Neither Intergalactic nor the potential Faye game (God forbid this is true) will sell many PS5s. On the contrary. In Faye's case, it will even hurt the God of War franchise because Kratos = God of War.
GTA 6 and Wolverine are the only ones that can really make a difference. Although, more accurately, GTA 6 Wolverine is just a small bonus. Nevertheless, I'm no longer sure if they'll actually reach 20+ million sales.
If the PS6 really does come out next year and there's a PS6 version of GTA 6, then it will play out similarly to GTA V, which also sold better on the PS4 than on the PS3, even though it was released on the PS3 first.
Based solely on your other comments, I'm wondering why you're even here on Pushsquare, since you obviously hate everything PlayStation does. But well, Push Square seems to have a general problem with people who don't even like PS...
And no, PS won't fail; quite the opposite. Nishino is already cleaning house and has understood that it's important to have exclusive titles to justify buying a console.
That is precisely why the Japanese leadership took control, because these idiots in California had wasted hundreds of millions without regard for the consequences.
And yeah, the much-loved Shawn Layden is responsible for all of this, and Hulst and Ryan continued it.
I'm curious to see what happens next. But Nishino is already cleaning up.
As much as I appreciate Nishino's dedication to the Japanese market, he shouldn't forget which market has carried the PS4 and PS5 all these years. It would therefore only be fair if there were an English Only or German/France/Spanish/Ect. Only PS5 Edition.
The Japanese couldn't care less about the PS5, as the weekly Famitsu sales figures show.
Especially since GTA VI will bring Sony more money than all Japanese games combined.
I have absolutely no understanding whatsoever for Sony raising prices again.
It doesn't matter whether Trump or AI is to blame. Where have the days gone when these damn corporations offset their hardware costs with software sales? Seriously, Sony makes billions with the PSN store. It would be so easy to offset the hardware costs to buy even more consoles and thus bring even more people into the ecosystem.
But no, just make the hardware more expensive and scares away new customers. No wonder most people stick with the PS4 SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE THE MONEY!๐ก
These corporations are so incredibly stupid. Totoki is on par with Trump, without a doubt.
The arrogance and bias of Nintendo drones really needs to be studied.
Perhaps it's time to realize that all the omnipotence fantasies Nintendo fanboys have dreamt up aren't going to come true. Multiplatform games are still predominantly bought on PC/PS, and that's not going to change in the future.
Sure, games like Pokรฉmon or Mario will provide a boost, but believing that the Switch 2 will easily outperform the PS5 and PS6 (how anyone can be so sure about the latter is beyond me, since we know practically nothing about the PS6) simply demonstrates such ignorance.
GTA VI, combined with Wolverine, will definitely give the PS5 a second spring like we've never seen before. Even a rumored 3D Mario game during the Christmas season won't change that.
PS: And it's just great that I have to deal with stupid Nintendo kids on a PS-only site again. Seriously, go to NintendoLife, it's just around the corner, but get lost already!๐
The number of people who have dropped their masks in recent weeks, supposedly because they have no interest in Sony's exclusives, is truly unbelievable.
I sincerely hope we live to see the day when the Bloodborne remake or a sequel is released exclusively for PlayStation. The PCMR meltdown will go down in history.๐
Otherwise, Sony is making absolutely the right decision!
(and I never thought they would actually go back to true exclusives, but rather that they would go the same way as Xbox)
LOL, what's with all the whining about this article where Sammy describes SE's hypocrisy?
Push Square is primarily a PlayStation fanboy site. Which means, of course, they mainly care about what PlayStation does.
If you don't like it, then leave. Seriously, why are there always people here who don't even like PlayStation and Sony? Go to Nintendolife or Pure Xbox, but please, get lost.
Hermen is definitely history. It might take a little longer, but he'll be gone by the end of the year at the latest.
Sony's management has long since realized that these idiots in California, with the exception of Santa Monica Studios, are only costing Sony billions. The future lies in Asia, and Sony knows it.
There's no room left for self-satisfied narcissists like Hermen or Druckmann.
I definitely expect more studio closures and mass layoffs.
Yeah, yeah, how many times have I heard that before? I'm curious to hear the excuses when it's revealed that you won't be piloting either the Highwind or the submarine.
SE is just pissed off that Sony doesn't want to pay for their garbage anymore. SE is truly the definition of a pissed-off ex-girlfriend who cheated on you, but it's your fault.
Seriously, the PS Classics are getting more and more ridiculous. Thankfully, I don't have PS+ and never will, but damn, Sony is terrible.
Where the hell are the enhanced versions of Jak 2, Jak 3, Jak X, the R&C games, the damn God of War games, Killzone 1, Ape Escape 3, and many other fan favorites?
Ridge Racer... as if anyone asked for Ridge Racer. At least give us the NFS Underground games or Burnout, that's what a lot of people want.
Hermen should have been fired back in 2024. But yes, I think he'll be gone by the end of 2026 at the latest. Because Marathon will be a flop no matter what gaming journalists claim.
And a PC launcher... LOL, sorry, but that would be the dumbest thing Sony could do. Most PC gamers download Sony games illegally anyway. You notice it every time a new game lands on the top lists of torrent sites. The PC market is lost to Sony, and they should finally realize that.
I think most of what will happen this year will be behind the scenes. We'll hear that Hermen is leaving, but we won't really see the effects until the PS6 release.
I don't think anyone, not even Sony themselves, thought they could compete with the Switch by lowering the price. But probably no one, not even Sony themselves, thought that even though they were accommodating the Japanese market with a JP-only PS5, they would still be selling for less than 10K a week.
Basically, this price cut hasn't achieved anything except that the Japanese are to blame themselves if Sony drastically reduces production in Japan next year and focuses on Korea and China instead. These are two markets that clearly have greater potential for the PS5. And it wouldn't surprise me if China, in particular, overtakes Japan as a PS5 market by the end of this generation (whenever that may be).
And no matter what doomsayers some people are spreading here again, the Japanese third-party developers are here to stay. PlayStation is far too big globally to be ignored. Capcom, Square Enix, and others know this very well.
That's why I laugh every time some internet "experts" think that as soon as Square Enix and Co release Final Fantasy on the Switch, sales will explode.
I can hardly wait for the sales figures for Resident Evil 9, Pragmata, and other Japanese third-party games. Anyone who thinks that just because there's a Switch 2 version, sales will suddenly skyrocket in Japan is in for a rude awakening.
All these Japanese IPs are now selling better in the West. Tales of, for example, is also more popular in the West than in Japan.
Thank God for the ignore function, the Nintendo drones are unbearable again...

LOL, what kind of ridiculous statement is that? Without Japan, Nintendo would be just as screwed. Especially since the biggest market for the PS5 is still the US.
Especially since the loss of Europe will be worse for Nintendo than the loss of Japan for Sony.
It's a shame I didn't take any screenshots, but I remember at the beginning of this year how Nintendo fanboys, just here on Push Square, claimed that the Switch 2 would destroy the PS5 and that Sony would also have to go multiplatform in the future to remain relevant...
Yes, the Switch 2 had a strong start, but no matter how often some people repeat the mantra: "the fastest-selling console of all time," it doesn't ignore the fact that the Switch 2, which is available everywhere, couldn't beat a 5-year-old PS5!
That's exactly what I and many others are saying now. Except for Japan, sales figures have plummeted. Especially in Europe, almost no one is interested in the Switch 2, while the PS5 easily reaches 300K units even in slow months.
These numbers are a disaster for Nintendo. No matter how much the Nintendo Drone Force tries to spin these figures and portray the PS5 numbers as bad.
I'm really curious about the future of SE. Because in the future, there will be no more money from Sony, and no more development support, so SE will have to find someone else to blame for their mistakes.
I really wouldn't be surprised if SE is acquired by China or the Saudis in 5+ years. Because, let's be honest, it would be incredibly stupid for Sony to take over such a mess of a company. One Bungie is enough; Sony doesn't need the Japanese Ubisoft as well.
It's always so amusing to read the excuses of the Nintendo defense drones, even though before the release they loudly proclaimed that the Switch 2 would make all consoles obsolete.
It's funny how they downplay the UK because it's supposedly never been Nintendo territory...
I'm curious to see the excuses next year when Switch 2 sales in Europe completely collapse and GTA 6 and Wolverine give the PS5 a second wind.
And people seriously still wonder why Sony doesn't give a damn about Japan. ๏ปฟ ๏ปฟThese numbers are a disaster! And I wouldn't be surprised if Sony raises the price again in a few months due to the lack of interest from the Japanese.
Sony should really focus more on China and Korea in the future. The potential is much greater there, and it will easily compensate for the loss of Japan.
That makes sense for a third-party publisher like Microsoft, who no longer care about console sales. Sony, on the other hand, still does. But the arguments for buying a PS5 are dwindling, and I don't even want to talk about the PS6.
Like I said, I'm really curious how they plan to sell the PS6 when their games are also available on Steam, the next Xbox, and maybe even the Switch 2.
Hooray, and another reason not to buy a PS5. Come on, finally release Astro Bot for PC! Then the PS5 will be by far the worst PlayStation without any real exclusive titles...
Like I said, I'm waiting until all this PC/Steam nonsense blows up in Sony's face. At the latest, when some Chinese manufacturer releases a PC hybrid.
Oh, the optimization certainly won't suffer. as with all UE5 titles that were also multiplatform.
I'm curious whether Sony will be allowed to finance this again, or whether Shift Up will do it themselves and then complain if SB2 doesn't sell 10+ million copies despite being multiplatform.
Hermen Hulst really wants us PS5 players to play the Horizon Concord Edition instead. So everything we know from Concord (I can't go into more detail or I'll get banned again, but everyone knows what I mean) will also be present in Guerilla's Horizon multiplayer. And because the reactions will be accordingly negative, Hermen has already stated that for us PS5 players, only the improved Horizon will be available.
His bad luck is that we already know about the better Horizon MP, and everyone wants that instead of the Horizon Concord Edition.
However, we need to slowly realize that Sony is going down the same path as Microsoft and will massively damage or even destroy the PlayStation brand. And we PlayStation players are the big losers.
If Sony continues to release their games on PC, this will definitely be a threat to PlayStation.
Because eventually, even the last person will realize that you don't need a PlayStation to play God of War or Spider-Man anymore.
I hope this announcement is the wake-up call for Sony to finally understand what Valve is really up to. But I fear that Totokoi is far too greedy and only sees the quick buck.
I can hardly wait for the catastrophe that's coming for Sony.
Many don't understand why PlayStation fans are so excited about Steel Frontiers. The gameplay shown is 100 times more interesting than what's in the original Horizon. And if the art style really still has a Fortnite comic look... well, then it's going to be ugly.
But hey, thankfully thanks to Hermen Hulst, at least PC players can choose which Horizon they prefer to play. Ah, good old Hermen, he does so much for his loyal fanbase who have built up Sony for years.
LOL, that's a terrible comparison. Capcom doesn't want to sell consoles, but Sony does. Besides, Sony wants you to stay within their ecosystem.
In the future, most people will ask themselves, "Why should I buy a PlayStation when I can get all the PS games on Steam anyway, and multiplayer is free?"
If Sony doesn't change its mind very quickly, they'll go the same way as Xbox. Only ten times worse.
It's simply sad to see how many people not only support Game Key Cards but also celebrate Nintendo. But hey, it's the same fandom that would celebrate if Furukawa
came to their house and took a dump on their carpet.
I'm just looking forward to the day when Nintendo shuts down the servers in 5-10 years and these cards become completely useless.
How do you destroy the most popular and profitable game console?
Totokoi: Yes
Honestly, I don't even want to get upset about it anymore. Because if you say anything, you're just labeled a Sony ponies anyway...
I'm just looking forward to when all those Sony ponies are proven right in the end, and this unbelievable nonsense is the end of Sony as we know it. And Hiroki Totoki will go down in history as the CEO who killed Sony's biggest golden goose out of sheer greed and stupidity!
"Its availability has generally been excellent, though."
That's exactly what's constantly being forgotten. The PS4 and PS5 were unavailable for months, while the Switch 2 is available everywhere.
We'll see where the Switch 2 ends up. A total flop like the Wii U was nonsense from the start. But the claims that the Switch 2 will make all other consoles obsolete are just as *****.
The Game Key Cards alone are likely to have ruined any long-term third-party success.

Sony was definitely prepared for the RAM crisis, but not for the Strait of Hormuz closing. And I'm telling you, the worst is yet to come.
However, that's no excuse. Sony could easily subsidize the increased costs. Instead, they're passing all the costs on to the customer.

Of these, apart from Astro Bot (so far), both are on PC and run best there, and will also run on the new Steam Machine...
"Next Year they plan to release Tokon, Saros and Wolverine."
All three of these games will also be released for PC and will run best there, as well as on the Steam Machine.
Honestly, anyone who still hasn't grasped the seriousness of the situation won't understand it even when PlayStation is exactly where Xbox is now.
Re: The Next Horizon Game Is an MMO by NCSOFT for PC, Mobile
I never thought we'd see the day a PlayStation franchise skips the PlayStation console, but here we are.
A huge thank you to Shawn Layden, Jim Ryan, and Hermen Hulst.
Re: In Japan, Switch 2 Retail Sales Are Already Closing on PS5
It's simply sad to see how many people not only support Game Key Cards but also celebrate Nintendo. But hey, it's the same fandom that would celebrate if Furukawa
came to their house and took a dump on their carpet.
I'm just looking forward to the day when Nintendo shuts down the servers in 5-10 years and these cards become completely useless.
Re: Some PS5 Owners Might Be Paying More Than Others on PS Store
I know why I haven't bought anything from the PS Store for months.
Re: 'It Happens on PS5': New PlayStation Adverts Mark Five Years of PS5
it should say: 'It Happens on PS5 and PC (Steam)'
Re: Leaked Cross-Buy Icon on PS5 Hints at Mysterious Pro-Consumer Move from Sony
Re: Aug 2025 USA Sales: Massive Month for Single Player Games, PS5 Can't Catch Switch 2
Re: The Witcher 3 Mod Support on PS5 Delayed into 2026
CJ Mod that's all I need
