As I anticipated last month, a trio of classic Toy Story games have been delisted on the PS Store.

Those games are as follows:

That means these titles are also no longer available with PS Plus Premium, and even if you’ve got the PS Plus versions installed on your console, you’ll be locked out from playing them.

The reason for the delisting is due to the impending release of Toy Story Retro Roundup and Toy Story 3 Complete Edition, so these games will be preserved – although you will need to purchase these new bundles to continue playing them.

It’s also worth pointing out that the PSP version of Toy Story 3, which was available here, is completely different to the remastered PS3 release.

As such, you’ll need to pick up an original UMD, and either use PSP hardware or legally rip your ROM to an emulator to continue playing it.

I can understand why Disney would want to do this, as the games included in the Retro Roundup are pretty much identical to these emulated versions.

But I think taking away legitimate reasons to play these games sucks, and it’s especially frustrating that the abovementioned PSP release has been removed.

Original Story: Earlier today, Sony confirmed the seven games that’ll be leaving the PS Plus Extra catalogue in September.

However, I was surprised to see this selection expand to two PS Plus Premium games as well: the PS1’s Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue and the PSP’s Toy Story 3.

I’m now fairly convinced both of these games are going to be delisted from the PS Store to make way for compilation Toy Story: Retro Roundup and re-release Toy Story 3 Complete Edition.

While there’s been no communication of that from Disney, the Xbox store page for the backwards compatible version of Toy Story 3 mentions it’ll be removed from sale starting 29th September.

Here’s the potential rub for PS5 players, though: the version of Toy Story 3 currently available on the PS Store is completely different to the one being re-released.

Despite deploying at the same time as the main PS3 game, the PSP edition by Asobo has its own campaign designed around Rex’s illustrated story book. Levels are more straightforward, and the popular Toy Box mode is absent.

Thus, if you want to add this version to your digital library, I’d recommend you do so now. It is available a la carte, and you’ll need to make sure you own it outside of PS Plus Premium to ensure it stays in your collection should it get delisted.

It’s worth adding that while the version of Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue included in the Toy Story: Retro Roundup will likely be identical to the one currently available on the PS Store, the latter has its own set of Trophies you may want to unlock.

And one thing that’s confusing me here is that an emulated version of Buzz Lightyear of Star Command is also included in the Toy Story: Retro Roundup, but there’s currently no word of the emulated version being removed from PS Plus Premium.

I’ll check in with Disney to get confirmation of whether any these games are actually getting delisted, and I’ll update when I get word back.
