@AhabSpampurse Upgrade ship, suit, weapon, explore endless galaxies, solar systems, and planets, dog fights in space and on planet, learn alien languages and trade with alien races, scavenge minerals and blueprints, join alien factions, battle alien faction, fps battle on ground, mine into planets for minerals, name all new animals/planets/fauna, journey to the center of the universe and all the other things they haven't told us about yet, lol
@get2sammyb Oh fully agreed, maybe I worded it to harshly, but you are correct. They chose the smart path focusing on the west and it has paid off. FF15 will be the true testament however, just as you predict. If FF and eventually DQ11 don't move the needle massively then it could be more than just a trend, and simply fact.
That comment alone means alot though. A game where you will spend ALOT of time exploring damn well better control nicely. If it was off putting or "jerky", would be a HUGE turn off. I am also glad Hello Games decided to go with arcade style controls for the space flight. IMO that works really well with jumping in and out of flight and not getting overly complicated everytime you want to leave a planet, which could be often in theory. I read a post from Sean Murray saying that some people will probably play the game without ever leaving the first planet, they are that massive. Awesome.
@sinalefa NMS has taken around 4 years to develop, that seems pretty normal for a new AAA IP imo, and make no mistake, they are treating this like a AAA game.
I honestly don't think Sony looks at Japan as a major piece of its home console market anymore. 2 years and 3 million, pretty shabby honestly. Of course they will continue to support and push for the Japanese market, but it isn't nearly as important as in years past.
Extremely smart move but not really news. Sony stated quite some time ago that all VR games would be compatible with the DS4, but that all might not be "preferable". In fact, back in 2014, when the Morpheus rumors were flying around, A Sony exec said the light bar on the DS4 was purposely placed on the controller from the get go for eventual PSVR functionality. Forward thinking that was. Lucky for me I got extra Move and DS4 controllers:)
For me, yes it will. That's because I have done my homework and know exactly what I am getting into and it sounds perfect for ME. Seems like so many people are quick to judge this game without reading up on any of the plethora of articles that give detailed information about it. And for those worried about the file size, Google NMS procedural generation and it explains it very well. It will not be "samey" as some have suggested because they entered so much art for the computer to pull from. And it isn't completely random in the first place, they have created very strict rules for the game to follow. This game offers more things to do and more ways to play than almost every other game ever made, yet people keep saying they are worried there won't be anything to do, smdh.
@Jake3103 I'm talking 'Merica big boy, lol. When I preordered mine they were available from Gamestop, Amazon, and Best Buy, but all three are sold out here. I got mine luckily through Best Buy when they added some more a week after the first batch. looks like my Co worker is going to miss out, it really is a sweet limited edition for the price.
Pretty great price on that PS4 with Uncharted. Any word if there will be trade in programs for people looking to trade up to the ps4k? Also does anyone know if Amazon(or anywhere else for that matter) has any No MAN'S Sky limited editions for ps4 available? I have mine preordered through Best Buy already, but after showing a colleague at work alot of the articles and videos on NMS he now wants the limited edition! He tried to get me to sell mine to him! Anyways, if anyone knows of somewhere that is selling them would cut down on my Internet searching lol.
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi Have to agree with this. Nintendo has simply lost me completely as a customer, to much focus on one group of gamers IMO. The ONLY saving grace for Nintendo for me personally is Zelda. I still have have the original game completely memorized, dungeons and all. Zelda is everyrhing Nintendo does right imo. Not having a Zelda on the WiiU is why I don't own one now, and never will since the next one will release on NX as well.
Fully expected a small size download. Most of that 6gb will be the audio files. The text code that is used for the procedural generation doesn't use much space since it is, well, text based. Ingenious really and with the game throwing away everything after you leave and only saving the things you changed, the save files won't get big either. Hats off to them.
As with the internet, the vocal minority is always heard the most. If we as Americans really were as conservative as you describe, wouldn't those types of entertainment be banned? We do have access to unlimited pornography and nudity is becoming more and more acceptable in movies and even television. There will always be those stuck in the past but their way of thinking hasn't stopped the rest of us from enjoying what we want. Such is the way of America, they can scream and cry that these forms of entertainment are bad and we can watch it anyways. Everyone has their own opinion.
It does "look" good, but the reviews are rather horrendous. I think gamers are starting to wisen up to these walking simulators. Being obtuse just for the sake of being obtuse is rather bland.
@Gamer83 You are joking right? Maybe the ultra conservative 5 percent would consider this pornography but I like to believe we Americans have come a long way in our acceptance of the human body.
Would only be interested in a ps4 version, and it is to far away in funding to think that will ever happen. Quite the quandary, because I want to back it but I am worried it will never reach it, so I refrain.
I feel like I am in the mass gaming majority when I say no, we do not need PS1 games on the ps4. Think about it, who exactly would these games appeal to? People at or around my age. And the vast majority of us have families and all sorts of not fun responsibilities! Time is the precious commodity in gaming amongst those of with the fondest memories of the ps1, and I believe most would agree that time is better spent on new and exciting gaming experiences, not revisiting old ones only to tarnish the rosey images we keep of old games that aren't nearly as good as we imagine. If bringing these PS1 games to the ps4 doesn't hinder Sony from any of its new game development then have it, but if it takes even one penny away from something new than leave it where it is.
@Neolit I feel like this game carries with it alot of weight for what "indy" titles can be and what Indy devs can create. If this turns out to be the hit I expect, it will definitively show that awesome AAA level games can be made by a small, passionate, development team. I think their hardworking, passion, and dedication will shine through in the finished product and may put to shame many of the big AAA developers with their bloated budgets and aversion for risk taking.
@ApostateMage For those of us who temper our expectations and only allow hype to creep in with games we are CERTAIN we will enjoy , it will definitely live up to it. For the tens of thousands younguns on the internet who hype games to astronomical levels and then feel betrayed if there is even a sliver of disdain towards the game, noting ever lives up to their hype, lol. Luckily Hello games has done an excellent job explaining exactly what NMS is, and even giving alot of detail on the many mechanics while still leaving alot of mystery and intrigue. I don't normally let myself get hyped for any game anymore(jaded I suppose) but this one is different and i certainly cannot wait.
Patiently waiting on my ps4 limited edition. One of the best limited editions I have seen with a really fair price. Great news, won't be delayed any further!
Would like to see a new game. I know it is a proven formula but I would love to see them change it up somewhat, it feels a little antiquated at this point. Actually I would love to see a new title, I know we just got Overwatch but it isn't really my thing. Regardless of what they do it is guaranteed that it will be quality.
As myself and many others predicted over a year ago, this would be the year that we would begin to get AAA titles and the like on plus. All those that complained will surely go back to the message boards and now shout how great the last few months have been, right? I expect to see Killzone, Knack, Tearaway, etc before the year is out.
FF15 hype will probably continue to push ps4 sales in Japan through the summer. Plus there are already a pretty reasonable selection of games that cater to the Japanese crowd on the ps4, just not any that have released in the last couple months.
Loved Heavy, not so much Beyond. Will take a wait and see approach with Detroit. Cage, Ueda, and Kojima all under the Sony umbrella now, talk about an artistic triumvirate.
Review reads like a 5 or 6, and deservedly so if you have read the reviews from other sites. Maybe a hint of jrpg fanboyism going on? I jest, but honestly the problems it has are exactly as I predicted and exactly what many of these comments blasted me for just a couple weeks ago. Boring story, repetitive combat, and worst of all, no real incentive to push through to the end. IMO, the biggest travesty in rpgs, and particularly jrpgs, is when they have an unforgettable or downright bad story. Most folks would only consider buying this if the reviews heaped praise on an awesome story. As it stands, it is ANOTHER forgettable jrpg that will only satisfy the small niche. It's a weird feeling knowing you have been alive long enough to have loved jrpg when they were the most niche of all games, only to rise to ultimate prominence in the ps2 Era, to now falling back out of relevance. Only Persona 5 and FF15 can save us now!
I feel like these guys could make a great game if they just scaled it all back a little. Instead of all these quests and areas and what not, create a great linear story that is fun to play, figure out a gimmick that makes it replayable and polish the hell out of it. Instead you get this, which is rough around every edge. Trying to do to much with to little. IMO and AA or Indy developer that is creating a game with a story should not even begin programming until they have crafted an EXCELLENT story, and original. Even if it only last 5 hours, an excellent story is always received better than a mediocre one ham fisted onto a huge, almost unplayable, game. Sigh
This is exactly why I am so happy to be an older and wiser gamer now. In my formative teenage years I would let the hype for a game I wanted reach a fever pitch, which almost always ended in dissapointment when the title actually launched, even if the games were still great.
