We already kinda knew this was happening, but it's now official. Developer Cyan Worlds has announced its remakes of Myst and Riven are coming very soon to PS5.
This pair of stone cold classics will be available from 19th May 2026, and you can wishlist them now on PS Store.
Originally released for PS1 and PC in the 90s, Myst and Riven are seminal first-person puzzle games developed by Cyan Worlds. The very same studio has remade both of these titles in 2021 and 2024 respectively.
With modern controls and visuals, the games look and play better than ever, and on PS5 they both come pretty fully featured.

First off, they fully support PSVR2; you'll be able to play these titles on your TV or with Sony's headset.
On top of that, they're both PS5 Pro Enhanced, with the more powerful console bumping up the graphical fidelity and, when playing in VR, increasing the base resolution.
Myst and Riven also feature ray traced reflections on both PS5 and PS5 Pro. Enabling them reduces the frame rate to 30 frames-per-second, or you can toggle them off for a smoother 60.
Finally, this pair of puzzle adventures can be added to the list of games that support PS5's Power Saver feature, reducing the energy required to run them by scaling back performance.
The games will set you back $34.99 each. A UK price isn't shared, but we presume it'll translate to £29.99.

I played Myst back when it came out and revisited it on the Switch just a few years back. I'm significantly dumber now than I was in the 90s because I finished it without a guide back then, but couldn't get far without one just a couple decades later.
I think I'm going to jump on the chance at playing it on PSVR2. Time to truly inhabit those worlds.
I never got into either game back when they were new (or in any of the half-dozen remakes since then), but for PSVR2 I may have to give them a try.
Though looking up a guide IS a lot trickier in the headset....
I really loved the Myst map on Walkabout Mini Golf and have yet to properly play a version of Myst the whole way through, so having the option for VR support is mighty tempting!
I love puzzle games on PSVR i might buy it
Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! Cyan needs to do Obduction next!
I’ll need a guide to get through the tunnel system again, but I’ll give it a go in VR. It’ll be interesting to see how the video rendering works in VR.
Nice, but new PS5 Pro Enhanced games not using PSSR (given how good PSSR2 looks) is such a bummer.
PSVR2 support equals insta buys for me. I must own Myst on about 5 different systems but definitely getting it for VR.
Myst is a seminal game in my life. I never played through Riven but I've been tempted to since the remakes came out.
Myst VR elevated the temptation to a whole new level.
Guessing these are ports of the Xbox Series X/S versions that came out a few years ago? (At least the flat screen PS5 versions)
Those are also exactly $34.99 on Xbox so thinking they are . I thought they came out on PS5 at the same time.
@CaptD sounds cool, you interested?
@awp69 Only Myst was released on Xbox. We are getting the Riven remake on consoles for the first time and I'm so happy I can cry 😭
I'll definitely have some of this especially in VR..a nice chill couple of games.
Definitely something I would be into in VR. Bring back the weird vibe of 90s point and click games!
@psmr
Definitely and it is nice to hear of VR Pro upgrades as they are far more rare than they should be.
The only concern is whether it is a decent VR experience as their last one was a bit iffy as I recall.
Been a good year so far for psvr2 releases although there has been the unfortunate studio closures.
I still have my notebooks from playing Myst and Riven when they first came out... I miss the days of bizarre worlds that actually felt alien.
That is a surprise! I heard that the VR adaptation of firmament and there was also an adaptation on psvr1 are not very good. So never tried them. Anyway the pcvr version of riven is supposed to be very good. So, I am looking forward to the psvr2 version. Maybe they nail it this time ?
This is a must-buy for me. I loved Myst back in the day & my psvr2 is thirsty for content.
i bet these games will be crazy in vr , i'll have to consider it now.
Now comes the most complicated part: getting Pushsquare to include both games in the VR2 new releases list.
This is a day one buy for sure. I'm so ready to remember how stupid I am, all over again.
I've been playing will-they-won't-they (the American equivalent of knifey-spoony) with whether these will get PS5 releases for years now, and finally felt a back muscle untense. I even got a tinge of "maybe I should buy a PSVR2." What a day!
The hope that these games would come to PSVR2 is what finally made me decide to buy the headset when its price was slashed a couple years ago during Days of Play.
