It's always so amusing to read the excuses of the Nintendo defense drones, even though before the release they loudly proclaimed that the Switch 2 would make all consoles obsolete.
It's funny how they downplay the UK because it's supposedly never been Nintendo territory...
I'm curious to see the excuses next year when Switch 2 sales in Europe completely collapse and GTA 6 and Wolverine give the PS5 a second wind.
And people seriously still wonder why Sony doesn't give a damn about Japan. These numbers are a disaster! And I wouldn't be surprised if Sony raises the price again in a few months due to the lack of interest from the Japanese.
Sony should really focus more on China and Korea in the future. The potential is much greater there, and it will easily compensate for the loss of Japan.
That makes sense for a third-party publisher like Microsoft, who no longer care about console sales. Sony, on the other hand, still does. But the arguments for buying a PS5 are dwindling, and I don't even want to talk about the PS6.
Like I said, I'm really curious how they plan to sell the PS6 when their games are also available on Steam, the next Xbox, and maybe even the Switch 2.
Hooray, and another reason not to buy a PS5. Come on, finally release Astro Bot for PC! Then the PS5 will be by far the worst PlayStation without any real exclusive titles...
Like I said, I'm waiting until all this PC/Steam nonsense blows up in Sony's face. At the latest, when some Chinese manufacturer releases a PC hybrid.
Oh, the optimization certainly won't suffer. as with all UE5 titles that were also multiplatform.
I'm curious whether Sony will be allowed to finance this again, or whether Shift Up will do it themselves and then complain if SB2 doesn't sell 10+ million copies despite being multiplatform.
Hermen Hulst really wants us PS5 players to play the Horizon Concord Edition instead. So everything we know from Concord (I can't go into more detail or I'll get banned again, but everyone knows what I mean) will also be present in Guerilla's Horizon multiplayer. And because the reactions will be accordingly negative, Hermen has already stated that for us PS5 players, only the improved Horizon will be available.
His bad luck is that we already know about the better Horizon MP, and everyone wants that instead of the Horizon Concord Edition.
However, we need to slowly realize that Sony is going down the same path as Microsoft and will massively damage or even destroy the PlayStation brand. And we PlayStation players are the big losers.
If Sony continues to release their games on PC, this will definitely be a threat to PlayStation.
Because eventually, even the last person will realize that you don't need a PlayStation to play God of War or Spider-Man anymore.
I hope this announcement is the wake-up call for Sony to finally understand what Valve is really up to. But I fear that Totokoi is far too greedy and only sees the quick buck.
I can hardly wait for the catastrophe that's coming for Sony.
Many don't understand why PlayStation fans are so excited about Steel Frontiers. The gameplay shown is 100 times more interesting than what's in the original Horizon. And if the art style really still has a Fortnite comic look... well, then it's going to be ugly.
But hey, thankfully thanks to Hermen Hulst, at least PC players can choose which Horizon they prefer to play. Ah, good old Hermen, he does so much for his loyal fanbase who have built up Sony for years.
LOL, that's a terrible comparison. Capcom doesn't want to sell consoles, but Sony does. Besides, Sony wants you to stay within their ecosystem.
In the future, most people will ask themselves, "Why should I buy a PlayStation when I can get all the PS games on Steam anyway, and multiplayer is free?"
If Sony doesn't change its mind very quickly, they'll go the same way as Xbox. Only ten times worse.
It's simply sad to see how many people not only support Game Key Cards but also celebrate Nintendo. But hey, it's the same fandom that would celebrate if Furukawa
came to their house and took a dump on their carpet.
I'm just looking forward to the day when Nintendo shuts down the servers in 5-10 years and these cards become completely useless.
How do you destroy the most popular and profitable game console?
Totokoi: Yes
Honestly, I don't even want to get upset about it anymore. Because if you say anything, you're just labeled a Sony ponies anyway...
I'm just looking forward to when all those Sony ponies are proven right in the end, and this unbelievable nonsense is the end of Sony as we know it. And Hiroki Totoki will go down in history as the CEO who killed Sony's biggest golden goose out of sheer greed and stupidity!
"Its availability has generally been excellent, though."
That's exactly what's constantly being forgotten. The PS4 and PS5 were unavailable for months, while the Switch 2 is available everywhere.
We'll see where the Switch 2 ends up. A total flop like the Wii U was nonsense from the start. But the claims that the Switch 2 will make all other consoles obsolete are just as *****.
The Game Key Cards alone are likely to have ruined any long-term third-party success.
I don't expect SE to be here at all. SE wants to be as far away from PlayStation as possible...
It's more likely that Bamco will announce the new Tales of than that we'll see anything big from SE at a PS event anytime soon.
My predictions:
Saros Gameplay
God of War 2.5D + God of War Greek Trilogy Remaster
Phantom Blade Zero Release
Stellar Blade 2 Teaser with Raven
Tomb Raider Legend Trilogy Remaster
Resident Evil 9 trailer with Leon
Tokon new characters Reveal
One More Thing: Wolverine
And don't get your hopes up that this will be patched for the PS4/PS5. later. To date, the PS4 version of FF X/X2 hasn't received this mode, even though it's standard on the Switch and Xbox versions.
I firmly believe that DQ XII will be a Switch 2 (time) exclusive.
SE hasn't given up exclusivity, they've just given up PlayStation exclusivity.
Sony probably realized that all their games are garbage and it's not worth paying hundreds of millions for exclusive deals. And that pisses SE off. That's why they go public and badmouth Sony and the PS5, saying that the exclusivity is the reason why Final Fantasy XVI and 7 Rebirth failed... but they never want to admit that SE only has itself to blame, and they never will. Because it's always easier to blame others.
The damage has long been done. And Sony's silence is the best thing they can do...
Because again:
SONY WANTS EVERYTHING WITHOUT COMPROMISES!
Sony knows the 30% of the PSN store is their bread and butter. But they also see how much money MS makes (but they don't see that MS also has Call of Duty...), so they're taking the best of both worlds: continuing to have a strong ecosystem and then releasing their games on other platforms later.
The only problem is that this will lead to frustration for everyone in the future. Because everyone now expects Spider-Man 3 or God of War 6 Day 1 to come to PC, too.
And if they don't come (and they won't), then people will be frustrated, while PS fans will still have hope that Sony will focus on truly exclusive games. only that a year later SM 3 and GoW 6 also come out for PC/Xbox/Switch2..... On the other hand, games like the God of War 2D spin-off Day 1 will also appear on Xbox and Switch 2 causing maximum damage to the PlayStation's image.
Ironically, Sony would be better off simply keeping the PlayStation in the future, pocketing 30%, and no longer developing games themselves. because everyone else develops games and it appears on PS anyway ... (except Nintendo of course) That's exactly why Valve is so damn successful.
I'm really curious to see where Sony will be in 5 years. But I wouldn't be surprised if the PS3 generation repeats itself, only this time 100 times worse.
Sony, like most people here on Push Square and on the internet in general, thinks that the PlayStation is the de facto mainstream console and that most people will buy a PlayStation anyway. In short, Sony believes they're too big to fail!
And yes, that may be true at the moment. But especially these days, nothing is certain and anything is possible. There was a time when Halo, Gears of War, and Forza were the hottest *****, while God of War and Uncharted played second fiddle. Not to mention Killzone or InFamous... There was a time when Sony's stock was junk and the company was on the verge of being broken up.
Xbox may be dead and never coming back, but that doesn't mean PlayStation and Sony can't fail.
Sony already managed to burn through all the PS2's profits with the PS3. and nothing says that this can't also be the case with the PS6.
Sony doesn't seem to see Xbox as competition anymore (and rightly so, the console is deader than dead outside the US), but I still think that these PC hybrids like the next Xbox could kill PlayStation in the future.
Sony wants everything without compromise. Whether this tactic will work when the market is flooded with PC hybrids in the future and gaming is cheaper everywhere than on PlayStation ...... Yeah, in the future, it won't be worth playing on the PS at all. PS will be where Xbox is now!
But Chinajoy has shown that, contrary to what is being said online (mainly from Xbots and PMCR idiots), they definitely still want to sell consoles, unlike MS.
I'm curious to see how Sony plans to sell the PS6 to people in the future when the mainstream (not the freaks on the internet but real, normal people) realizes that God of War 6 or Spider-man 3 will be available on other platforms a year later. And when the mainstream realizes that online gaming on Steam is free, it'll be over for good. And the next Xbox is supposed to have Steam...
As I said, good luck Totokoi, but don't be surprised if you suffer the same fate as Kutaragi. He was also very sure of himself and had to leave Sony a year after the release of the PS3. I see the same scenario here.
Evil tongues would say that was MS's goal from the beginning, and Totokoi is too stupid to realize that MS is deliberately luring him into a trap. But hey, those are just evil tongues, and MS would never knowingly destroy the competition...right? right?
Unlike MS, Sony doesn't have Call of Duty or The Elder Scrolls either...
Perhaps some people should realize that neither God of War (Sony's strongest IP) nor Horizon (and certainly not Horizon) aren't Call of Duty.
If Sony had Take 2 with GTA, RDR, and all the licensed sports IPs, it would be understandable that they would go multiplatform. But what Sony is planning here is simply insane, and will massively damage both the PlayStation and Sony as a whole.
But okay, everything that needs to be said has been said. Just don't cry when studios like Naughty Dog or Guerilla Games have to close down because the PlayStation brand has been completely ruined.
That's exactly what most people don't understand. Sony (the entire corporation) makes most of its money from the 30% revenue it receives from the PS Store.
Anyone in their right mind would think Sony would do everything they could to get more people to invest in the PS ecosystem so they could get an even bigger 30% revenue. But they're doing the exact opposite.
Totokoi will go down in history as the one who killed Sony's biggest source of revenue. Anyone who truly believes this won't have consequences is simply naive.
I could really imagine that this will be the end of Sony as we know it now.
Which will definitely happen! Sony isn't Microsoft or Nintendo. Sony doesn't have trillions of dollars to easily buy Take Two. And God of War, their most successful, is nowhere near as successful as Mario or Pokemon.
Sony's strength was that people knew that God of War, Spider-Man, or Uncharted were only available on PlayStation.
And they should have built on that. What did they do instead? They opened Pandora's box for quick profits, and their exclusive games are now available on other platforms.
Just wait until the average customer understands that they don't need PS+ or the PS Store to play the latest PS games. They can still play the latest God of War on the Steam console or Switch 2 in the future.
Many people here still don't seem to understand what impact this will have in the future. But you'll see that as soon as the PS6 comes out, and most people stick with the PS5 or switch to PC or Switch 2.
And at the very latest, when Sony starts taking less and less than 30% of the PS store, they'll react and probably overturn everything... but by then it will probably be too late.
Sony is well on its way to following MS's lead. Anyone who truly believes that all this ***** won't hurt the PS6 also believes that the Xbox is a hugely successful console.
With one difference: this will hurt Sony far more than Microsoft. Because Sony needs the PlayStation to survive. Or at least to continue making billions.
I know enough people who are asking themselves: why should I even buy "Ghost of Yotei or the new God of War on the PS5 when it's coming out on Steam a year later anyway?"
That's exactly how it starts: the customer no longer trusts the platform... which in turn leads to fewer purchases, which in turn leads to even less trust.
GTA 6 will somehow be able to compensate for all of this, but after that? The PS6 could really be a second PS3 disaster for Sony.
LMAO Sorry Sony, but you haven't understood anything at all. Every time I think you've figured it out, such unbelievable ***** comes along.
No one should be surprised if the PS6 has the same problems as the Series X/S
LISA won't be able to help there either. A console stands or falls on exclusive titles, and the PS5 has nothing (so far) except for Astro Bot. and with the PS6 it only gets worse.
And that will change in the future. Anyone who truly believes that Nintendo and Valve aren't a threat to the PlayStation is simply delusional. But I think internally at Sony they understand it, they just don't say it publicly.
I expect things to get ugly between these three parties in the future. Because, unlike MS, these companies' existence depends on their gaming divisions. That's why they will do everything to harm the competition.
"Elsewhere in the interview, it's confirmed that a piece of DLC for the original game has been turned into a piece of Stellar Blade 2. The scope for the expansion "grew larger than expected", so Shift Up adapted it for a "full sequel. However, a lot has changed since then."
Yeah, so now it's basically confirmed for me that SB 2 will be with Raven. Maybe also dual protagonists with EVE and Raven.
I'm surprised that they're not even sure if it will be released in 2027, even though they recently said the sequel would be out next year. With a day 1 PC release, it probably won't be until 2028 anyway, which also fits with the rumored PS6 Launch.
Just make SB 2 a PS6 launch title and that's it. The PS6 will be the console where Sony's entire PC strategy backfires anyway.
Sony will need as many exclusive titles as necessary to justify buying a PS6 and SB 2 would be a good start.
No matter what any Doom posters say, SONY WILL NOT GIVE UP THEIR 30%! This is the reason why Sony makes so much money.
In the future, they'll find ways to increase these margins even further. And I fully expect them to want to hurt Nintendo, and especially Valve.
Totokoi has already said they're not averse to making large acquisitions, and that's exactly what I see happening in the near future. But more in the Asian region than in the West. Especially China/Korea.
As I said, anyone who thinks Sony will give up their 30% is simply delusional.

"This year Sony released Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2."
Both of these will ultimately be released for PC and will run best there. And they'll also be available on the new Steam Machine...

Of these, apart from Astro Bot (so far), both are on PC and run best there, and will also run on the new Steam Machine...
"Next Year they plan to release Tokon, Saros and Wolverine."
All three of these games will also be released for PC and will run best there, as well as on the Steam Machine.

Re: Sony Job Listing Implies More PS5 Exclusives Will Be Ported to Xbox, Nintendo
LOL Totokoi really wants to completely destroy the PlayStation brand.
Good luck selling PS6s to people, Sony.
Re: Helldivers 2 Xbox Announcement Prompts Avalanche of Spider-Man Port Begging
This will be very funny in a few years when Sony fails to sell the PS6 because everyone expects their games to appear on other plattforms.
Re: PS5 Fans Divided Over Helldivers 2 on Xbox Pivot
I can hardly wait for the same people who are now making fun of Playstation fanboys to cry in five years because Playstation is where Xbox is.
Re: Gran Turismo's Primary Console Competitor May Be No More
LMAO the acquisition of Activision Blizzard really killed XBOX.
Re: Reaction: Helldivers 2 on Xbox Signals Another Unexpected But Not Overly Surprising Shift in Strategy from Sony
@BacklogBrad
Re: Reaction: Helldivers 2 on Xbox Signals Another Unexpected But Not Overly Surprising Shift in Strategy from Sony
@nomither6
Yes, and why? Because of good and excellent exclusive titles. The PS6 definitely won't have those.
Re: Reaction: Helldivers 2 on Xbox Signals Another Unexpected But Not Overly Surprising Shift in Strategy from Sony
Re: PlayStation Is Bringing Helldivers 2 to Xbox, Out on 26th August
LMAO Sorry Sony, but you haven't understood anything at all. Every time I think you've figured it out, such unbelievable ***** comes along.
No one should be surprised if the PS6 has the same problems as the Series X/S
LISA won't be able to help there either. A console stands or falls on exclusive titles, and the PS5 has nothing (so far) except for Astro Bot. and with the PS6 it only gets worse.
Re: Ex-PlayStation Boss Says Sony Has Never Really Seen Nintendo As a Rival
And that will change in the future. Anyone who truly believes that Nintendo and Valve aren't a threat to the PlayStation is simply delusional. But I think internally at Sony they understand it, they just don't say it publicly.
I expect things to get ugly between these three parties in the future. Because, unlike MS, these companies' existence depends on their gaming divisions. That's why they will do everything to harm the competition.
This will only benefit us as customers.
Re: Stellar Blade 2 Dev Will Try Its Best to Hit 2027 Release, But Don't Expect It
"Elsewhere in the interview, it's confirmed that a piece of DLC for the original game has been turned into a piece of Stellar Blade 2.
Re: Final Fantasy 16 May Have Underperformed on PS5, But It's Doing Terribly on Xbox
Oh, what a surprise! Who would have seen that coming? And SE and their fanboys will probably blame Sony again...
Re: Stellar Blade Thrives on PC, 1 Million Copies Sold in 3 Days
It's simply ridiculous how the PCMR grifters claim that SB's success comes solely from the PC, while forgetting that without Sony, SB wouldn't exist!
The numbers actually show that the entire PC market is now driven by China.
Re: 'Competition Pushes Us to Innovate': Sony Weighs in on Xbox's Potential Exit from Console Business
