and 2, didn't realize there was an original part one only in Japan. Regardless, IMO From should take everything they have learned from making Souls and Bloodborne to completely reboot a new Kings Field. I would prefer that it had both combat styles, souls or borne, with an open world map like the original kings field except interconnected with hidden areas and secret shortcuts like we in souls and borne. It could really be awesome and would love to see them revisit an open world with elements from souls series. This will probably NEVER happen because souls and borne are to popular and kings field is relatively unheard of by most gamers these days. I think I am burnt on the whole souls/borne formula, so if they weren't interested in a Kings Field remake a new IP would be awesome as well.
@GraveLordXD Me to bud, and I don't think many people realize that From got the inspiration for Souls from their previous work in KF. Also, kings field was more of an open world but still really cool and interconnected, would love to see how they could incorporate all of that together. Maybe just a total Kings Field reboot, I can only dream.
I guess I am of the minority, but I would rather see how Joel has managed with his decision in the years following the original game. See how living that lie has tortured him, or not. Would also be cool if they introduced a real cure this time and dealt with the idea of killing those who can now be saved. Just an idea I suppose.
Seriously amped for this, but also excited to see if they will start on a new IP. I have to believe there will be a Last Of Us part 2, but I also think we may get something brand new before they eventually come back to Uncharted with a new lead. Just a though.
@Boerewors I would rather they give us a true and proper Kings Field, the real originator of the souls series. Loved those games back in the day and I think with everything they have learned now they could really make a great one. (Even though the first two were great imo)
Really pumped for this one. Recently finished up Drake collect and am eager to wrap up Nates story. In the next 6 months or so ps4 has an absolute ridiculous line up of games. DS3, UC4, NMS, FF15, HLD, possibly HellBlade, Nioh, Persona, Overwatch, and HOPEFULLY Red Dead 3 before the end of the year. Could go down as one of my favorite years in gaming ever, especially if No Man's Sky ends up being as special and awesome as it is starting to look. Can't wait!!
Here is my problem with this. Let's say I go buy a 4k tv that will allow me to utilize this supposed ps4k, other than a few Netflix options and some 4k blurays, NONE of the regular broadcasting companies have started to broadcast in 4k, and they are unlikely to for a while yet. Now there may be some ultra package, which costs more, but I'm not interested in that. For me this will be more feasible when television, cable, streaming services etc all broadcast in 4k to make the purchase of a 4k tv truly worth it. Yea it will be awesome to have minor graphical advancements in my games, but honestly they are already so good I rarely have complaints of the graphical nature. I am MUCH MORE interested in psvr than ps4k.
@Gamer83 I never thought any of those games were sure fire great, and imo none of them stack up to the high bar that the original ass effect trilogy set. That's why I think it will be good, because they know how high the expectations are and it is their premier ip. It will certainly be better than those you named.
I feel certain this will be great. They have really taken their time with the development and you know the production values are very high. Sometimes BioWare can be hit or miss with their story telling but I feel this will be a hit. This is their biggest property and they will get it right.
I actually would really enjoy this. I thought Infinite was a really great game and I never got around to playing the first 2, so having them all in an up to date package would be pretty sweet imo.
Yea I am fairly certain this is total over reaction. Plus, who's to say this wasn't a gag just to throw a little shade? We also have to remember that the general gaming public loves GoW for what it is, and would want a new Greek mythology based game, although I still don't believe that's what this is. Also heard they were working on TWO games, could we be getting a God of War remake and then a new God of War style game with a different mythology and slightly different name??
On a mountain vacation this weekend with the wife and son, so not a lot of gaming going on. Will definitely try the Platinum FF15 demo tomorow when I get home and am still a little peeved we haven't got any sort of information on the Hyper Light Drifter ps4 release.

Sure hope it isn't an indication of things to come.
Re: BioShock: The Collection Is Now PS4's Worst Kept Secret
I actually would really enjoy this. I thought Infinite was a really great game and I never got around to playing the first 2, so having them all in an up to date package would be pretty sweet imo.
Re: Urgh! Could There Be More Greek Mythology on the Way in God of War PS4?
Yea I am fairly certain this is total over reaction. Plus, who's to say this wasn't a gag just to throw a little shade? We also have to remember that the general gaming public loves GoW for what it is, and would want a new Greek mythology based game, although I still don't believe that's what this is. Also heard they were working on TWO games, could we be getting a God of War remake and then a new God of War style game with a different mythology and slightly different name??
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 111
On a mountain vacation this weekend with the wife and son, so not a lot of gaming going on. Will definitely try the Platinum FF15 demo tomorow when I get home and am still a little peeved we haven't got any sort of information on the Hyper Light Drifter ps4 release.
