Worthy of note, Tin Hearts has a really fun VR option and is still available on PS Plus, just not under the VR2 banner presumably bc it’s an optional mode and not required.
The VR2 offerings were one of the few things keeping Premium an attractive enough tier for me. Preaching to the choir here of course, but the near-total lack of Premium attention has just been equal parts baffling and appalling. I enjoyed the opportunity to try out a few VR titles I wouldn’t have normally shelled out for, and I can only hope more of those titles pop up on the service sometime down the line. Sooner than later, preferably!
Btw, Star Wars is well worth your time for anyone interested before it goes the way of the dodo…
Wow what a cruddy move. Only got mine in November with the Black Friday deals and Beat Saber has easily been one of our most played; it’s without a doubt our preferred VR rhythm game. They’d better at least offer some deep discounts or freebies from the existing DLC selection, otherwise what reason is there to keep supporting a developer who wants to treat a sizable portion of its customers like trash?
This would be an excellent PS Plus addition but still something I could pick up for the right price if not included with the sub. Lots of nostalgia for these games, hope they don’t stop here! Backyard Hockey and Skateboarding on PC were some of my earliest gaming memories, glad to see this franchise making a comeback.
I’m a bit surprised here at the lack of faith in the showrunners for being able to land this plane however long down the line. I am positive they’re well aware of the dangers that could come with recontextualizing something so precious in the grand scheme of the narrative. The fact of the matter is we’ll have another large gap between the next episode and whenever the next season will be ready to go, so a lot of these shuffles in the story have worked quite well for me as someone very familiar with both games, and have also been extremely effective for my partner who went into the show completely blind. There were a lot of very satisfying emotional beats for us in this episode in particular, as well as some great contributions to fill in a few gaps that the game wasn’t able to address. Pascal’s and Ramsey’s performances and chemistry with each other have only improved over time and had us both in tears by the end of the night. Incredibly excited for the finale, and hoping the wait for season 3 isn’t nearly as long!
@Cornpop76 The game did cover it, just very differently. You gained the context over time while with Bill. And to each their own, but I thoroughly enjoyed the throughline of their relationship alongside the show’s liberties to break off and show us the realities of other characters running parallel to Joel and Ellie, and I didn’t think any meaning was lost by the finale. Sure, pacing may have benefitted from longer seasons/more episodes, but that’s honestly become a bigger problem for television as a whole with these extremely short episode counts and extremely long waits between seasons…
I find it hilarious how so many commenters who haven’t even bothered to watch are denying the headline like it’s some sort of gospel truth. I, for one, actually think the first time the show surpassed the game would be Bill and Frank’s episode from season 1. Looking forward to seeing how they approach the end of this season!
Bella gave a brilliant performance this episode. They really do every episode. It is disgusting that so many creeps online can’t get past how a teenage character looks and appreciate any of this beautiful show on a deeper level. I, for one, am as hooked as ever and ready to keep tuning in every Sunday.
It’s definitely hard to predict how this will pan out in relation to the game’s narrative, but that’s also a huge part of the intrigue for me as someone well-entrenched in both games. I truly don’t get all the comments I’ve seen about things from the show not being completely, entirely, identically accurate to the game. Why would you want such a lazy copy-paste? I got reeled right back in with this first episode and am very optimistic that the creators can adapt the source material just as effectively as they did with season one.
Selfishly, I hope Nintendo's choices here knock them down a few pegs like in the Wii U era. That was actually weirdly a great time to be a Nintendo fan, mostly from an economic standpoint, as you had very affordable Nintendo Selects and Club Nintendo offerings to build up a decent game library at a bargain.
Some reports I’ve seen have suggested $20 but frankly I wouldn’t even pay $10. It looks like less of an actual game than even something like Astro’s Playroom. Just one of many baffling decisions we saw this morning. This will likely be the first Nintendo console since the Wii days I won’t be obtaining in the launch window.
I find it extremely weird how many people are obsessed with criticizing the show based on its supposed ‘failure’ to match the visuals of the game exactly. Like, wouldn’t that be boring? To just see the exact same thing twice? The TV show is an extremely well-done adaption with perfectly casted actors who provide their own takes on the characters. Judging the program based solely on the comparison aspect is doing it a gross disservice. Not to mention the immaturity factor as well as the general creep factor in directing much of the hate toward the young adult female actors in particular.
Gonna try to shuffle Kena and Nour into my current rotation then. Wanted to get around to Animal Well too but other Metroidvanias have taken priority, may hold off there for now.
Ha! Might have to drop a few bucks for this. The Explicit Lyrics option is greatly appreciated, hoping they update the radio edits from older releases to allow the feature for those.
I know I’m jumping the gun here but the focus on these PSP versions is just so lame. They are consistently the worst versions of those respective games. I’d be all in for the slightly less trashy licensed games homed to PS2 and PS3 (admittedly mostly due to nostalgia), but these portable editions verge on utterly boring if not unplayable.
Oh excellent! I did just buy SS to play with my buddy online but I got the deluxe edition for cheap for no big loss. Stanley piqued my interest very recently so that’ll be great for a first-time playthrough
I really enjoyed my time with this and saw it through to the end; don’t mind a bit of hand-holding indie goodness here and there between the bigger, tougher AAA’s I’m playing. But great option for those looking to try it!
Ah, I JUST bought Galaxy’s Edge when my VR2 arrived from Black Friday…least the game was on sale. Great pick for those who don’t have it yet, but even still it’s another paltry month for Premium.
@Michael2008ish Actors often collaborate with directors/writers/etc to shape their characters, dialogue, and even the overall story. That’s creative input, baby!
I think I'd prefer a beefed up Steam Deck that could run the PS ports decently as well as a slew of other PC games. A dedicated handheld from Sony would take a lot of convincing for me personally.
@Mostik Ah yeah I hear you. Games like Squadrons and Astro are big pulls for me bc I really don’t think they’ll end up on VR2 any time soon, but saving toward the newer model is probably wiser in the long run. Thanks!
I know I’m in the minority here, but for someone who has yet to take the plunge into any form of VR that $200 off is very very tempting. I’ve loved trying out friends’ headsets and my partner and I have a decently long list of games we’d love to play with it.
That, or PSVR1 is now under $200 on Amazon and I have access to a handful of those games for free. Honestly enough on my list to play from that library to maybe justify the older model instead?
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one! Hoping for some QOL improvements as some cheap difficulty on the PS2 made it a slog to retread levels after blowing through a very limited number of lives. My good friend and I made it to the end in our let’s play with what Id consider an appropriate amount of rage for what the game threw at us:
@Kienda The two I referenced don’t even really qualify at this point. Smash Bros. spoiled the first one for everybody long ago, and the second reference was kept vague enough that only people who’ve played the game should know it. Appreciate your input, though!
Mountain out of a molehill imo, this one’s up there with the likes of ‘Sheik = Zelda’ and ‘the cake is a lie’; anyone who doesn’t know is likely too out of the loop to really care.
Edit: This also coming from someone yet to play any form of FF7!
I’ll stand by the appreciation for preservation of some more obscure older licensed games. But why so few and why seemingly just the most unremarkable or straight-up terrible ones? Toy Story 2 is like the only of these I’ve seen that has an actually decent reputation. Give us the PS3 version of Toy Story 3. The PS2 Battlefront 2. Not just one bad movie tie-in from 25 years ago…
I’m fine with this as long as they don’t beat us over the head with it right out the gate. Let the Wolverine game stand on its own, no more than say a fleeting reference to anything regarding the larger Marvel world. Then maybe expanding into a Wolverine-adjacent side quest in Spider-Man 3 could be some cool connective tissue!
This is really awesome to hear. I’m a big advocate for actors having access to professional intimacy training and coordination. Whether it’s full motion capture work or even just voice acting alone, all actors deserve to feel safe in their work environments just as everyone else does.

For anyone curious, that’s Josh Gad’s character in the English release. Really enjoyable family film! Was well worth a watch for us.
